I didn't wait to hear anymore! I returned to my room bolting the door behind me.
Logan left me! Clutching my chest, unable to bear the pain, I buried my head under a pillow and wept!
Logan betrayed me!
Sitting up I looked around my room, knowing I can't take much with me but what I can take will be enough to start a life without anyone from my present around me.
It's still early, so no one would miss me yet. I used Logans knapsack to put a few of my necessities.
Smiling I took out the envelope, which I received from my grandparents, the Phillips, containing my late mother's life insurance and part of her family's money!
This is definitely a God sent, because I can't use Logan's money to hide my baby from him.
Clutching my belly, that's getting bigger with each passing day!
"Mummy's sorry sweetheart" I apologized for second guessing my decision to have this baby.
I don't need Logan or Jessica. Jer? Can I leave him behind? Logan will hunt me down for my baby and also, use Jer to get my baby.
Since no one came looking for me, I continued packing just two change of clothing, until later.
I looked around the room, making sure I didn't forget anything of importance.
I look down at my wedding band and engagement ring, smiling as I remember those two special days of my life that is slowly becoming a horrible memory.
Taking out the rings, smiling sadly at the thought, that Logan might give this to his future wife.
Apparently, people think that I'm already gone because no one came by to check on me.
Thanking God with tears running down my face,, that there's a lot of holes on this compound that Logan and his crew don't know of, yet.
Taking the same trail from yesterday morning, I walked in the direction of the Masses cabin. Most times it's unoccupied and if I stop and rest there, they will have no objection, plus they have a functioning landline, which I can use to ask the Phillips not to let Logan know about the monies they gave me yesterday.
After an hour and a half, I was exhausted! My head, back and feet was pounding and I cried when I saw the Massie's cabin.
I knocked three times but there was no answer, so I went to retrieve the hidden key, thanking God, once again that the key was there.
Dropping my two small luggage and my handbag to the floor, I collapsed on the sofa that's covered in clear plastic.
Wiping , sweat and tears, I let out a loud wail, my cries echoing around the quiet room.
Why did Logan do this?" He's probably fed up of fighting his grandfather so he decided to join him again. But he could have told me. He could have said that he wanted a divorce, but to take my baby? How could he plan to do that?
Nodding to myself, still crying uncontrollably. "I made the right decision to leave. I am a burden to him as a wife and a hindrance to his relationship with his grandparents. Now his parents can go and live their lives once again without having to bother about me." I keep muttering, convincing myself, that this is, for the best. "Yes, this is for the best."
I searched around for the phone and smiled hoping it's still connected.
I called the number that Mr. Phillips wrote down for me on the envelope, still wondering how I am going to explain what happened between Logan and I and why I am running. I cannot go to them, because in Logan's hunt for my baby, he might go to them.
The phone was answered on the second ring by Mrs. Phillips.
"Hello?" She answer twice, as I was hesitant about making contact with them. But if I don't Logan can track my baby through the money the Phillips gave me.
"Please don't hang up," I quickly, said into the phone.
"Leah?" She asks. "are you okay?" She continues. "It's Leah" I heard her say in the background.
"Leah sweetheart?' Mr. Phillips, my grandfather said into the phone.
"No I'm not" I sobbed "and I need your help, but please don't say anything to anyone about me please. Logan and I have broken up and he's getting married again. I ran and I don't want him or anyone else to know where I am." I sobbed and stammered into the phone, pleading with the Phillips to help me.
"You are at the Massie's cabin?" Mr. Phillips said and I got afraid, because he can lead Logan to where I am.
When I remained silent, "I am not going to tell anyone where you are. I just want to come and get you." Mr. Phillips responded, his voice anxious.
"But, he will know that you know where I am" I explained.
"Leah, if he knows that you are missing, he hasn't come around at my home yet and by the time he does, I will have you far away from here." Mr. Phillips promised and I felt, that once again God is on my side.
"Okay." I agreed, "how soon can you get here?" Sounding anxious now, afraid to be alone.
"I am leaving now." He sound as if he was going to hang up.
"Wait" I stopped him. When I realized he was still on the phone, "Uh, Mrs. Phillips, I mean grandma. Please ask her, not to mention where I am if anyone should come by asking. Please!" I begged, as fear for Logan and his threat to take my baby builds up.
"I'll explain. Stay there." Mr. Phillips, or grandpa says.
Still afraid that Logan could send his guys to follow them, so after freshening up, I took my belongings and hid on the outskirts of the cabin, so that I can see if anyone that isn't Mr. Phillips come by.
