"COPS?" I whisper, following mom into the squad car. "Mom?" looking over seeing mom looking ahead, her lips thinning with her clenched jaws.
As the car started moving unto a gravel road at the back of the building, I looked around unable see the carpark from here.
Looking at mom again, she shakes her head. For someone who didn't choose this life, how is she not panicking as I am.
"Did you know about last night?" I edged closer to her, whispering.
Nodding, she turns to me, surprise, with wide open eyes.
"Did you?" she asks and I shook my head.
"I didn't but I knew when Logan returned but he didn't admit it." I tell her. "How are you so calm?" wishing I was as composed as she is.
Holding out her hands, allowing me to see her unsteady palms, realizing she was far from calm.
"They won't hurt them, they only need our hideout." mom explains as the road we were on, led us behind the vehicle that was following us earlier.
The squad car driver abruptly blasted his sirens, causing mom and I to jerk in fright.
The vehicle, that was following Logan vehicle eventually had to slow down, while Logan's vehicle continued onwards.
Mom and I frowned when our eyes met. "This is stupid" mom retorted when the driver and his partner approach the vehicle that was following us!
With guns outstretched, by the cops, the guys were made to step out of the vehicle with their hands outstretched and lie on the ground, while another vehicle came to park behind us.
The guys laid on the ground facing in front of them so they were not aware that Logan had returned.
Opening mom's door, "ladies" Logan chuckles at mom's outraged expression.
I step out behind him noticing the guys were handcuff and the weapons they were carrying, seized.
"Come," Logan, ushers me to follow mom.
"Are they real cops?" I asked wishing I could take it back when I saw Logan's frown.
With his arms around me again, "yes Jamie. I don't bribe cops and like me, they don't want any bloodshed, so I got them to assist in keeping you safe and catching some criminal while they are at it." Logan explains while walking to dad's SUV.
I slap Jer's arm at his outrageous expression, while making fun of me.
"I am hungry" I tell Logan before he closes the door.
Logan raises his eyebrows, looking at mom.
"Where's your father?" she asks concern, her eyes on the road in front of us.
Following his gaze, "he could meet us at the Tarven, but I would suggest, we head home and have breakfast there." Logan informs her then turns to me and I nod with a small smile.
Kissing me lightly on the lips, "that's my girl," he chuckles, closing the door behind me, before climbing back into the drivers seat for our return trip to the cabin, popping his his for the cops as we drove by
Remembering the gun. Taking it slowly out of my waist band, I hand it over to Cameron, "I believe this belongs to you all." Needing to get it as far away from me as possible.
Laughing out loudly in the enclosed vehicle, "how do you expect to learn to shoot that thing, if you're afraid to hold it." Jer asks, tilting his head, indicating the gun.
Cameron doesn't take the gun, "just so you know, this is yours" he chuckles, his eyes on Logan, who as usual ignores Cameron.
"Call Mrs. Stan and let her know that we are on our way and my baby is hungry." He instructs Cameron, sending me a wink, as our eyes met in the mirror.
I held the gun, afraid, but I need to get accustom for added confidence.
The conversation in the vehicle was just between Cameron, Jer and I, with mom and Logan opting to remain quiet.
When Logan parked the vehicle, I whispered to Jer, "I need to pee." I said in desperation and leaving Logan behind Jer walked me safely to my bedroom that was f****** lock.
"Get the key from Logan" I danced on my feet.
"Here, here" Logan laughs behind me and I glare at him because I need to go now.
As Logan unlock the door I didn't wait for him, but pushed the door open, leaving him outside with Jer, breathing a sigh of relief to relieve myself.
By the time I was rinsing my hands, Logan walked in naked, "I need a shower, join me." he invites seductively, coming forward, starting to undress me.
Resisting halfheartedly, "I'm hungry" I reminded him but he wasn't taking no for an answer, taking me into the shower with him.
Logan and I showed and chatted under the cool water.
"I don't want any discussion about this morning being spoken about in front of anyone, especially Gwen. I don't want her to overhear anything. We are not implicated and grandfather desperately needs me, but I still have no clue why" Logan explains, while soaping my body.
Reaching down, he soaps my lower, back "you are not in pain are you?" he stops his hand on the small of my hips
Shaking my head, "no, I feel fine" I said, as he looks at me thoughtfully.
"What?" I asked, not comfortable with the look in my eyes.
He opens his mouth to speak, then doesn't shaking his head.
Reaching up, I held his face in my hands, "no more secrets, remember?" I raised my eyebrows, waiting for his reaction.
Holding my face between his soapy hands, "I don't know" he shakes his head, "I hope it's nothing. You're putting on weight and not feeling pain." he leans down and kisses me, deepening the kiss with little encouragement from me.
By the time Logan and I left out bedroom, which he secures once again, I had a gut feeling that he was trying to distract me from what he was actually thinking. Why didn't I feel as much pain as before?
