Chapter 64 - CHAPTER SIXTY FOUR

JAMIE'S POV

I was so excited to be coming back to this place after nearly four years. Grams always promise to visit, but every time she would give a different excuse for changing her mind. Jer and I understood, but Jess was too young to understand and too young to care.

The last time Jess asked about the cabin, Grams lied and told her that she had to sell it to pay the mortgage on the house we lived in and she believed her.

Is that the reason that Jer chose this place because Jess doesn't know that it's in my name now? "Are we hiding?" I suddenly asked Logan, who was surprise by my question, but he did look at his mother in the rearview mirror, before answering me.

"Jer thought this place will be ideal for you to relax and mom needed peace and quiet for her work, plus it's a convenient distance from the city and yes, yes I am doing my best to keep you away from any present danger or potential danger" he admits, keeping his eyes on the vehicle in front of us.

I heard mom gasping behind me. "Logan, it's beautiful. It's simply beautiful!!" she exclaims. "Jamie you owned all of this and have kept it hidden?" mom asks.

Shifting slightly in the seat as the vehicle slows down in front of the cabin which has changed somewhat, but it's just as beautiful. "After Grams lied to Jess about selling it, I couldn't find it in clean conscience to visit with her." I excuse myself.

"It was only when Grams died, that I realized Grams left the deed in my name. ." I looked around instantly recollecting the happy memories from when we vacationed here, up until Gramps left.

Opening the door and slowly getting out, with mom coming to stand beside me and Logan glaring angrily at me, wrapping an arm around my waist. Looking up at his face, seeing his chiseled jaw line and beautiful full lips, "It's beautiful, isn't it?" I smiled at him, contented.

Staring into my gray eyes, Logan's gaze softens, "you talking about me or about this place?" he asked with a smirk and a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Leaning my head unto his chest, "both" I muttered softly, reaching up to capture the lips of the man who was hovering above me.

"Get a room, you too," I heard Justin shout from a distance. I look to where I heard his voice and saw him standing in front of large wooden double door that matches the color and wood work of the cabin, but I can't remember that being there before.

I searched for Jer, whom I realize was staring at the lake in front of him, "let me" I whispered to Logan, who seem hesitant to release his hold on me. "I'll be fine, I promise you" I said confidently convincing him that I was fine.

Logan eventually lets me go, but shouts out to Jer, "hey Jer" was all I heard as I continued to walk towards Jer. Jer looks over my head and walks towards to me reaching out a hand to hold me. His hand gave me extra balance and extra strength.

As Jer and I stood silently in front of the lake each lost in our thoughts and our own memories. Jer tightens the arm that was around my shoulder, holding me closer to him. I look up to see a reflection of my eyes looking down at me. I used to think that my husband was the hottest man on the planet but my brother could give him a run for his money.

I chuckle at the thought, as I leaned my head on his arm, "Jer, you fixed up the place" I observed. "It's beautiful, but where did you get the money to do all of this?" I asked, concern now that my brother has gone in debt to upkeep this cabin.

Clearing his throat, "promise you won't be upset?" Jer asks looking down at me.

Not knowing what I'm about to hear, especially as I was forewarned about being upset, I nodded.

Taking a deep breath, "I used my college fund" Jer was saying but I cut him across.

Punching his shoulder and his chest as I pushed him slightly away from me but his hand still held my shoulder. "Are you crazy" I shout at him. "What the hell were you thinking?" I punched his chest again, ignoring his apologetic smile and gray eyes that darken when he's upset or filled with unshed tears. Realizing that Jer is not irresponsible and he always have reasons for the choices he makes, "I'm sorry" I apologize.

Hugging me to himself"I did it for you and for my nephew" he tells me, his arm around my shoulder getting firmer as I tried to shift myself in his arms. "Before Logan, or Grey came home" my brother nicknamed Logan, Grey after we started dating as a joke, but it stuck to him. "I overheard Jess and Mr. Daniels making plans, but I was unsure at first so I just stuck around observing, then everything blew up after Grey came home." he continue to explain himself, "Jess is determined to break-up your marriage to Grey and I had to put things in place to help protect you and the baby from her." Jer protectively tightens both arms around my shoulders.

My handsome brother has made a huge sacrifice for me and I can never repay him, "thank you Jer, I will repay you as soon as I get back on my feet and if I don't, this is all yours" I said turning around slowly, indicating the land around us, when I caught sight of the handsome blued eye man standing a few feet behind us and by the look in his eyes, I know that he overheard our conversation.

Nudging Jer, who turns, meeting Logan's eyes, "Grey" Jer, greets him.
