LOGAN'S POV
I heard her apologizing to Jamie for hurting her, then she has the audacity to f***ing lie in my face. The first thing is Jamie's safety and keeping her away from her sister isn't going to be easy, but it has to be done.
I know grandfather's games, especially as I remember when I was the one being manipulated by him and grandmother.
I held Jamie, as Jessica hovers behind me.
"Do you want me to take you to the hospital?" I asked Jamie, She didn't answer me because she's still seems confused as she stares at her sister, with a deep frown and tears flowing down her cheeks.
"I'll go with you" Jessica offered softly, adding to my annoyance. Jamie's confusion increases, as she stares behind me, before putting her head on my shoulder.
"Thank you but there's no need" I told her abruptly. "I'm here now, you can go back to school. My wife is my responsibility now" I added curtly.
"I always go with her" she insisted.
"Are you okay?" I asked Jamie softly. She shakes her head, her body still tense as she fights the intense pain she's feeling.
Jessica comes to sit on the other side of Jamie and looks at me. "let me help, I'm accustom" she continues in a soft caring tone, that doesn't match her eyes. She tries putting an arm around Jamie, almost touching my hand, but Jamie shrugs off her hand. A reaction Jessica clearly didn't expect.
I turned my full blown anger on her, "what?" I shout, "you're accustom hurting her?" I added loudly. "Is that what you've been doing since the accident?" I glared at Jessica whi seemed taken aback, with the tone off my voice and Jamie was in too much pain to react.
"She's my sister" Jessica says angrily, standing up, "even when she willingly became a cripple, I stood by her, never leaving her side. And what now? Now that you're back I'm disposable?" hearing my mom's voice as she comes into the room, Jessica countenance changes and she runs into my mother's arms, slowly wrapping her arms loosely around her.
"And she's my wife" I shouted, pointing to the door, seeing grandfather standing there, breathing heavily. "Get out!" I shout to Jessica.
"Logan!" my grandfather shouts out loud at me.
"Logan, please don't" Jamie reaches for my hand looking at me pleadingly.
A bland expression crosses my mother's face as she looks at Jessica. My grandfather stormed further into the room, putting an arm around Jessica, taking her from my mother's arms
"What is going on here and why are you shouting at Jess?" grandfather asks angrily, then he turned on Jamie. "What lies did you feed him about your sister, whose been nothing but slaving after you for the past three months" he shouts at Jamie. "Are you this ungrateful and jealous?" he continues to shout at Jamie.
"Grandfather" Jess softly speaks to him, "it's okay, I'll go" she moves away from him walking out, but not before I see her turn to look at Jamie with a smirk.
Jamie stares at Jessica's retreating form as she walks room, before turning her teary eyes to grandfather.
"What have you done to my sister?" she asks, weak with pain.
Grandfather stares at my wife with so much hatred, "me?" he smirks, "I've done nothing" he chuckles, "maybe she's fedup of you and your dictatorship." he told Jamie, then focuses his attention on me. "You'd better off without her in the long run" he said and walks out.
Mom closes the door behind grandfather as Jamie starts crying uncontrollably.
She comes around and hugs her to her chest. "Jamie I know that whatever is happening is difficult but you need to get a hold of yourself, if not for you, then for the baby"
"Mom what's going on with Jessica and grandfather" I asked her bluntly to see if she knows and by her bewildered expression, I know that she's in the dark.
"I don't know sweetheart, but remembering my time with your grandparents and having to fight them for you, I can see it happening again and Jessica has been roped in to help him" she say with a far off expression in her eyes. "I just don't know what her part is yet"
"Jess is helping grandfather to take my baby from me?" Jamie cries. "Logan, please I can't stay here" she tells me what I already know.
Mom and I look at each other before mom turns to Jamie.
"I can promise you that what happened to me will never happen to you" mom pledges, before turning to me.
"I'll spend the night here as Jamie's in this pain" she turns back to Jamie. "What happen with Jess?" she asks.
Jamie looks at the bed sheet with a frown and shakes her head, "I don't know, maybe it's my fault" she says shaking her head.
"Just tell me what happened?" mom asks again, holding Jamie's cheeks in the palm of her hands.
"I was searching for something to watch, while I wait for Logan to return and Jessica cones in. I've missed her all day and I opened my arms for a hug because I was so happy to see her." She pauses, shaking her head with a frown.
"She hesitated, as if she didn't want to. You know, she looked at me as if she was repelled by me, but she did come and hug me. Then I ask if she was okay and she shoved me back, roughly and it hurt, but she seemed uncaring for a moment" she tells mom.
Mom, gently hugs her, "Its not your fault Jamie, you didn't do anything wrong" mom consoles my weeping wife as my anger builds.
Like my mother, I pledge that my wife will never go through what my mom went through, nor will my child go through what I did!
"She said that I am a cripple!"
