And during this time, Yoru noticed something about Koku's breathing, that it was way off from normal. "His breathing... it's slowing down," Yoru panicked as she looked for what to do or any way to help him. Just as Koku had stopped breathing entirely, she found it.
In their time in the eternal city, during their training, Koku told Yoru how he learned medical things and mastered them. One of the many things he told her was about CPR. Remembering this, Yoru looked at the unconscious Koku and took a deep breath. She began to close the distance between their faces.
Just as she was about to perform CPR, she heard something speak out to her. "And just what do you think you're doing?" The speaker was none other than Koku, who was currently on top of him. Seeing her, Koku was able to piece one and one together. So without saying anything, Koku grabbed her waist and pulled it up a little bit. With his arms, he grabbed both of her legs and spread them a little. After that, he grabbed her hands and placed them over his upper chest area.
"That's the correct position for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), remember. You're hurting or crushing my ribs in this painful process. Do it wrong and I'll die," Koku sighed and sat up a little bit. Yoru had been still on top of him, and since he sat up, their faces were close to each other. Yoru wasn't thinking all that much since she had been shocked, so after 3 seconds of thinking, she hugged Koku. He could hear her sniffles just about 10 seconds later, so as she quietly showed her affection, he placed his hand over her head and slowly rubbed it.
"Thank you, Yoru. Now that I'm better, are you okay?" Koku looked at her from head to toe and noticed her ankle. "Your ankle. It's sprained, and you have a few cuts. Let me help you with those," Koku told her as she was still hugging him and showing no signs of letting go.
Koku looked at the cratrus and signaled to it. It understood what Koku was asking for, so quietly it left and arrived minutes later with fibers and some plants. Koku gently told her that he was going to tie the fibers around her ankle, but before that, he'd have to do something with the plants that were also brought.
So as he planned what to do with them, identified the types of plants they were, and since they had been really good for pain control, Koku tied the fibers with the plants around her ankle. And seeing her cuts, Koku brewed something together with the remaining herbs. After finishing, he applied them over the cuts, and slowly but surely, they began disinfecting her wounds.
After doing this, Koku noticed that Yoru had fallen asleep, and that her wounds were healing quickly. "My own wounds are already completely gone. The void's power is really something out there," Koku muttered to himself. After he had fallen asleep, Koku summoned all of his cratrus's and told them to guard Yoru no matter the cost.
After telling them to guard her, Koku walked east for about 10 minutes and eventually stopped. "Yoru fell asleep without eating. Actually, we only had breakfast today... I'll make her something really good after I'm done training," Koku stated loudly in front of no one.
Taking a deep breath in and closing his eyes, Koku then muttered something he had discovered within his time unconscious. "Void enhancement stage 1." After muttering the words, Koku's body began lighting bright purple for a single second, and he then found himself feeling stronger.
The technique was rather simple, calling upon the void's aura and energy and condensing it into a thin layer of void fabric. Koku's body absorbed this void aura and void energy and had a temporary boost in his body. The body contained itself from overflowing with the power, which was then integrated into his body. It lasts for an hour. Koku began to think to himself, "There's 5 stages, and stage one is only a 100% multiplier, meaning once using it, I'll be at 200% power for an hour." Koku couldn't see how much the other stages boosted his power so he dropped it and focused on the first stage which had been active.
"Now to create counters for all of the attack patterns he used on me." Koku released his deep breath as he had been done thinking and opened his eyes. With this, a burst of purple energy created some wind pressure making a breeze-like effect. After this happened, Koku basically began to train himself to the limits. Having quite some time (2 months) before he and Yoru had to be at Frostvale, a city of Eldoria, so Koku took this time to train himself.
4 hours passed by, and Koku was still training, and after another 2, Koku completed 6 hours of training. "Now to head back over to Yoru before the light comes up," Koku said as he stretched before he headed back over to the area. After that, he rushed over there, and the trip which took 10 minutes by walk, took less than 30 seconds.
On his quick way there, Koku killed a deer and brought it back with him. And as he arrived, he un-summoned all of the cratrus's. He then began to cook the deer after cleaning and skinning it. As he did this, Koku wondered how he could win the next battle. And just right there in his head, he remembered.
"I'm not the brightest am I? How could I forget the golem and 4 dragons I killed in the trials of the eternity dungeon..." Koku then realized that even in those dragons' weakened forms, they could've helped Yoru win her fight and then assist him in winning his own fight.
Nearing the finishing point of the food's cooking, Koku snapped out of it and realized Yoru had been in the process of waking up. "Good morning, Yoru," Koku greeted her as she woke up. After this, Koku finished up the food and served her lots of the deer meat with vegetables. Yoru didn't even get to say good morning before her mouth began to water, and she soon started eating her food.
"How is it? Do you like it?" Koku wondered. Yoru responded before she finished swallowing, "MHM I LIK-", she couldn't finish her statement as she had begun to choke on her food. "Take it slow," Koku told her in a gentle voice as he gave her the waterskin.
After eating up, Koku talked with her lots and made her feel happy as he always did. However, a week later, Yoru was better and completely healed. "Yoru, from this day on, we're going to begin training on martial arts," Koku told her as he remembered the contents of a book he read in the eternal city's library. He was able to memorize step by step but never tried it. He did this with countless books as well. So for the next month, Koku and Yoru worked on martial arts and were able to master one of the two martial arts they were learning together.
Radiant star martial arts (100% mastered and prioritizes movement and speed)
Sentinel martial arts (40% mastered and prioritizes defense and body posture)
On a morning as the sun began showing itself in the sky, Koku yawned and began slowly getting up off the ground. "We need a home... we're homeless," Koku thought to himself as he yawned once again. Just then, as he was about to take a step, he noticed that Yoru had gotten closer to him subconsciously in her sleep.
"She's been getting closer and closer to me in her sleep. If she's uncomfortable, she should just tell me. I'd let her sleep on my arm if so," Koku told himself as he then went to prepare breakfast for the both of themselves. After Koku had finished, he woke Yoru up. And since she was still drowsy, Koku did something for her to wake up completely.
"Say ahhhh," Koku told her as he held the food in front of her mouth, as to feed her. Yoru who had just quite literally woke up 10 seconds ago wasn't sure of what was going on. And just right then, she became aware of what was going on. Her face flushed bright pink, and quite fast at that. "WH-WH-WHA~," Koku then tapped Yoru on the head with his other hand as to snap her out of it, and it worked.
Yoru closed her mouth and grabbed the food. "I can ea-eat it myself, you know." With this, Yoru opened her mouth, and Koku grinned, and within a second he snatched the food right out of her hand and said it once again, "Say ahhhh, or no food." Koku was clearly teasing her, and just then, her stomach growled.
She closed her mouth and didn't put up a fight, as she then simply took a small bite out of the food. "Th-there happy?" Yoru pouted as she took the food from Koku's hand and began eating at her pace.
Thinking to himself, that her silent embarrassed expression was somewhat odd he began to think of all the times she had gotten embarrassed. Koku then began to feel a little weird, especially around his stomach and face. Yoru looked over her shoulder as she was still embarrassed and thinking if he was looking at her. And as she looked over her shoulder, Yoru had seen Koku's face slightly pink for the first time.
This came as a shocker to her since she's never seen him like this. And just as that happened, she wondered if he had seen something on her since he was staring at her practically. She looked around herself and wasn't able to find anything out of place, but by the time she looked back at Koku, he wasn't staring at her anymore, and he fake coughed.
"Oh… well well, did you see something you like?" Yoru teased Koku as she got closer to him and leaned on his back. "Did me being embarrassed make you see something you like?" She teased him more.
Koku remained silent for a few seconds as she kept teasing him. This time, as she was holding onto his shoulder with a single arm and a hand over her mouth (in a teasing way), Koku began to speak. "We're training 2 times harder than yesterday today, Yoru." Yoru's tail and ears seemed to perk up when he said this. Immediately right after that, she got away from him and began to play off what he said as she soon finished the rest of her food.
Right after breakfast, Koku and Yoru had a laugh, and shortly after that, they began to train once more, increasing their efficiency with the Sentinel martial arts. "Hey Yoru, do you think we should leave this area? Somewhere closer to Frostvale or just away from here?" Koku asked her as he was getting tired of seeing the same old place every day.
"It would take us about a month on horseback to get to Frostvale, soooo yea we should get moving. How long do we have?" Yoru asked as her ear moved to the side with curiosity. Koku looked into her eyes and said with the most blank expression ever, "We have a month." Yoru looked at him, and all within 10 seconds Koku had seen multiple different emotions all in one sitting. "We should leave the training for some other time and we should also GET GOING," Yoru yelled at Koku right before she took a deep breath to calm down.
Koku sighed and summoned a cratrus for Yoru to ride since Koku had wanted to run full speed. And just like that, Koku and Yoru went off to arrive at Frostvale. About 2 weeks later, Koku and Yoru found themselves in a sticky situation. The Paladonia convoy was passing by, and in this convoy, Koku could see that it was made up of strictly holy knights. And to top all of that off, there was one of the great generals leading them.
Koku and Yoru, by this point, weren't even on the cratrus's, let alone had any summoned. So these two looked in awe as hardcore warriors passed by. "As strong as we are right now… I'd struggle against a single holy knight if not lose really bad, but all of this and I wouldn't even last a second," Koku told himself as he looked at the convoy, which had just about 1,000 holy knights pass by.
