Later she was seen strolling through the crowd unimpressed by the men her grandpa Dywen had in mind.
From rich benefactors to manipulative politicians. They either lacked something or were completely inaccessible. One was too ugly, one was too full of himself, one was pretentious and another was simply just a schemer and don't get her in on the one that dislikes kids, he was already planning on sending her outside the country or to some proper boarding school.
Others might have not noticed these peculiarities in these men but Kiara did. She saw right through them from her questioning and the gut feelings from her soul.
She wanted a perfect march for her mother, someone who could love her unconditionally despite her faults. Her mother's happiness meant hers.
She wants the marriage to be based on common sense, and mutuality is one of the greatest things of life.
They did say that marriage is the golden ring in a chain whose beginning is a glance and whose ending is eternity.
Meanwhile, her eyes coincidentally caught Allen Bacheman, the son of Paul Bacheman, and grandpa Dywen's eldest grandson.
Her eyes lit up after confirming that he was truly standing there, in the center of a crowd dressed cutely in a suit. She momentarily forgot about her mission as she made her way like a little butterfly to his side.
"Hi, Allen."
Her cheerful voice interrupted the interaction taking place, where Allen who was only seven stood proudly in the presence of a group of male teenagers who were dressed respectively suits with gadgets that spoke of their respected schools. His hazelnut eyes took a passing glance at her before diverting his attention back to the audience.
Although he ignored her, Kiara felt nothing of it. If she was capable enough she would ensure that she ignored this spoilt brat but alas she did have the body of a child and as such the mentality that unveil itself once in a while.
So her lips spread into that childish smile as she listened to the boy speak big about himself. After a while, that smile twisted a look of disdain pass her eyes. She almost face - palmed herself at his shameless proclaimant.
"You are wrong."
What was that about being magnanimous?, Kind and generous. She's also privilege to point out the faults right?
"Huh?"
Not only Allen but the great minds around questioned her claim, it made them also realize that amongst them there stood a little girl dressed beautifully like a fairy aged either 4 or 5 with bright eyes, was putting mouth in their discussion where her age - group were in the second room with nannies and guards.
Where did this little fairy come from?
"The answer is 8, not 18."
She rolled her eyes at their reaction before going further in explaining.
"One must note that concave mirrors are real and inverted; Convex mirrors are erect, diminish, upright and virtual, But when we talk about the lens? Concave lens are erect, diminish, upright and virtual, Convex lens are real and inverted, just the opposite of the mirror. The image formed by a pinhole camera is smaller if the screen is nearer the pinhole and it's bigger. If the object is far the pinhole. Incident and emergent Ray's in a simple Periscope ( 45degree) is parallel and in the same distance, if the height of a pinhole camera is increased, the image formed becomes blurred and brighter. So when measuring you divide 240 × 180 picca by 320 ×120 picca which is equal to 0.08."
SILENCE!
Every eyes widen unblinking before like a chain reaction they blinked.
There was loud murmuring amongst the peers before the scholars gave off a voice of awed and gushed at her. They were indeed kids in high school implying knowledge to their fellow classmates having a younger generation no less the four or five show great promise of being in their caliber. Who wouldn't be pleased? It was a blessing to be a genius.
They had thought that the boy Allen indeed showed great promise since he was older and in a high class, but now they were desperate to pour their attention on this cute bunny that has shocked them.
While they busied their attention toward Kiara, Allen turned red in anger. His fish clenched in great discomfort at the turn of the event. Sometimes people don't change, their priorities do and you just stop being as important. Wasn't Allen suppose to be the center of attention?
Unable to conceal his jealousy, Allen turned to the little girl angrily.
"No one asked for your help Pea-brain, just go away from here."
Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn. Allen wanted his ignorance to be bliss.
Startled, Kiara blinked twice. Her attention had always been on him so she knew he definitely was referring to her.
By now you probably have an insight on the relationship between Kiara and Allen. They were water and ice and Kiara has always been infatuated by him.
"Why? I didn't do anything wrong.", She innocently questioned. Her innocence made her appear like a soft bun so soft and fluffy and deliciously looking, it made people what to stand by her side..
"You are speaking non-sense."
Allen's eyes twisted. He tried signalling her to leave. At his young age, he already was practicing the act of containing fame the wrong way.
"No, she's not."
A voice defended her from the crowd. The familiarity of the voice her Allen's eyes squinting sideways, his lips set in a straight line.
He turned to glare at the young boy around his age that had approached them luckily the scholars were still busy with their discussions unaware of the showdown about to take place.
"Kiara is correct, and you are bullying her." he retaliated with a matching glare.
"*scoff! what do you know, Magnus? with that brain of your how can you know left or right." Allen sneered.
A clack went through when their eyes locked in a fierce battle.
He had bad blood with the young boy probably because he was always competing with him on everything especially with getting little Kiara's attention.
Truly, Kiara gazed at him with sparkling eyes, her rosy cheeks looking redder.
Luckily the scholars had ended their debate to take in the scene.
"Little junior, are you related to this little girl? I couldn't believe that she could know all these, she got ever explanation right."
This was the err where Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter. Every next generation was greater than the past.
"Yes, and she explained it very well, it's surprising that such a little girl knows something like this." Another added with surge
"Little girl how did you do the answer?"
Kiara shrugged, "I read a lot of books."
"Supledid! Your explanation were exactly like that of Professor Cullen. If not for your age I would have said you were personally taught by this great teacher. Or are you by any chance related to him?"
Kaira's eyes lit up at the mention of Prof. Cullen. She had a little recollection of him that she proudly wanted to say but Allen beat her to it.
"Of course not! How can Kiara be related to the great prof Cullens?! She's just my adopted aunt's child."
She blinked. her eyes shifted toward Allen with an unreadable expression. Even the teenagers noticed the tense atmosphere between them.
"Yes Little junior what is your relationship with this little girl?"
"She's my adopted aunty Rose's daughter."
They all had different expression on their faces probably recalling the rumours that the tablet had written about her.
Kiara felt like kicking Allen on his little jewel.
Kiara had an impulse but was stopped by Magnus.
"Ignore him Kiara, If people are trying to bring you down it only means that you are above them."
He was of the same height as Allen and equally handsome with his black American features. He had a carefree air about him that wasn't to be messed with, even with the disgruntled look Allen sent him didn't faze him.
His eyes were in Kiara the whole time giving her a gentle smile so different it shocked her.
Coincidentally, the same senior who looked like to be the leader with the group agreed agitatedly with Magnus, he felt attachment toward the little genius and wanted to help her like a close kin.
"Hoho! Great words from another promising junior. Listen to this Junior, Little girl. He is right."
The other nodded in agreement, signing praising and inspirations for the two of them. Kiara felt warmth by their attention. She took a bow while speaking from her heart.
"It's alright seniors, I'm not offended. After all Allen is still my elder brother."
Allen felt a vien pop while watching them, he became more agitated at Magnus roasting the seed of their bad blood.
"Get lost! who's your elder brother!", he glare with hurtful eyes at Kiara before heating up the fore of his glare at Magnus.
"Listen here Magnus, don't put you head where it doesn't nt belong."
Magnus let loose a smirk mockingly at him before adding scornfully,
"Hi, I'm a human being. What are you?"
Allen became flush in anger. He point a finger at him aggressively.
"You- You..."
Kiara had that awkward look as she watched the two young boys exchange words till they were both drenched in sweat. The seniors weren't any help either, they became oblivious to reality as the drive in once more into the world of maths and science. Her look resembled that of that awkward moment when somebody is talking about you when you're right there.
She let loose a tired breath.
She wanted to at least be more magnanimous like an adult but clearly not as a child who was simply just a child.
"Allen?"
Sometimes people don't change, but their priorities do and you just stop being as important. It was a good reference to Allen jealousy that had gradually grown unfolds. He was quick to abandon her even after the promise he made.
"Kiara I'm busy now. Can I ignore you some other time?"
Kiara was once more dumbfounded.
'I don't know what makes you so stupid, but it really works.' She lamented silently in her heart.
She let out another breath, blocking out the noise around her and staring into space, she tried finding her inner peace but unfortunately the familar cries of nickname broke her stupor.
"Ah! Little K? Little K, there you are. Where is your mother?"
Eric's tall frame appeared in front of her sight oblivion of the tension amongst them, he didn't even notice that his nephews going head to head with another boy or how soft her voice was when she replied him.
Like her mother, she almost called him out on his stupidity but held it in to maintain her innocent fairy look.
But one couldn't blame Eric. His last conversation with Rose left him in flutters, his heart felt they had a moment but his head was too confuse to understand what went wrong.
"Mommy went with Grandpa."
Struck in another dilemma, he massaged the back of his neck. He couldn't ask her his questions in front of his father. He was successful in doing the bullet from the previous article.
"Okay, thanks."
He stood there looking awkward, simultaneously his appearance stopped the raging boy sparking a ray of delight in one of them.
"Auntie Rosie is already here?! Kiara why didn't you say so?. I thought she sent you over first. Ha! I have to give her my gift too."
Like a switch, Allen transformed into a bobbly kid who loved his aunt dearly. He literally had flowers oozing out of him like a fountain of sunshine as he shrieked in delight at the mention of his favourite person in the world.
Not only Kiara even but even Magnus was shell-shocked by the change. Despite the fact that she did grow up with him and knew he was like an obedient puppy in front of her mother but loud and unreasonable to others, especially his uncle.
Wasn't he just putting a label to his relationship with his aunt and sister? what's with this rosey scene?
Then Eric shocked them more with his reaction.
"Stay here you brat, I'm giving her first."
Allen let loose a wild grin before taking off while yelling.
"Last one is a rotten egg."
"Hey you!!!!" Eric hollered back before giving chase.
Most people mature with age. How do some people get it backwards?
How was it that Eric never seem to mature.
"Err! wasn't that Mr Eric?"
The problem with today's children is that today's grown-ups are idiots. Period
Kiara stared at them glommily before heading off with Grandpa Dywen's assistant who surprisingly had blended with the shadows while keeping watch the whole time. Her mood soured even more.
Then she remembered her mother's word and let a smile stretched on her small lips.
Sometimes the best revenge is to smile, move on, and do nothing.
She just needed to smile because she knew she would succeed, her victory had already been given just as fate decided to grant her heart desire.
Because you know the harder you fall, the higher you bounce back.
