Four years later
She named her Kiara, her little ray of hope, well actually she just googled out the name from name.com in a desperate conclusion. She never like children it was Rachel who had forced her to be her child's godmother.
It was during her second trimetry it had started with bustling laughter between them.
(Oh! Rose how can you say you hate kids that against a woman's duty)
(Exactly why I dislike it and I said dislike, I don't like kids)
(Well sucks to be you cause you are definitely gonna be my baby's godmother and guess what! news flash you are also naming my baby)
(Don't do that Rachel, I can't.... what would Daniel say?)
(Daniel would be honored..... So will you do it Rose? will you name my child and be her godmother?)
It's funny how the words we had once said absentmindly hold so much significant, how a normal request became a vow/ a promise only difference now is that she wasn't here.
She wasn't here to watch Rose change from a scholarship transfer student to an iron clawed woman. Four years was enough for her to have full custody over Kiara, graduate with higher class from the best university in San Francisco to become the personal secretary to the vice president of one of the richest world finance business.
It was always Rose dreams to soar the business world while Rachel dreamt of establishing her fashion industry. She might not be here but Rose help fulfill that dream of hers through Kiara whom she still considered a reincarnation of Rachel.
Rose wasn't one to believe in superstitions, she wasn't from around here, she was brought up in a Christmas home. She had higher IQ and would rather believe in the true meaning of life through science.
She started having doubts each time she saw Kiara.
Kiara was a bright child with a mature mindset something Rachel wasn't. She had met Rachel during her last year in high school as a transfer student in Manchester High, Singapore. A school where children of different races studied together. Singapore in general is a big city with adequate population with a steady system that ensures one's future.
The first time they met, It was the coldness in Rose's eyes that had drawn Rachel to her , the loneliness and broken spirit yet she had the aura of authority, a sharp tongue and an air of an 'A' scorer, She was different amongst the sea of white wolves, Rose didn't cower in fear like the rest of the black sheep instead she stormed the halls with her head held high, the fact that she was beautiful with good shape also benefited her.
Rachel admits to befriending her to absorb her courage, she had just been betrayed by people she considered her friends when she saw Rose as the perfect role model to stand up for herself. Rose saw her as a beautiful European barbie doll with low IQ and minimum EQ but she didn't judge her, she consider her situation as an effect from her household, Rachel was born in a polygamous month where everyone lived the lifestyle of 'every man for himself', which was true because the moment they became best friends there were tremendous changes in Rachel, now Rose only wish that her upbringing of Kiara would be of greater difference.
And it did pay off.
"Mommy!!!!!"
A ball of red energy dashed towards the entrance of a kindergarten, where an elegance woman who had just descended from a yellow Bugatti the latest edition that had every parent there staring at in awe stood.
The woman tall with bright chocolate brown hair that seem to glow red under the sun and flow with the mild wind was dressed in an office wear of a blue shirt and pencil skirt, her simple outfit that high lightened her figure and brought out her beauty that attracted attention from every citizen.
She squatted down to welcome her ball of bright sunshine into her arms blinding the men around with her enchanting smile, her brown eyes twinkling like golden specks.
"Mommy you came!, yay!!! you actually came!."
The little one both chided and welcomed her mother whom she had hardly seen this past few day as she was always busy with work. Her eyes were shaped crescent as she hid those green eyes of hers with how happy she was radiating seeing her mother.
Rose felt her heart tug at the image in front of her, she hadn't know Rachel from birth but the pictures still contrasted to the little rain of sunshine in her arms, she was just four years old but at time she behaved older than her age and that both scare and delight Rose.
The driver side of the door opened and out came long legs in rugged jeans before flat wash back abs up to an alluring face, dark brown mop of hair were swaying with the gentle wind, his bright blue eyes were smiling down in mirth.
He had the single mothers digging for their phones to snap a peek, men glaring in envy at the picture of the beautiful family.
What they didn't know was that his outfit was just a disguise that didn't do well to blend him in.
The little girl gasp loudly in her mother's arms happiness.
"Uncle Eric!!! you came too!!."
She left her mother's arms to greet her very own best friend, the only other person apart from her mother who loves her unconditionally, if only he could marry her mother and become her father but even she knew it was impossible.
The man picked up the little bun effortlessly it had the women around aweing and the men glaring at his ripped posture in envy.
"Of course I would come little KK, it's summer break and you know what that mean....?."
He purposely dragged the ending of his sentence just so they could both yell the next sentence together.
"THE AMUSEMENT PARK!!."
Rose shooked her head at the two of them, rolling her eyes at how childish they both become at the mention of the park, she understood her daughter's delight but Eric? he was specifically a man - child.
"Get in the car you two and continue your conversation."
Rose ordered before opening her side of the door to seat fully knowing that those two didn't have her time as they were still busy planning out how many rides they were going to enter.
"Little K, you are going to love Wonderland, San Fransisco is different from Singapore, here the parks are the main attractions and we have cool and fun rides and games, large picnic areas, miniature golf courses, batting cages, go-karts, bumper cars, bumper boats and water slides, roller coasters, Ferris wheel, dark rides, as well as other events for entertainment purposes, oh!!! we are going to have so much fun"
The little ones eyes were sparkling from the back seat at the sound of aura the fun she could have, She stared at the back of her mother's seat letting loose her childish aura that was contagious. Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it.
"Mommy can I go into the haunted house? I heard the have one for kids."
Rose replied back sternly, avoiding her daughter's eyes.
"No sweetie, It's R-13 for little kids."
Eric noticed the interaction between the mother and daughter from the driver seat, he chose to become their reference to help strengthen their communication bond. It's how he had been helping role when she absorbed herself into the business, losing her personal life and the little girl that always seek her out. Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it.
"Relax Rose, I'll be there so let her have her fun. AH! how I miss being a little kid with no stress, worries or care in the world."
Eric had a soft look on his face that made Rose envious. She masked her emotion by scolding him.
"UGH! you are such a child Eric, I'm still worried so no."
"Hey! there is the saying that If you carry your childhood with you, you never become older. So where's yours?"
Eric's question took Rose by surprise, she was quick to turn her face away from the observing look of Kiara and Eric, hiding her pain. At the age of 5 she gave up on her childhood and engaged herself in grownup stuff to block out her loneliness through her achievements but that same engagement gave her a bad experience.
(Lost and destroyed.... or so I think because for the past four years with you and Kiara I felt like a child again)
She had been feeling that way but she never said it out loud for she didn't know how to voice out her feelings. They do say the greatest healing therapy is friendship and love.
It was going to be the start of a new summer and also the start of a twist of fate.
