In the very likely event that I didn't get to write any new chapters and was feeling too sick to get it done, here are extras, that I still decided to write out when I was sick. Fun little fact, the production of this book started back in November of 2020, right after my first surgery to take out my thyroid. I am still going through treatment, but it should be done as of March 8, 2020.
I'll be talking to them as their time skip versions while trying super hard to not spoil anything, so treat this as kind of like an interview of actors. Anyways, on to the characters!
Zhou- Hello! I am Zhou Liuxian, the main protagonist of The Greatest Liar! Actually, my story hasn't exactly started yet as of right now, but that's fine! The script has a lot of pretty cool scenes that I'm looking forward to being in!
Author- Good, good! So, I want you to answer this as the actor- what do you think Zhou's personality is like?
Zhou- Zhou's personality? Ah, that's kind of a hard question. As a kid at this moment in the story, Zhou is just kind of going with the flow. His personality is kind of flat at this moment, but you can already tell that Zhou is going to be a very ambitious kid. As he learns more, you can tell that he's developing super fast.
Author- As the author, I was very hesitant about writing a young kid curse as much as he does, but I think it was an appropriate choice. What do you think?
Zhou- Oh yeah, Zhou curses quite a lot. It was mentioned that Zhou and Ye grew up on the streets for a while before they joined their current sect, so it's not completely unreasonable that Zhou curses, especially as a rebellious kid. Although, it's kind of funny to think that Ye has tried to get him to stop but had to just accept it.
Author- True, Ye must have had it hard with keeping Zhou out of trouble. What do you think about Zhou's relationship with Ye?
Zhou- His relationship with Ye is a very special relationship, especially because it seems that Zhou really only talks to Ye. I don't think that Zhou is anti-social or an introvert, but he does have trust issues.
Author- Well, that's all we can really talk about Zhou without spoiling anything about the script or his personality. Next, we have Ye!
Ye- Hello! I am Ye Zhong, the second main character of The Greatest Liar! Like Zhou, my story also hasn't started yet. Ye has some very interesting moments as well in the future.
Author- Yes he does, and absolutely none of them are filled with angst! Anyways, what do you think of Ye's personality?
Ye- Ye's personality is very fitting for being raised as a noble. He's kind of like the introvert who's adopted by an extrovert. I think that calling him cold wouldn't fit him, but he definitely is very quiet. Well, compared to how he is as a child, he's actually quite talkative.
Author- Listen, you're only one traumatic event from being a completely different person, so Ye is bound to change. What do you think about Ye being a genius?
Ye- Ye being a genius is very fitting for him, especially with the explanation behind it that will be coming up in the future. Actually, I don't think that Ye is using his power to the fullest potential just yet, and there's definitely a lot he still has to learn as he gets older.
Author- Ah, that's a very interesting way of seeing it. Now, how do you think Ye sees Zhou?
Ye- I think that Ye sees Zhou as not exactly like a younger brother, but definitely more special than a friend. I doubt there is anything that Zhou could do that would make Ye leave him. As Ye said, he feels a special pull to Zhou that he can't explain.
Author- And that's the analysis of Ye! The last characters we'll be talking to are the first characters that died that have a large impact on the story, at least in my opinion.
Shen Bo- Hello! I am Shen Bo the bow user, the character that died in one chapter!
Feng Hui- Hello, I am Feng Hui, the character with the most development in the story so far!
Author- Yes, this first part of the story was mainly written around Feng Hui and his journey! Do you feel that Feng Hui's mentality had anything to do with his death?
Feng Hui- Yes, I do think so. Feng Hui's mentality was very, 'I have nothing to call my own and I nothing I do will ever make the people around me proud,' way of thinking.
Shen Bo- You made me proud though.
Feng Hui- Yes, Shen Bo really did help Feng Hui feel better, but without professional help or being pushed off by Ye, Feng Hui's life might have ended in a very different way.
Author- Yes, if Shen Bo wasn't brought into the story while I was agonizing over trying to figure out how to give Feng Hui a satisfying end, his story would be much different. I knew already that I wanted to have Feng Hui die, and originally, he was meant to have killed himself. It was very heavily hinted that Feng Hui was depressed and suicidal, and he was one of the reasons I had to change the rating of this book to a higher grade.
Shen Bo- Awww, poor Feng Hui. But I do feel like giving Feng Hui this end was the best way to let it end.
Feng Hui- Yeah, I agree with you. And with Feng Hui keeping most of his thoughts to himself only for them to come out when pushed over the edge was also something that definitely fits his character.
Author- Yay, you guys agree! What do you think about Feng Hui's changed sexuality at his moment of death?
Shen Bo- I mean, I have no complaints about it.
Author- Of course you don't lover boy.
Feng Hui- I think it definitely did fit him. For someone who feels like they need to be the best, him having internalized homophobia just to be into men himself was definitely a nice twist. It just made it even sadder when you remember that Feng Hui can't even apologize to Brother Gong and Brother Mo.
Author- Definitely sadder. Now, Shen Bo was a character that I came up with on the fly. When I introduced the character that dropped out of the tree, I was going to write it as Zhou, but I felt that was a bit too predictable. Do you think the addition of Shen Bo was needed?
Shen Bo- I definitely think so. Feng Hui has had it hard his entire life, and Shen Bo was kind of like his paradise. Feng Hui's life revolved a lot around being cold and dark, but he always described Shen Bo as being bright and warm. When Shen Bo died, taking away that warmth, it drove Feng Hui off the edge.
Author- Yes, it definitely did. I was crying when I was writing this scene because I felt so bad for Feng Hui. I feel like his story would resonate with a lot of people, and I am no exception.
Feng Hui- By the way, Feng Hui and Shen Bo stepped into their next life, so are they going to show up later in the Greatest Liar?
Shen Bo- Oh yeah, I was wondering that. You've still asked us to stick around even after their death, so there must be something you need from us, right?
Author- ... Anyways, that's all the time we have for today and-
Feng Hui- Wait, wait, wait, are we coming back?
Shen Bo- Yeah, are we coming back? We need to know.
Author- Ohohohoho, technically, you'll be making an appearance in the future, but you won't be in this universe.
Shen Bo- Does this mean that we're getting a series of our own?
Author- Maybe. Maybe that book is already in production. Maybe you've been in production for longer than you've imagined. :)
Feng Hui- Wait, what? What's the book called? When is it coming out? Do we get a happy ending?
Author- Please, the book has a name and a plot already, but I have no idea when it is coming out. And I'm not exactly in the writing business to give out happy endings. Happy endings aren't good for the ecosystem.
Feng Hui- You demon.
Author- Ehe. Well, that's the first extra for today! The next extra will probably be an interview with Brother Gong and Brother Mo! Ju and Amos will also be interviewed in the future, and depending on how fast the pacing is, maybe even some of the Feng family will be coming in. Have a great day/night you beautiful creatures!
Shen Bo- Bye bye!
Feng Hui- Bye!
Zhou- Goodbye!
Ye- See you soon!
