Chapter 10 - Blind Folded?

The next day Cipher woke up to a surprise, sitting in the chair next to his bed was a woman staring at him. The woman had pale skin, pointed ears, dark green eyes, and brown hair, she was absolutely stunning. Cipher stared at the woman for a moment he couldn't get past how beautiful she was. Cipher guessed she was probably in her 30's, but she looked like a fantasy movie star.

Yuri had shown up around 5 o'clock at the behest of Axel, anyone that knew that man understood if he needed you it exclusively meant a new Knight of Light had appeared. After showing up Axel had briefed her on Cipher, his past, his weapons, and his experience or should she say his lack thereof. She was baffled, why the Goddess of the Void would gift the Twin Stars to a boy that had never even held a sword before was beyond her. Understanding that the Goddess had her reasons she gave up on trying to question it, and instead committed herself to make him the best swordsman possible.

Walking through the halls of the church Yuri thought back to the last time she had been in the church, [It must have been 70 years or so] she internally said to herself. Finding Ciphers room she slowly opened the door wondering where he might be, looking around it didn't take long for her to find the boy in question. She closed the door behind her quietly, then walked over to the desk and sat down. At this point, it was about a quarter till 6, Yuri thought about waking Cipher up but could pull herself to do it. Hearing about Cipher's past and then seeing him sleep so peacefully, it felt wrong to have to wake him up. Getting a closer look at the sleeping boy he was very cute, he still had the face of a young boy but given a year or two he would be extremely handsome having women from all races swooning over him. Realizing that Cipher had woken up she said, " Hello I am Yuri, and I will be handling your morning and noon training starting today. I gave you a free pass today, but starting tomorrow I want you up at 5:30 sharp waiting out in the Courtyard".

The only thing that Cipher could think to verbalize was, "Yes, ma'am!" Yuri please with Ciphers response stood up and started towards the door as she left she yelled to Cipher, "Be in the courtyard in 5 minutes no later or I am doubling the exercises" before promptly closing the door. Cipher jumped out of bed got dressed and sprinted to the courtyard, he had no idea if he made it in time but he knew he went as fast as he thought he could. Looking in the courtyard he could see Yuri, hands crossed, tapping her foot, looking at her watch, in a tone that made Cipher feel very uneasy she said, "Let begin your training, shall we?".

Walking forward Yuri brought out a large black piece of fabric, looking at Cipher she said in a very plain tone "Turn around". Taking the piece of fabric she tied it tight onto Ciphers head, checking to make sure he couldn't see, Yuri explained, "Starting today you are not to take this blindfold off unless you are working with Axel or after getting a shower. You will eat, sleep, train, and walk the halls of the church with this blindfold on, if I find that you took it off for any other reason then I specifically stated there will be an extreme reprimand do you understand me!" Cipher immediately responded, "Yes, Ma'am". Looking at Cipher she gave his a curt nod then continued, "This is to help you develop your sixth sense, you much be able to react to things your eye may not see, you need to learn to trust your body and listen when it warns you of danger. There will be times when you travel to places where it is pitch black, this will help you understand how to transverse those areas and use all your sense to keep yourself alive. As a dual wielder, you need to have an extreme level of reflex, agility, endurance, and coordination, using one sword is difficult on its own so using to, 'pfft' to most it be ridiculous. I promise you Cipher if you commit you will become one of the strongest swordsmen in the land. Do you understand, will you commit?" Cipher yelling his response as if he was in the army, "Yes ma'am".

Starting from that point on Cipher's training with Yuri consisted of brutal physical training, hand to hand combat, weapon stances, footwork, swordplay, and so much more. When Cipher started weapon training it was extremely hard Yuri started him on his none dominant hand and hand him practice swings, then she had him practice swings, but making him stop short of hitting the dummies he practiced with. Learning how to do everything including walking the halls of the church blindfolded was an extreme challenge, to say the least.

After being told about the map function the Goddess of the Void had given him, Yuri prohibited him from using it at any point during their train saying it would defeat the purpose. CIpher had never thought of actually using it so he didn't care, the only thing that he had to help him was DEM, and that was only when it came to getting up. When it came morning DEM became Cipher's personal alarm clock, not totally approving of being a personal alarm clock DEM didn't mind doing it until Cipher got used to getting up at a specific time.

With time passing extremely slow within the church Cipher training progressed rapidly from an outside perspective, it helped that he wanted to do it, if he didn't the training would have definitely gone way slower in comparison. Eventually, Cipher was allowed to train with his twin stars, that was when things got really interesting.
