*Ring* *Ring*
I snap out of my daze, realising that I have stood in the same place for tha past few minutes. Also that first period starts in five minutes and I am probably going to be late! I have four lectures today, two before lunch and two after. Now, I have Math. Great! Just my luck. I rush towards the Math class and reach just in the nick of time. As I find myself a seat and get settled, the teacher comes in as well.
"Alright, students, everyone please settle down," says the teacher and the classroom becomes silent.
"Good morning, everybody. My name is Sandhya Shetty. I will be taking your Math this year. So, I'm sure you brats wouldn't want to do Math the first thing in the morning, that too on the first day of college, so, everyone, introduce yourself to me one by one. Just your name and one thing you're good at will do," says Miss Sandhya. I never thought I would be able to skip Math without actually skipping it, but who am I to complain? I mean, I may be a scholarship student, but Math just eats my brains out. No offence to those who like it.
Well, Math is like trying out a new recipe. When you do it the first time, you don't have complete grasp over it and would make a lot of mistakes. As you slowly practice it, you understand the core of it, and voila! Now you have perfected it! So is Math.
I noticed only now, who was sitting beside me. It's Miss Popular. Wow, I have some luck. She turns to look at me and smiles. Wow! How can a smile be so pretty? I was so lost in her smile that I didn't realise the it was already my turn to introduce myself. Oh my God! Am I turning lesbian? She just giggles and looks on ahead.
I stand up since it's my turn to speak. "Hello! I am Anjali Naik, I am a scholarship student here and I am good at physics mainly." I say, lightly blushing.
"A scholarship student? Good, at least I have one of those in my class. I'll be keeping high expectations from you. Anjali, right? Come meet me in the staff room when you are free. Preferably in the lunch break." I just nod and sit down.
"Wow, physics huh! I am really bad at that, could you help me if I need it? Probably with tuitions? I could pay you if that's what you want," Eleanor says. "Uh, sure! I guess I could always do with some extra cash," I reply happily. She just smiles and stands up for her own introduction.
"Hi everyone! I am Eleanor Brown. My mum's a celebrity which lands me here. What I am good at?" she thinks for a while and says, "well except for collecting information on anything and everything, if you need help with English, I'm always happy to help!" Eleanor says smilingly and sits down.
"If you need any help, feel free to come and ask me!" Eleanor turns to me and says, and by this time, I'm sure everyone is looking at me with jealousy in their gazes. I just smile awkwardly and look around the class. To my surprise, everyone was looking at me. If I wasn't being obvious enough, that was sarcasm. Of course I felt their gazes on me.
Class soon ended and I walked towards the direction of my next class, Biology. Ugh. To be honest, I don't like Biology. Oh God, who am a kidding? I hate Biology with every fibre in my body. Nope! Won't use the word 'cell'! That's too Biology. Why do I hate Biology? Well, when you dissect insects successfully, without gagging, ask me the same question again. And that's just one of the reasons. I would do very well if you asked me to butcher a chicken, but an insect? Yuck! If I could, I would have dropped Biology a long time ago. But since I chose science in FYJC, Biology is a compulsory subject. Which, honestly, sorry for the language, sucks.
On reaching my class, I was surprised. Or was I? Guess what? There's the fourth Royal. In my Biology class. For the rest of the year. Could I be any luckier? Note the sarcasm.
She entered the class right after me and sat right beside me. I sat on the first bench. I know, nerd much... but that's me for ya'll. She just sat there with AirPods stuffed in her ear. She was extremely beautiful, I'll admit that. Heck, she was so beautiful that she could make Goddesses envy her and Gods covet her.
Her skin was as fair as milk, a natural pinkish blush covering her cheeks, her eyes were beautifully shaped, with the most gorgeous baby blue colour one has ever seen. Her eyelashes were long, thick and curled, they were the perfect frames for the beauty they encapsulated. Her eyebrows were perfectly shaped. Arched like a bow and sharp like a sword. Her nose was straight and long. Her lips were shaped like Cupid's bow and looked plump and juicy. The beautiful small black mole below her lower lip on the left side just added to her beauty. Her chin was pointed and her neck was long with curls of hair hanging down on it.
God! I'm seriously doubting my sexuality!
I don't know why but she also seemed somewhat familiar. I think it was because she was as beautiful as a painting. But that's all she was. Something seemed missing in her. Her eyes were clear and attentive, but blank and cold. She seemed ethereal, but also detached. She looked like a cold flower that bloomed at the top of Mount Everest. Something you could only see but not afford to touch. She seemed inhumane.
