Chapter 4 - MURDERED?

Biology went by just fine. Fine because we didn't have to disect anything. Yet. I wonder if they will have us disect any ... ugh... cockroaches as part of Structural Organisation in Animals. Ugh. God save us, but I can't do that. Just the thought of it alone is enough to make me gag. The rest of the class passed by uneventfully, what with my silent desk mate.

Although I was grateful that she doesn't speak during explanations, I found it weird that she doesn't speak to anybody from class even when class is over. Well, not like I was hoping to make friends with her.

Now it is lunch break and I'm wondering what to eat for lunch. I would usually carry my own lunch but I was late today... you know... dreaming and all. Making friends was quite an out-of-the-world question for me. I love to have friends but, just, when it comes to making new friends, I get tongue-tied, anxious and panicky. Like I can't speak or something. Well better luck next time, Self.

Now, one of the advantages of going to a college near the beach is - amazing street food. I went to one of the many Pav Bhaji Stalls, and ordered an extra spicy Pav Bhaji, which was, by the way absolutely delicious. You know, there is something about it- the thick, spicy curry that feels as if it could set fire to your mouth- paired with soft, soft Pav, just sends an explosion of flavours in your mouth. Yum! And after, of course, was Kala Khatta. After lunch i went back for class.

Class got over soon, and before I knew it, I was walking towards my homestay. I live too far away from college and travelling every day is a serious pain in the ass. My stuff was already moved here last night, and while moving, the only thought that came to me was that I could finally stay away from that Devil I call my brother. To be honest, I love him -just a little but yeah- however I cannot, no way in hell, stand his sarcastic statements and quirky humour. I guess that's just geniuses for you. Oh! Did I fail to mention? My brother is a once in a generation genius in computers. Hah! Must be something about genes.

On reaching my homestay, I was met with the owner of the house, a very kind lady whom we call Auntie Richa. Nobody knows if she is married. Though, in my opinion, her being such a beautiful, kind and intelligent lady, and at her age, she probably is. Though I've never seen any signs of men in the house. I greet her, and go to my bedroom and start studying for, well, school.

As night falls, I realise I'm hungry. Like, duh. Of course I'd be hungry. If you hadn't guessed from earlier, I'm a foodie. I live to eat and I'd probably die of hunger too. So, me being myself, I decide that extra spicy chicken wings with barbecue sauce and coke sounds good for dinner. And don't ask me how I manage to eat all these spices every day and still keep my stomach intact. Must be an Indian thing I guess? Anyways, I eat my dinner, and that's about it for how my UNEVENTFUL day ends. Haah, I'm tired now. Gotta sleep to wake up early next morning.

The next day was Tuesday, and I had the best class in the world today, Physical Education. See what I have for luck? Garbage I tell you. Like who even needs exercises? Not me! Honestly, I'm surprised none of the Royals is in this class with me. Now, let me see. I share Math with Eleanor, Biology with Kavya and Physics (best subject in the world) with Siddhant. So the only person I don't share a class with among the Royals, is Aryan Adani. Hope we don't share ANY class. I've heard terrible rumours about the guy, and there are a few that I for sure do not wish to confirm.

Classes start at 8 a.m. every morning, and guess what, the teacher came late! A whole 15 minutes of the 1 hour lecture. And then we just introduced ourselves to the teacher and wasted a whole hour. Then, from 9:00 a.m., was another torture hour in the name of Biology. Again. Two days in a row. But I'm somewhat coming to like this subject, as the teacher is really good and friendly. Unlike my previous teacher. We called him Hitler. Honestly, the man lived under a stone, with a stick up his... you-know-where.

Lunch came soon at 1:00 p.m.. And today I'd carried my own lunch. I got up early in the morning to make it. It was a simple sandwich, nothing much. After lunch, were two other classes, after which I went to the college library to get some reference books. And since I've already taken the pain to walk all the way here, I decided to stay and study here as well.

By the time I got up the go home, the sky was a beautiful hue between red, yellow, pink and purple. The sight was breathtaking and so was what I saw in an alleyway while returning to my homestay. And not in a good way.

There stood three buff men, who definitely looked like they were goons, in a triangle, and in the middle stood a shorter and visibly weak person. Who on a closer look, was a young girl. Oh! My! God! Wasn't that... Kavya Deshmukh!? What was she doing here, between these goons? Oh my god, is she being kidnapped? Mugged? MURDERED? Ok wait, the last is not possible... is it? Oh God, Anjali, this is not the time for that. Think of something to help her!

I decidedly threw a rock at one of the buff men. As soon as they saw me, they took off for whichever rathole they had come from. Heh! Turns out, they were wussies. Now that I notice, Kavya was still wearing the same expression she is always wearing. Cold and detached. Almost like dead. ~Gosh girl! The least you could do is thank me! I just saved you after all.~ I thought.

Just then she said, "Thanks, but I could have handled that on my own."

Oh come on! Is it so hard for you to admit that I just saved you? You won't die if you just acknowledge my help, would you?
