Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Alred rounds the bend. The shouts and cheers of a fight erup from the far end. He pushes his muscles a little more. Just as he about to launch a black shadow appears next to him. Alred jumps to the side, slicing the black shadow. Alreds earth blade stops.

"Not bad. Better than what I was expecting. Alred Wooden?" Alred freezes, who ever is in this black shadow knows him and is clearly strong then him.

"Wh… who's asking?" He tighten his grip, he pulls his blade away from the shadow. With his surprise the black shadow let go. The black shadow suddenly starts to fade.

"My name is Helix." First his head came through. His bald head has a slight glow to it. A thick piece of skin grew across his eyes. It almost looks as if visor for a knight. "I have been looking for you " His long slender neck lead to a thin body hidden in a large black robe. He holds no weapon that Alred can see. A skull necklace and a ring in the shape of the sun. "It seems she had made up her mind."

"Wait. Who are you? How do you know what is going on here?" Alred looks closer at the man.

"I am no one you have ever met. I come from…Hmm." He rubs the top of his chin with his index finger. "Lets say a group of Mages. We heard of this dragon from your grandfather."

"WHAT!" Alred stops himself for attacking the man. He has been searching for him for five years with no news.

"He is an amazing mage. I see he has trained you fabulously! I must be going." He chuckles a little and shakes his head. "I do not know where he is. I only stopped here out of pure curiosity. She's picked the path." He pulls his hand into his rob, Alred can here the clack and clank of objects as Helix rumbles in there. He pulls a black stone out and quick flick at Alred. "This stone will guide you to me. Once you manage making a master element crystal, come find me. I think I'll pick you."

"Pick me for what?"

"Nothing you need to worry about right now. Get stronger Alred, a crusader is a hard path to walk. Good luck." The black shadow wraps around Helix, who waves and then simply vanishes.

"What a odd person. Strong too. He's picked me for something and I can't wait to figure it out." A fire floods through his body. This is a new goal to become stronger.

"My name is Heinrich Goldbert, may I request your name?" Heinrich pulls a small dagger from his belt. He holds in backwards so he's able to block.

"I'm Agis, the only son of Chief Ylros." Agis says with pride.

"Oh, a war chiefs son. Well, let's finish this fight." Heinrich rushes forward. He thrust his sword forward. Agis barely manages to block the incoming attack. He looks at Heinrich sword. A lite blue glow wraps around the blade. "Pretty nice sword. I never had enough mana to become a mage but I'm able to use magical weapons." Wind burst from the sword. It throws Agis against the wall.

The already long blade starts to grow longer. With each swing, the wall around Agis cuts open. Agis slowly sinks into the rock, sinking to the ground. Agis has never seen a weapon like this. Talkow was the only mage in the village. He never did anything like this.

Heinrich comes to a stop. Jumping off to the side. A mass of earth spears aimed to where he stood. He looks into the darkness, only to see a single red circle dancing. Even though Heinrich only has a small amount mana, he's always been sensitive to the force power of people around him.

"This, it's a whole other level." Heinrich stumbles back a few feet. Just as he stopped a wall of ground snaps shut. The forceful impact pushing everyone away.

"What the hell is going on here? Which mage shut this entrance?" Franks voice spooks the men laying on the ground.

"Sir, the only mage here is Sir Vane." Heinrich stampers while he jumps up.

"Mages, lousy bunch." Frank snarks. He then pushes the wall with a little force. The outer wall cracks. "Follows me. I know of another way in. We have to hurry."

"Are you two ok." Alred walks closer.

"I've been better. How is she? She took a big slug to the face." Agis moans as he pulls himself up.

"Shes still breathing. Can you walk?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine." He rips his spears blade out of the ground. He holds it like a sword.

"OK, I'll carry her. We need to hurry. We also need to talk, your people were the others that were attacking. You saved my life, I believe you mean me no but what about the dragons?" Alreds sword still sticking out.

"Mother dragon is my God. Where she goes I must follow. Even in her death I will worship her. My people came to kill her. They sensed her weakness. My people believe that if we offer the body of our dragon another would come to take its place. Fools." Alred smirks at the dragon zealot.

"Sounds good. We need to go. We need to get her and her egg out of here." Alred shouts. He picks Laena up. They run back to the dragon. When they walk into the cave. Else is laying in the creek around the world tree. Her claws locked onto the bottom of the tree. Big deep breaths shows she still alive.

"Alred, It is time." Tear form in her eyes. He lays Laena down. Running to her, he wraps his arms around f her face the best he could. "Take the egg and flee. Once I die the father will come,. You need to hide for a bit. May the great Mother Dragon bless both of you. No! They are attacking again."

She lifts her large frame off the floor. It shakes a little. She struggles with each step. Alred race too catch up.
