"SIR!" A young soldier comes running up to the throne. His face bright red as he gasp for air. "The Havricks have made a move."
"OK, send the men to meet them in battle. This is what my general's are for." Charles half spits at the soldier.
"That's the problem Sir. They aren't attacking us. Frank lead a total of ten squads into the Kings forest. That was yesterday. We haven't seen any other movements." Charles drums his fingers on schism wooden arm.
"Double the men on the south and west parts of the Ivory walls. We can not afford to let them sneak attack us. Dismissed soldier." The soldier bows, then tur s running out of the room.
"There be only one thing in that forest they could seek." The dull voice speaks out of no where. Charles didn't jump, it was the voice of the man he trust the most.
"Alistar, you do not think they are attacking the dragon?" His eyes fill with worry as he leaps out of his chair. He heads toward the door. "I think I will send a squad to check."
"Do not fret my King." Charles stops, looking back at Alistar. "They will gain nothing from dragon. Her life is almost over anyway. Besides, Master Lake is in the area looking for Alred at the moment."
The mention of Master Lake calmed him down. He would prefer if Master Wooden was here but the last he heard about him was not good.
"Good. I should not have to worry then. Tell me, any news on Melvin? Its been five years."
"No my Lord. Last word from him was when he crossed the Waveless sea."
"I should not have sent him. I was blind to the reports that Havricks were trying to overthrow me." Charles punches the wall in front of him. "Once we finish this civil war. We will send a party after him. Not having all of our Master mages here makes me worry."
"I must agree and I already have the mage for the job." Alistar speaks, then blows a ring of smoke into the air.
"His grandson, Alred?"
"No, Alred has some training he must complete. I would like to send him. The mana is telling me Alred has gone through a few changes."
"He is still alive?" Charles almost jumps for joy. "I was afraid we lost him.
"I just felt it this morning. A surge of power meet with another. It seems we have a guest my Lord."
"Never able to sneak up on you Alistar. Your sensitivity with mana is second to none." Helix said from sitting on the throne. "Ugh, this thing is uncomfortable."
"Helix? What in the world are you doing here? We thought you died?" Charles rushes towards the mage.
"I did, a few time too I think. But luck always seems to be on my side. I came here for a reason and must make it quick." He looks at Alistar then to King Charles. "Melvin is alive. He ran into some trouble but my Master was able to help him."
"You came all this way to tell us this? I appreciate knowing this but why not send a letter?" Charles ask.
"Because he is really for another reason." Alistar beat them both.
"Right again." Helix tries to roll his eyes. The skin that covers his eyes moves up and down. "Once Alred has finished his mission I will be taking him with me."
"No." Alistar didn't hesitate. "The last time you took a apprentice, they died."
"We all die at some point. It wasn't my fault she couldn't handle the training. I told her to take her time, but no." Helix slumped back into the chair crossing his arms.
"That does not matter it was your job to keep her alive."
"What if I told you Alred has already agreed to it?" Helix looked towards Alistar. Alistars face darken. "Fine, then I guess I have no choice. Here." He pulls his arm into his robe, the clack of other stuff be shuffled around. He pulls a scroll, its sealed with black wax. The seal itself was that of a owl flying with a branch.
"Melvin sent you with a scroll and your just now showing this to us?" Alistars anger growing the Helix is here.
"No, this scroll contains Melvins signature."
"Dam-it Helix. Give me that." Alistar walks over snatching the scroll up. He pops the seal and read the content. "Fine, if this is what his Grandfather chose to do then it will be Alreds choice. But we are about to start a civil war. He can not leave until we are done."
"That's fine. I already told him what to do in order to start his training with me. Also, do you know what happen to him?" Helix grinned, looking between the Kin and the mage. Both of them look at him and then to each other. "Seems not. Guess you will be surprised then." Black smoke floats above the chair. Helix long go form the castle.
"He is nothing but trouble." Alistar mutters.
"Well, we need to be ready. Helix is the only Master mage to walk away from his kingdom." Charles shakes his head in remorse. "I hope that Alreds ties to the kingdom are stronger than Helix. Before he goes to find Helix, offer him a gift."
"A gift? My Lord although he us a promise young man, he is not a protégé."
"I disagree. For Helix who vowed to never come back here, did so and for one purpose. What does he know about Alred that we do not. Send Ozzy to find him. We need to find him before Master Lake."
"Right away my Lord."
