Chapter 25 - Record #24: Exposed

Year 4667 of the Unified Imperial Calendar:

Fourth Month, Day 18. (7:31 AM)

◇ Third Person POV ◇

After about half a minute, I managed to reach the server room without any further trouble. Gotta hand it to Isabelle's plans and information data. It was absolutely awesome.

In any case, I stood outside the 2 meter shutter, as I contacted Isabelle.

'I'm here, Isabelle.'

Unlike usual, Isabelle didn't answer immediately. She took a few seconds before she finally answered, [I got it. Please standby.]

'What's with the delay?' I asked. I was a bit curious.

However, contrary to my expectations, she seemed like she didn't know, [Delay?] she asked. Was it just a time lag in data transference? Well, it wasn't surprising. After all, we're literally hundreds of miles apart.

I decided to ignore the event, as I then waited. After 2 minutes, the shutter finally opened, and I entered inside. I stood near the entrance, 'So?' I consulted Isabelle, 'what now?'

[Please go in the center of the room, and find the Aether Core that serves as the data control center.]

'I see. Got it.'

I then did as she said, and went around as I kept looking for the center of the room. It was a bit strange as the room had a maze like structure. I concluded that I was just wasting time, so I just asked for help.

'Not good. This is taking too long, isn't there a faster way?'

Isabelle didn't answer immediately again, which made me quite nervous. I was wasting more and more time, and I was worried about milady. Also, she had mentioned that her data regarding the technology in this place being incomplete, so it was unknown if the enemy had methods to block remote interference.

But it seems my worries were dumbfounded, as Isabelle's answer arrived several seconds later.

[There is.]

'Really?' I asked in high hopes, 'tell me.'

[However, your location will be found out.]

I see. It was indeed a big risk. In other words, it would be up to me if I can succeed, even if we get the data from the server room, huh?

Well, I am a cheat with a massive mana capacity so I should be fine.

'Do it,' I told her, 'and what exactly is it?'

[I can use your collar to send out a probing pulse that will map out the entire room. We can use that to navigate.]

That's it! It's worth the risk!

'Do it.' I affirmed.

[I understand.] she confirmed.

Silence then came, but not for long. I suddenly felt a jolt all over my body, as the collar on my neck glowed, and suddenly released a pulse of pale blue light that scattered all over that room.

[We're found out!] she exclaimed, [I'm sending the data, quick. Please hurry up.]

As if affirming her words, the entire room suddenly glowed red, as the blaring sounds of an alarm resounded.

It repeated itself several times as a sense of crisis suddenly appeared within my head. The data from Isabelle soon arrived, and I started running into my destination.

However, as I ran, sounds of multiple footsteps suddenly reached my enhanced hearing, further heightening the wariness in my head.

Gritting my teeth, I enhanced my body, as I ran faster. I then drew an Aether bomb from my interdimensional bracelet, and threw it to the corner that the footsteps were coming from.

"Shit! It's a bomb! Get ba—"

BOOM!

An explosion resounded, as well as blood splashing the corner where it came from. There were also several human limbs that flew into the air from the explosion, but I turned my eyes away, and took out what I currently needed most.

From the narrow paths, taking out an Grand AM Unit would be a stretch, so I only took out a Mobile Armour. A miniature Ark, but with weaker specs. Unlike Arks, it couldn't fly, but it had all one needed for an assault mission. An equipment perfect for raids like this.

A white coloured mobile armour appeared that resembled the armours from fantasy knights and magic mangas, and it then opened up like a certain Iron-Man's suit. I entered inside, and the armour closed at it wrapped itself around me.

My body then felt enhanced further, as a feeling of lightness filled me up.

Heaving out a deep breath, I muttered, "Here goes."

The armour powered up, as I saw the armour light up in pale blue patterns. I then kicked the ground...

CLAANG!

...and a metallic sound of metal crushing metal resounded. Before I knew it, I had already traversed 5 meters forward. It was amazing, but I didn't have the luxury to split my focus for now. The power of the Mobile Armour was still to strong for me, as I was operating it at full throttle.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Instead of metallic thuds, it was loud and solid clangour that resounded everytime I stepped on the ground. The ground also faintly shook everytime my feet impacted, yet I didn't feel anything inside.

However, despite my observations, I still didn't stop moving even once. As my steps were basically being broadcasted in the entire room, a lot of guards them popped up, as they appeared in groups.

"Get the fuck outta my way!!" I screamed as I pointed my fist towards them. By my will, the gauntlet around my arm then split as miniature mana cannons appeared from it.

I steeled my heart, and then fired.

A whirring sound then came out as the cannons sucked my mana, compressed, and condensed it. The next instant, a high pitched sound resounded, as a blinding flash came from the cannons.

"AAAAAHHHHH!!!!"

Amidst the blinding flash, I heard screams but I pretended not to hear it. And finally, when the light settled...

...the sight of melted walls entered my vision as the people I had shot were all vaporized.
