''She's gone & who knows if I will ever see her again, you blew this for me, momma. If you just talked to me and kept Hazel out of it. Perhaps maybe she might still be here ''states Liam. Thinking to himself, wishing he knew where she was, mainly because that amazing woman has left without him getting a chance to tell her. How he truly feels and that he is ready to leap into something scary, but Hazel is a risk that he is willing to take to find happiness once again.'' I said I'm sorry, bubba, but why didn't you find her when she knew the truth. If you like her, then go after her. I can tell how much she means to you & I see that now, so what are you waiting for? Find her,'' says Avery.
''No, I'm not going to go after someone who doesn't even have the courtesy to tell me herself that she is leaving. As she said, we come from two different worlds; maybe it isn't meant to be after all,& I need to think about Thomas right now ''telling Liam not to going after her after all.
''Are you sure about this bubba? I mean, if you wait too long and let her go. Then you might not get a second chance with Hazel again & she is a great person who truly cares about you. Who has been there for you? I don't know many people who go to someone's family Christmas party with someone they recently met a few days ago. Or who helps with a town function or going to see a fourth graders school play? I know for a fact that most women don't do that unless they like you'' responds Avery.
'' Right, which ended in her leaving with leaving me a note, instead of saying goodbye herself, and if Hazel truly cared me, she wouldn't have left. The way it happened, I'm not chasing after someone who doesn't have the nerve to tell me face to face themselves and be honest about what they are feeling. I am better than that & you raised me better than that; Zoe never did that and was never afraid to tell me how she truly felt and was always about it, which is something I am used to in a woman, I guess ''says Liam missing his best friend more than ever. Maybe he deeply does need help & everyone around him was right about talking to someone, that can truly help him with what he is dealing with because, let's face it, the spirit of his late wife. Can only do so much for himself since the person Liam is trying to get over is herself in the long hall, and until he can accept that Zoey is gone? How is he supposed to develop real feelings for the potential future with Hazel in the long run? When everywhere he turns, he sees Zoey in her favorite places, which, let's face it, is around in this town? They were both raised here, met here, started their journey here, tie the knot here in Peppermint & created their family here.
''I know I did, but this is bigger than me & dad; I mean if you don't go Hazel & take a chance at a second chance at love. Then you might regret it in the long haul, bubba, and that's the last thing I would want as a mother is to see my children not go through a chance at love, ''says Avery.
'' I get it, momma, I do, but maybe this isn't my time at love; otherwise, the lord wouldn't be taking her away if he wanted me to be happy,'' says Liam.
'' I really think that you should rethink about this,& stop listening to what your mind is telling you & to follow your heart. You will regret this, maybe not now, but your possible future spouse is somewhere miles away shortly. I can feel it in my bones. I know it, bubba; trust me when I say this is your calling for a new & exciting love journey is just waiting for you to conquer it'' tells Avery wanting the best for her son and can see that Liam is desperately missing love in his life. Considering this last year to now is the first time he hasn't been in love in the past eighteen years to where he was once not in love. It was, however, with the lovely Zoey who brightens him up & made him alive with a bright light surrounding him. However, now, with her gone, it's almost as there is a gloomy dark cloud. Making to where he can't believe that anything remarkable or life-changing will happen to him with everything that he has lost.
''It wasn't only Zoey that I lost that night, ''states Liam, revealing the secret he has held in for the past year.
''What do you mean, Liam?'' asks Avery curiously about what her son is referring to at the moment since she wasn't aware of him losing anyone else?
'' Zoey was pregnant when she died; we were going to tell you all on Christmas Eve about our news last year you and dad were going to have a granddaughter her name was going to be Lily'' sniffles Liam as he breaks down into tears. Sharing a piece of heartbreaking news of information sitting on his muscular chest for a year now.
'' That's a beautiful name; how far along was Zoe the night of the accident?'' asks Avery, curiously learning about this new piece of information and is as well suspicious on whether her grandson knew about his baby sister or not?
''Three months along, we had this shirt for Thomas that said Big Brother on it'' tells Liam.
''I would have loved to see that. Do you still have the shirt to this day?'' asks Avery curiously on this new information about the grandbaby she never had a chance to meet. Although she thinks more about the baby girl, her son never met whom he created & brought into this world?
Liam only nods and can't even say the words since it is beyond torture to speak. It feels as he is stepping on glass every time he thinks about what he has lost. Not being able to hold his precious six-month-old baby girl in his arms. Seeing her beautiful face and eyes every morning, looking at his wife in the kitchen, his perfect life vanished in front of his eyes.
