Today was about the future. If Mila feared losing Mark, she might push him to agree to the divorce Anna so desperately needed. That fear was Anna's only leverage.
She packed her bag, making sure she had everything she needed before she glanced at her daughter. She didn't want to leave her behind, not tonight. There was a strange comfort in keeping her close, as if it was a reminder of why she was doing this—to break free from the toxic cycle that was slowly suffocating them both.
Anna checked her phone and saw that Mark's GPS was at a bar, the same bar he always seemed to frequent when he was angry or frustrated. He wasn't with Mila tonight—of that she was sure—but there was always a chance he'd find someone new to latch onto, someone else to betray her with.
