Chapter 229 - CHAPTER 229: But Not Yet, Not Just Yet

Drake walked over when Willow had fallen asleep for the second time because of her tears.

He carried her and let her lie on his embrace as he leaned on White Tiger.

"Was I wrong in my decision?" he started asking White Tiger.

"What do you want to hear from a beast?" White Tiger asked.

"I don't know. But I know you will have no answer and so I asked you. I want to think things through on my own without the rest influencing my decision," he replied.

He wiped Willow's face with a dampened cloth.

"You kids are seriously pitiful," White Tiger commented.

"Even though we can't remember, Qirin's and Vermilion Bird's first host. We remember ours and they didn't face this much pain and difficulty in their journey to get rid of darkness."

Drake remained silent.

"Maybe because teh darkness back then didn't like hide and seek. They come and confront them with every chance they get."

"Just as we develop, the darkness do as well. It is just normal that they are using their heads now," Drake replied.

"And yet they chose to use the most important ones," White Tiger followed.

Drake gritted his teeth as he looked at the fire that was still on going in the distance.

Then he looked down at Willow, his mind was churning.

Does he really want to see cry again because of losing someone?

Does he really want to see her in this much agony?

Does his hate really needs to ignore all other emotions?

He sighed as he came up with still no answer.

He grew up with hate as his accompaniment.

"I think..."

He snapped out of his thoughts when White Tiger spoke up.

"You don't have to hate to keep going, to become better. You can choose to protect and take back in order to become stronger. The will to take back your brother and the will to be there for her, these are enough for you to keep going in this life."

After speaking these words, both White Tiger and Drake remained silent.

Soon, he carried Willow back to where they set up camp, letting her rest properly before he went to the bonfire.

The rest are waiting for Saphira to return.

They were silent, unable to disperse the heavy atmosphere that were surrounding them.

This death-

No, this massacre is too much to take in, especially since they are the ones who are supposed to actually do the killing, against their very own wills.

They waited and waited and soon the sun came up but Saphira have not yet returned.

Instead they were visited by someone else.

"Mom," Stormie was the first to react.

And the rest followed.

Somehow all their parents are here togetehr with the heads, even the emperor and the empress has come.

"What are you doing here? You have so-"

Before Hunter could continue berating his parents, Felissa puleld her into a hug.

"How can we not be here? You were made to do something so hideous, do you think we would have left you alone."

Even they were unprepared for what kind of challenges their children will have to face, what more for them?

Each parent hugged their child, while Willow's father and grandfather stayed by her side while she sleeps.

It was the others who told them what Willow was currently facing.

Hunter had asked someone to pick up another body but since they are already here, they could take Raizen's body with them.

When her father saw him, "I can tell, he must have been a great choice."

"He is."

He turned to see Drake.

"He was a great man, conquered so much just to reach this point. They were very much compatible."

"It seems it was easy for you to let her go," Daniel asked.

Drake chuckled bitterly, everyone knew their feelings for one another after all.

"I was too focused on my hatred," he replied.

"But it was not easy."

"'Was'," Daniel pointed out.

"I was given an advise and that get me think. Am I really fine watching her cry because of the death of another? Or can I instead be the one and do my best to live in order not to see her grieve more."

Daniel looked at her, he knew how much his daughter loved him and knew that he feels the same just that his hatred was stopping him.

"This event woke me up sir," Drake looked at him.

"I don't want to see her cry this much again. I don't want to see her be in so much pain."

"Then you..."

"But not yet, not just yet. She needs to heal a bit. But I won't let anyone else pursue her."

Daniel blinked, Drake thinks of himself as unworthy for Willow but after what had happened, it seems he had changed.

"Well, whoever my daughter loves as long as they know how to protect her, I won't stop them to be together."

"Thank you sir."

After a whole lot of thinking, this is the answer he came up with.

White Tiger was right, his life has already started changing the moment they came together after the tragedy.

And because of that the answer came to him so naturally.

He won't stop getting back his brother's body and won't stop in killing Raynisha. But he wojn't live in hatred anymore.

He will live for himself and the people around him.

"Where's Saphira's family?" Hunter asked after his mother stopped hugging him.

He was feeling heavy but he wasn't too devastated, he knew when to separate his emotions from everything else.

As compared to the kind Saphira, he can deal with what had happened faster.

"Oh, as we came over, we saw the fire on Hydra Kingdom. They went down after feeling her there," Felissa replied.
