Chapter 18 - CHAPTER 18: Not Saying Anything At All

True to what all of them felt, more beasts went on a rampage and the water started moving differently.

It didn't take long before the giant snake appeared before their very eyes.

True to their prediction, it was indeed staying in the shore and not the cliff or the forest.

As long as 300 meters, with white scales and body obviously oozing with poison.

"Stormie stay at the back and give barrier protections instead. Nixon be prepared to give healing aid when necessary."

Saphira gave her command without waiting for Hunter, she had been doing that back when they were children.

But this time, Drake showed obvious dislike to the way she was acting.

"Stormie could help in fighting," he called out referring to her sharp wind attacks.

Saphira glanced at him but didn't comment to that at all.

Hunter remembered the words she would always say in the past.

"I will give you commands that I think will help us best but you still have your choice. If you deem it that you can still do something else without falling short to what I told you or what Hunter told you to do then do it. No one will stop you."

He sighed and speak of these words, Roc actually told Stormie that Saphira gave the best option for them.

The wind could get the poison away from the person. With her control over the wind Saphira gave this command.

'She acknowledges your strength,' was Roc's words.

Together with Hunter recounting what Saphira usually says, their battle started.

Saphira jumped back, it has been two hours since they left the camp and started fighting against the giant snake.

More than fifty was down, Nixon was unable to give help on time.

He focused on fighting that he had forgotten what Saphira had tasked him to do.

The giant snake might be big but it is fast, together with the fact that they are battling it in water made things even more difficult.

"Sir, I would like some of your men to get our companion, he must be done with everything by now," Saphira asked Ezekiel.

The ones in the forefront of the attack were Hamlet's team.

Those that are down, aren't necessarily dead, but the poison might kill them.

Ezekiel nodded his head and called for his fastest team to get Ridge to be there fast.

Saphira rushed forward as well and for the first time in the battle used her fire.

She haven't used it since yesterday, wanting to train her sword more but the time is not permitting her to do so.

She went up behind it through the water and threw a fire ball.

The moment this landed on the body, a small explosion activated.

It had caused damage but she realized that the smoke coming from the burnt flesh was also oozing with poison.

The snake struggled and flicked its tail towards her, she defended with her sword but was still sent tumbling on the water.

Since it is chaotic, no one truly noticed what had happened.

The rest of her companions were busy on their own battles as well.

After coming up to the surface of the water, she looked down at the wound on her side when she noticed too much blood in the water.

She also knew that the poison had entered her system causing her weakness.

'I haven't truly gotten my knack of things back. If I am at my top condition then I wouldn't be wounded so easily,' she sighed and berated herself for having her guard down.

When she looked around she noticed that those fighting with the other beasts accompanying the snake were the small number of fire ability users.

But they are closing in to the body of the snake.

The ones fighting in the forefront were mostly the water ability users. Because the battle is taking place in the water.

But before she could warn them, these few fire ability users started sending attacks towards the snake that she had no choice but to interrupt this.

"WHO STOPPED THE ATTACKS!!??!!"

Ezekiel was shock as well that he roared.

"I apologize sir, I had attacked it before hand and the body may be damaged but more poison was coming out. It would cause more damage if we are to attack the snake with fire unless Ridge is to come," Saphira rushed from the water and said.

She coughed some blood, showing signs of being affected.

"Saphira!" Hunter was close by and saw this scene.

He also saw the wound on her side but she just raised her hand and shook her head, "I'm fine."

She then returned her look at Ezekiel, "But sir please have the fire ability users to remain on standby and focus on the other beasts for now."

Ezekiel agreed readily but he was even more in awe towards Saphira, she had taken the liberty of trying a different attack without knowing what will be the outcome.

Stormie became focused on her attacks as well she didn't realize that her wind barriers are already lacking.

Roc had to remind her from time to time.

"Saphira," Nixon approached her.

He helped heal the wound on her side but she still coughed up some blood.

"Where else are you wounded?"

She shook her head, "This is now because of the poison, the antidote is what will help me now. Return to the others, there are more wounded over there."

Stormie was glancing at her side as well.

If she focused on protection then she would have seen that Saphira went in for an attack, then she could have helped her before the poison were to get to her.

'Focus for now, you can think about such things later on. She wasn't saying anything and was instead focused on the battle. You should do the same,' Roc reminded her.

She wasn't the only one feeling that she should have done better because Nixon was feeling the same, especially since Saphira was not saying anything at all.

They subconsciously chose not to listen to her command, they subconsciously stopped listening to her properly despite the fact that their beasts have told them that it was a good decision.

If this was the past, Saphira would have berated them during battle but not only did she not berate them, she didn't comment about anything at all.

At the same time, if it was back then, both of them would have listened readily.

Now because of their neglect, she was even injured and other men were the same.

At the same time, they actually asked, each of them.

They asked the beasts if it was the best choice to call for them now to help but the beasts replied that the poison was even more potent towards beasts.

But they are sure that Ridge had already created antidotes and potions against the poison both for humans and beasts.

"Saphira!!"

Saphira looked back and saw Ridge rushing to her.

"I heard you were poisoned as well?" he was obviously worried.

"I am fine, have you helped the others who were poisoned earlier?" she asked.

Ridge nodded his head, the moment he arrived, he gave them the antidote and that's when he heard from Nixon that Saphira was also poisoned.

The giant snake realized that most of its minions are down that it chose to escape.

"Don't follow it, let us re group first," Hamlet and Ezekiel commanded the same thing.

After receiving the antidote, Saphira swayed.

"You are not okay at all," Ridge supported her and said.

"A rest and I will be fine. Let us go to where the rest are, I want to speak with sir Hamlet and sir Ezekiel. You have potions against the poison right?"

Ridge nodded his head, "I'll give it to them."

Four hours later and most of the injured were already sent back and the others have properly rested as well.

"We thank your group for understanding the movement of the giant beast. If not for your prompt actions we would have been wiped out today seeing as it indeed came through the shore with such movements," Ezekiel thanked Saphira when she approached them.

"We came here to help sir, it is only right that we divulge every information out there that we could get," she replied.

Then she turned serious, "But we wished you could have told us everything as well."

"Everything?" Hamlet asked, it was their group who answered most of Saphira's group's questions after all.

"The poison affecting the beasts, inborn or accompanying."

The two captains looked at one another before they realized that they indeed said nothing about this.

A few knights in their group and the two of them have inborn and accompanying beasts.

"We apologize we didn't mean to not tell you. Because you have no beasts that we neglected that information," Hamlet said.

Saphira shook her head, "I am not finding fault sir. But in a battle I think we are all aware that we need every single information that we could gather."
