Beotis Harrison, the dreamy mundane teen of seventeen, had never in her wildest of her dreams thought that something like transmigration would happen to her. Not until the day she came across the book called 'Give me your flower'.
The day before she had transmigrated, she was reading this 18+ adult novel called 'Give me your flower', but halfway through the book, she became so annoyed with the leads of the book that she chucked the book into a squalid corner of her room, not bothering to finish the rest of the novel and went to sleep with a frustrated heart.
And now, the next thing she knew, she had transmigrated into this dog-blooded Mary Sue adult novel.
'Give me your flower' was an 18+ reverse harem romance novel with twisted characters. All the others who were not fellow psychopaths were either decapitated or beheaded.
And among them, the first one to kick the bucket was Beotis Lagraine, a side character little villainess who barely even made an appearance in the novel.
Beotis Lagraine was a distant cousin of the female lead, Keona Amilda who hated her guts because all the men she fancied ended up falling in love with Keona. And thus, the stereotypical bullying.
Needless to say, bullies of main characters never really end up well. Such was the fate of Beotis Lagraine, the minor character with the same name as Beotis Harrison. Beotis only remembered this character because she had the same name as her.
Keona Amilda was wanted by all the reigning powers in the Eldora continent and the reason for it was that she was a contractor of a light familiar, the rarest of them all.
The novel 'Give me your Flower' was a world of fantasy romance where the story takes place in the capital city Algaroth, of the Ishtavelle Empire, the largest country occupying a vast myriad of territory across the Eldora continent.
The people in this world had unique abilities to connect to nature spirits. They worshipped mother nature and the elemental spirit Gods. And from them, they drew their magical powers that helped them guide throughout their lives.
The deific spirits they are contracted to becomes their familiars, a part of their souls and protected them until their last breaths. There were five kinds of deific spirits. Wind, flame, water, earth and light spirits. Wind, flame, water and earth were fairly common amongst the people of this world. But the wielders of the light element were so meagre in number that they had almost become extinct.
It was said that a light spirit wielder is born on the night of a blue moon only once every five hundred years. The reason why they were so sparse was that the light spirits were Gods themselves. But they were fallen Gods, and hence, it was very hard for a soul to contain the powers of a light spirit. Not to mention the fact that the manifestation of a light spirit was as hard as to grasp a shadow. One's life has to hang by a thread, or they had to go through a near death experience for them to be able to manifest their light spirits. But when the light spirits finally manifests, it is as if it were the birth of a whole new soul entirely.
Some spirit contractors have deeper soul links with their deific spirits while others soul link is not as powerful. The stronger is the soul link between the spirit and the contractor, the greater is his or her spiritual powers.
There are two ways a person can cultivate deeper soul bonds or links. One is hereditary, their blood decides to side with them. Deific spirits most compatible with a person's bloodline form a soul contract on the day they are born. These unique bloodline are rare, and thus they become the nobles. They are more powerful than average people due to their bloodlines and hence, the power of a country naturally flows into and through their hands.
The other way to strengthen one's soul link is mind fostering. Over time, a contractor can increase his spiritual powers by a method called mind fostering in which the contractor has to go through rigorous spiritual refinement to strengthen their soul link. But how could it be so easy to strengthen one's soul link? Not to mention that mind fostering is different from person to person, and it take one almost a lifetime to understand the practice of mind fostering. It is an extremely delicate and dangerous process. If one were to commit an error during mind fostering, the deific spirit's overwhelming psyche takes over the contractor's mind and under its assault, the fragile mind of the contractor breaks down, causing him to devolve into a deific mindless berserker.
Thus, very few people dare to delve into mind fostering thoughtlessly, except for the nobles and the ones hungry for power, of course. Though the nobles have it relatively easy to delve in mind fostering, but with great power, comes greater impediments. The stronger a contractor's soul link becomes the more he is prone to devolve into a deific berserker. As such, no one has reached the pinnacle of being a true spirit contractor, where the contractor's mind completely merges with the psyche of the deific spirit. Not until Keona Amilda appeared and Beotis Lagraine's soul was sucked out and devoured by one of Keona's suitor as revenge for messing with the female lead.
The reason light spirit wielders are so sought out is not because of their unique healing abilities, but because they work as a pacifier when wielders of other abilities are about to evolve into their higher level of powers. One of the many advantages of being a contractor of a God spirit.
Though at the beginning of a light spirit manifestation, the powers of a light spirit wielder are very weak but because they don't suffer from mind fostering backlash due to their Godly spirit familiars, with adequate time and effort, they have the potential to become one of the greatest contractors in the entire world. So who wouldn't want to covet such power?
Not only that, if one were to devour a soul of a light spirit contractor, they will never in their lifetime, will suffer from any backlash during mind fostering. This was not yet discovered until Beotis Lagraine's soul was devoured by Eugene Arkwright, the sole heir of the Arkwright duchy, the man who became the first true spirit contractor in the history of Ishtavelle, and Keona Amilda's one true protector.
