Chapter 1 - One

The room was eerily quiet as the four men gathered at the table glared at each other in anger, each one steaming silently unable to unleash the reason for their anger.

The room was dimly lit and was painted in black courtesy of a certain vampire. The door was left ajar to let a little light in but the interior of the room was so dark it absorbed the light.

The room spoke of aura and incredible power. It also spoke of immense anger—bad blood between the occupants of the room.

"This place sucks!" one of the men finally exclaimed. He was a tall man in his early 30's with tattoos on his arms and his chest that was open. He was dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, the shirt was slightly open revealing his black-ink tattoo of a phoenix on his chest.

He was a werewolf, Alpha Damon of White Flame Pack.

"Why? You prefer your dog house," another snorted at the Alpha.

This one was a man in his mid-forties. He had a small beard and was dressed in a long flowing black robe. His thin lips were pulled back into a sneer as he stared at the werewolf.

He was a vampire, Draco, one of the most respected in his clan and he was very arrogant and dangerous.

The werewolf growled at him and the vampire bared his fangs preparing for a fight.

"You two can grovel back to your holes once this is settled!" the third man growled. He was a thin man in his early 20's but in reality, the man was at least a thousand years old.

He had black beady eyes which he used to scrutinize people and read their minds. His black trousers and leather jacket made him look like a teenager. He was the leader of the witches and warlocks council and one of the most powerful and oldest warlocks alive.

His name was Zedicus and he was famous for his cunning nature but at this moment, he wasn't cunning.

"You guys can keep bickering or maybe we can finally start this meeting," the last man sighed.

He was a hunter, Aaron Luther. He was among the leaders of his clan and one of the most dangerous hunters ever.

He was in his late 40's but didn't look a day over thirty. He was dressed in khaki shorts and a T-shirt. His hair was styled back courtesy of his daughter and he looked serious.

The room quietened and they all turned towards him.

"It's quite unfortunate we have to meet like this," Aaron continued, "I would have preferred each of you to be at the end of my stake and sword but karma can be a bitch sometimes."

"Tell me about it," Damon sighed, running a hand through his dark locks that kept spilling over his eyes.

"As much as we hate each other we have to work together before we become extinct," Draco said.

Zedicus snorted. "Work together with a hunter?"

"Scratch that, hunters," Draco pointed out with a groan.

Damon cast a disgusted look at Aaron. "Why should we trust you?"

Aaron knitted his brows together in concentration. "Well, starting from the fact that you're still alive and there are no other hunters here."

"He makes a good point," Draco said.

Damon glared at Draco. "Whose side are you on?"

Draco raised a defensive hand. "Hey, don't judge me! I'm just stating facts."

Zedicus shrugged. "He's right though. The fact that this place isn't crawling with hunters shows they mean business."

"Or maybe he couldn't contact them," Damon snapped.

Aaron rolled his eyes. "We're all in this together, wolfie boy."

"Call me a boy one more time and I'll show you!" Damon growled.

"Enough!" Zedicus exclaimed.

"We've all seen with our eyes how the hunters are being slaughtered with our kind. I don't think they mean any harm to us at least not until they can stop depreciating in numbers," Draco explained.

"If we are ever going to find out whatever is tormenting us we need to do it together. We already tried working on our own and we lost more people," Aaron said.

Damon sighed. "What do you suggest?"

"Let all of us gather at one place on the next half-moon so that we can keep watch and find out who has been attacking us," Zedicus suggested.

Draco wrinkled his face. "Where are we ever gonna find where we will stay on that day?"

Aaron shrugged. "We don't have a big place."

"We can't afford to stay separately else the plan won't work," Draco sighed.

"What about White Flame Pack?" Zedicus asked.

There was dead silence after the question and everyone in the room stared at Damon.

"There is no way in hell I'm letting a hunter talk more of hunters stepping foot into my property!" Damon growled.

The three men sighed collectively.

"We aren't coming there to fight but to make sure that we're all safe," Aaron groaned.

"I don't give a flying fuck if you all die!" Damon snapped.

"Same here," Draco chuckled.

"Yeah, yeah. We all dislike the hunters but at this point, I think we have to compromise a little," Zedicus said.

Damon glared daggers at him. "Provide them with a place to stay."

"It is important that we stick together!" Zedicus sighed.

"We don't know what or who is that powerful to attack us so I think we should all stay in your pack, Damon," Draco added.

"As annoying as you are, bloodsucker you make a pretty good point," Zedicus said.

In a flash, Draco was behind Zedicus.

"I can show you just how I suck blood, Zed," Draco snarled, baring his fangs and leaning to sniff the warlock's neck.

Zedicus chuckled as he flexed his wrist. Draco doubled over in pain groaning as he clutched his head, blood oozing from his nose.

"Quit hurting him, Zed!" Aaron snapped.

Draco inhaled sharply and collapsed on the floor clutching his head from the intense pain he had felt earlier.

"Damn you warlock!" Draco moaned.

"So what's it gonna be?" Aaron asked.

Damon gave him a skeptical look. "I don't trust your kind, hunter."

"Any more than we trust your kind, wolfie," Aaron shrugged.

"Alright. All hunters are gonna swear before the blue flame not to attack any of us until they've left the packhouse," Zedicus suggested.

"Spiffing idea," Draco clapped his hands beaming.

"It's cheating. We can't take an oath when we don't know if you guys are gonna spring a surprise attack on us," Aaron stated.

"So what do you want to do?" Damon asked, glaring at him.

"I say we all take an oath before the blue flame," Aaron replied.

"Not a bad idea if we aren't planning on attacking them," Zedicus chuckled.

Aaron glared at him and he raised his hand defensively.

"What? I was just stating the obvious," he shrugged.

Damon mused quietly for a while before he sighed.

"Fine. When are we all gonna take the oath?"

"Two days from today," Zedicus replied, "The half-moon is in six days."

"I guess this meeting is over then," Draco started standing up.

One after the other they all left the room except Damon who remained behind to gather his thoughts.

He couldn't believe he was going to host the clan who had taken away his joy and not be able to hurt them the same way that they hurt him.

He ran a hand through his hair and brought out his phone to dial his Beta number when he saw three missed calls from him.

He quickly called back and was surprised when he heard the Beta giving orders.

"What's going on?" he asked through the phone.

"You're alive!" his Beta, Ryan Foster exclaimed.

Damon blinked. "Did you expect me to be dead?"

"You went to a meeting with a hunter and I've been trying to reach you through mind link and phone call all to no avail!" Ryan exclaimed.

Damon chuckled lightly. "I'm fine, ok. It was the stupid vampire that chose an underground venue due to his sun phobia so there wasn't any way for me to contact you either."

"I'm just glad you're alright. Are you coming back now?" Ryan asked.

Damon sighed. "Yes, Ryan. I called you to get the packhouse ready for guests."

"Guest? How many?" Ryan asked, surprised.

"The entire clan of warlocks, witches, vampires, and hunters are coming here in six days," Damon replied.

"Entire clan… But Alpha the packhouse has been closed for years now," Ryan stuttered surprised.

Damon sighed. "It's just for the half-moon. After the half-moon is over they're back to being our sworn enemy."

Ryan was silent for a while over the phone before he cleared his throat. "Understood, Alpha."

Damon hung up the phone and sighed. If his parents were around they wouldn't allow any hunter to step foot into their property.

Fucking slimy bastard! He swore before grabbing his briefcase. This was his cover whenever he came to the human world. He always dressed like a businessman to afford too much attention.

He would bid his time and wait until they've destroyed the pest killing them then he would continue hunting those bastards.
