It was quiet and a large majority of people turned to the princess. She had the 'honor' of introducing herself first, even though almost everyone in the entire kingdom knew who she was and what she looked like.
"Ahem." She cleared her throat as she stood tall, "My name is Elizabeth Elewiza Aria. My dominant element is wind and I aim to become a swords-woman."
As she finishes, everyone claps as if congratulating her. Was this really necessary?
From the corner of her eye, she could see one person who wasn't even paying attention to her introduction. She gritted her teeth but still kept her smile. For some reason, the boy with white hair irked her.
Serece gestured to another kid, "Umm, my name is Jasper Sewale. I specialize in fire magic." The same timid boy from before. He was tall for his age, with dark eyes and murky green hair.
"Haha! Ah! He doesn't have a middle name; he's just a commoner!" A smug voice yelled. "Better not waste our time and get out of here! You piece of trash!" Laughter followed soon after as they mock the awkward teen.
Jasper averts his gaze to the ground and Serece clears her throat, though she made no comment on the occurrence.
"What trash," the voice muttered again. "My name is Davie Powle Renart. The eldest son of the Renart family. And we all specialize in light magic. Our family is known for nurturing the most talented archers in the kingdom." He boasts proudly.
Other students praise and compliment him, while he swims around in it. In less than five minutes, all fourteen students have been introduced; except Licht. Serece looked up at him and gestured for him to start.
"I'm Licht Trea Hershold. The adoptive son and last child of the Hershold family." He gives a small bow and sits back down.
"U-umm..." Serece peeks in, "Could you say...just a bit more...about yourself?" She asks, pinching her fingers close together.
"I'd rather not." He expresses with a sigh; he had no desire to get chummy with someone he had no interest in.
Serece pushed no further and shuffles through the pieces of paper she held, "Oh?"
She glances up at her students, her eyes slowly assessing each student one by one. "We have a missing student it seems." She states as she checks once again. She chews at her lips as contemplates her future actions, "Moving on." She calls out with a sigh.
"It's just a brief summary of the introductory lessons," She assured. "Students of the Hero class specialize and are nurtured for real-life combat. On occasion, we would have normal lessons, like Arithmetic and Geography..."
Combat classes will be compulsory and frequent. Starting now, students will be ranked according to their power levels; a new system made by the king himself. Seeing that, not all with large mana capacities are stronger. Students will be taught how to use the special attributes in battle and we will also review the magic theory from scratch...
".... If there are any questions-" Interrupted by the sound of the door slamming open. A panting boy with glasses, almost choking to death.
Serece rushes up to him, "Take your time. In.....and out..." She helps him regain steady breathing and his face burns red from embarrassment.
After all this, he stands and shuffles awkwardly; fiddling with his shirt.
"Now that you're here, can you please introduce yourself?" She asks with a smile.
"Ah...um...Name. My name is Matthew Breton, from the Breton noble merchants. Uh... I work best with water magic and...uh..." He trails off as laughter roars from the loud noble from before.
Following his lead, other students from noble families mock him. While commoners furrow their brows in confusion; even the princess gave a quiet chuckle. Tears well up in Matt's eyes.
"You bastard!" Davie exclaims with a chortle, "You don't even have the right to say the word noble, not to mention calling yourself one."
Matt clenches his fists tightly, "But we earned it," He whispers. Davie sees moving lips, he couldn't believe a nobody like him would dare talk back at him. "Want to repeat that you bastard?!"
The boy flinches, "I said," he begins, increasing his volume. "We earned the title fairly!" He was borderline yelling now. Davie bares his teeth at Matt, "A wannabe noble like you dares to talk back at me?"
"Light up the darkness that plagues man and give..." He begins chanting as he slowly raises his hand and aims his open palm at Matt's forehead. Matt is frozen in place, overwhelmed by the close feeling of death.
"Settle down!" Serece calls out as she pulls Davie back, but he still continues to chant. She tries to pill back his hand and halt his chanting but he seemed awfully concentrated on that one act.
'He's calling a full chant?! Is he crazy, we'll all die!' She yells in her mind as her eyes widen.
"Davie..." She calls out one more time, hoping that he would listen. She shuts her eyes tightly and sighs, "SETTLE DOWN!!" She yells as multiple waves of mana ripple through the air, disrupting his magic circle formation.
Davie falls to the ground like a doll, and other students turn their heads to barf. A few had withstood the ripple, but their faces were pale or green.
"I really didn't want to do this," She sighs as she picks Davie up, with his hand around her shoulder. Licht watched all this with unamused eyes.
