Raymond opened the door exactly when I finally got the courage to kiss Desmond's forehead. "Oh, sorry, did I interrupt something?"
He did but it's not like I can say it. "No, come in," I say and Desmond smiles at me and I bet he knows what's going in my mind.
Madison enters the room after him. She grins at me and says, "I knew something was up when you jumped from the window to get to the Prince. "Then she suddenly jolts as she bows to Desmond who's leaning on me and quickly says, "Hello Prince!"
And there's something in the way that she said which makes Raymond and I laugh and I guess Desmond is amused.
I realized that in the little time that Desmond and I had spent together, I got to know him so fast. I don't know what his favorite color or what's his favorite food is but there's just something there and I feel like I know him.
I don't know… I can't explain it but I just get him.
"Please don't call me that," Desmond said and his voice is soft. Madison looks up and she grinned and nodded at Desmond.
Madison is also good at reading people but I know that she's not able to read Desmond so she's still a little bit stiff.
Desmond is an open book that's written in an unknown language. You don't understand it at first, even though it's right in front of you but if you put enough effort and time into it, you will be able to crack the language little by little and then finally be able to read it.
"I heard you wanted me to send a letter?" Madison asks and she's still stiff. Her eyes are fixed on Desmond as if she's seeing some kind of famous art and in some way, she is.
Desmond and the power that he holds with his every action is something to see but I don't want people to look at him like that.
It's nice to be looked at like some kind of hero or a motion for freedom and equality but I want people to see Desmond for himself because I may not be able to read the whole book yet, but I do know that's what Desmond wants.
He's not here to be something else. He's not a tool. And if people keep looking at him like that… the pressure is not good.
Desmond is here and not in the palace because he wants to be himself. And before anyone looks at him in any other way, they should at least acknowledge Desmond first, not his status.
"I want a letter to be sent to the King," Desmond answered and Madison's eyes went wide. "And it's really important that the letter gets to the King and only the King. No one else should even touch it."
Madison nods. "I can do that." Her eyes are still kind of wide but there's no doubt in them so I guess that was because of the major shock, and that's good news, I guess. No one can ever be sure with Madison.
"Where's Richard?" Raymond asks and Madison turns to him and says, "Earlier before you get to me, he asked me what I wanted if I could have something from outside. Then he said to go and find you."
"Okay." Raymond trailed off. "That, I know. But where is he now?"
"That," Madison mimicked Raymond, "I don't know."
I subconsciously turned to look at Desmond and he's slightly smiling. I silently cheer for myself to catch the smile on his face.
The thing is, Desmond is unique. I love him. And it's a little bit weird because I don't know him but, in the meantime, I know him. I have no idea what I'm thinking about but I'm not going to ruin things with overthinking.
I love Desmond. I love the little but unknown thing that's going on between us. And that's it. I love it. No overthinking!
"Hey!" Richard opened the door and came in. "I got whatever that people needed. I divided them into two groups: can be useful and can't. And by the way, do anyone here think that we need 'a hot guy that's not a jerk'?"
Madison and I exchanged a look. "Was that Andrew?" I asked.
"Yeah, how do you know?" Richard said and Madison and I both stifled a laugh.
Andrew was the sassy one in our trio. Madison, Andrew, and me. I remember the start of all of our conversations, "Do you know any nice but hot guys?"
One might think it will get old and annoying but it just makes us laugh. He's hung up on a boy he dated for two years called Mark and Mark is hung up on him but they're both too proud to say anything and none had dated anyone ever since their break up—a few months ago.
"Isn't Andrew the kid in love with Mark?" Raymond asks and Madison nodded in answer.
"Whatever," Richard says. "Now all we need is to write the letter and send it." He looks at Desmond and I already had my attention on him, checking if he's okay and he is, for now. "Are you ready, Desmond?"
"Yeah." Desmond nods. "Bring me the pen and one of his letters marked with the royal signature."
