" This world will end, and all will die. "
" The only way to survive is the way of metamorphosis. "
" A mystic is the way I chose. "
" And at last, all begins from the pain in the heart. "
Those were the last words that were written in this book by the previous owner.
Reading those words Chris's expression was somewhat solemn, as he tried flipping the pages backward in order to get a better understanding of the situation he was in, as well as answers for some of the questions that kept bothering him till here.
' Why was my body in such a condition? '
' Why did the previous Chris die? '
' Why did he say the world will end and all will die? '
' What is a Mystic and what did he mean with the last sentence? '
Those were the questions that Chris needed to answer right now, in order to get a better grasping of his current situation.
Taking a big breath to calm down his surging emotions, Chris sat down at the chair in front of the desk, and only at this moment did he noticed that all the pain in his heart and mind were completely gone, but he didn't rejoice nor bother too much about it since he currently needed to understand what was happening to him and around him.
As he sat down Chris tried to recall all the memories that were poured onto him a while ago.
' My name is Chris Alexander '
' I live in the City of Trion of the Azue kingdom of the eastern continent '
' I grew up at an orphanage under the church of Lady Luck one of the six orthodox churches of this world. '
' I went to school at the age of seven and finished my studies at the age of sixteen. '
' It could be considered that right then was the turning point of my life. '
' After I have completed my studies and got my degree that day I went back to the orphanage to bring the good news to the people who had helped me and took great care of me till then. '
' I arrived before the gate of the orphanage and there I saw the girl that completely changed my life later on. '
' Right before me was standing a girl around the same age as mine with beautiful features dark black hair and dark deep eyes. She had a well-proportioned hourglass figure and she seemed a lot more mature than her age. '
' When I noticed her I was slightly stunned, before recovering and once again started walking towards the gate of the orphanage. '
' As I reached closer to her I noticed the tears hanging from her delicate face, and for some reason at the sight of this, my heart started to ache. '
' I couldn't take what I was seeing so I walked up to her and asked why was she crying. '
' The girl was clearly desperate as she started telling me her story without holding anything back. '
' From the girl's words, I learned her name, Amelia Alexander. She was from a wealthy family but due to an accident, her parents were framed and had all their wealth removed. Unfortunately, her tragedy didn't end there as just a few days later her parents were once again falsely accused of treason and the government had them executed. '
' Having nowhere else to go she directly came to the orphanage under the church of Lady Luck, as she was afraid that something unexpected might happen to her as it did to her parents. '
' The reason why she didn't go inside and was just standing outside the gate was that she was afraid that they might reject her, due to the " crimes " her parents committed. '
' As she told me her story till here her body started trembling, apparently still traumatized from the events that had transpired. '
' I couldn't watch her any longer so I grabbed her small hand and dragged her through the gate inside the orphanage. '
' As I was inexperienced in the ways of the world and didn't know how to confront her in that kind of situation I could only leave her with the female attendants of the church that worked in the orphanage, to deal with her. '
' A couple of days later I went and visited her again to see how she was doing. '
' What surprised me was that Amelia had an extremely strong character and mental fortitude which made her able to overcome her trauma. Of course, a lot of credits should also be given to the attendants who contributed quite a bit to help her. '
' After that, one year had passed. '
' During that year I and Amelia became closer and closer with each other. She seemed now to have completely gotten over her past and she would often smile brightly like sunshine. '
' Moreover, during that year I also wrote my first book since I had long ago decided to be an author, and unexpected to me it instantly made it viral and gave me a large amount of income. I donated some of the money I earned to the church as thanks for taking me in all those years ago and with the rest, I bought an apartment in the middle of the city near the cathedral of Lady Luck. '
' At the time I bought the apartment I was already seventeen and it was time for me to move out of the orphanage. Something that brought me a pleasant surprise was that Amelia decided to come with me not long after I announced that I was moving out. Of course, I didn't refuse the company of this beautiful girl. '
' So we moved out together towards our new home. The apartment I bought was on the second floor of a three-floor building. It had two small bedrooms, two other rooms, and one bathroom. We each occupied one of the bedrooms and as for the two other rooms one became my study and the other became the living room. '
' Just like that, we spent one month together nice and peacefully moreover our relationship has also gone quite far to the point I adopted her last name Alexander since I, myself an orphan didn't have one. '
' Unfortunately, as they say, times of peace never last forever as at the end of the month, close to midnight something terrible happened. '
' I was sleeping comfortably in my bed when out of a sudden I heard a shrill cry coming from the wall beside me that jolted me awake. Without a second thought, I got up and rushed to the room next to mine which Amelia was supposed to be sleeping. I arrived in front of the door and immediately kicked it open.'
Bang! the door burst open.
' When the door opened the sight before me, stunned me. '
' In my field of vision entered a man that was completely covered with black gas around him, making one incapable of seeing through him. '
' The man had his hand pierced inside Amelia's left shoulder, while she was screaming with a ghastly face. '
' The moment I entered the room, the man covered with black gas noticed me and turned into mist, his body completely immaterial as he disappeared through the window. '
' When he left I immediately runed-up to her and examined her, although her shoulder was pierced by that man's hand, there wasn't a single drop of blood, instead, the wound was covered in a black sticky liquid. The moment I saw this my face turned pale because the worst had happened. '
' And the worst that it could happen was the unknown. '
' Without wasting any time I tended to her wound and then quickly left to find a doctor to examine her. '
' Not long after I returned with the doctor to the apartment. '
' I initially had some hope that she would quickly get better, but that hope was like a flame that was suddenly extinguished by a bucket of cold water when the doctor told me that she was poisoned with three months left to live. '
' I asked the doctor if there was something to be done, only for him to say that the poison she was hit with was something he had never seen and was incurable. '
' Over the past week, I sought after eleven different doctors only to get the same opinion again and again. '
' At the end of the week, I stood in front of the door that led to Amelia's room, helplessly and slightly dazed from the shock I received these past few days and with tears rolling like rivers down my pale face as I was incapable of saving the love of my life and letting her die, in front of me. '
As he read through the memories until here, Chris's eyes were crimson red like the color of blood as he emitted a terrifying killing intent that filled the room, towards the man who caused all these to happen.
