' I opened my eyes, only for me to find the unfamiliar surrounding me. '
' I was confused, so I started turning left and right trying to see what was around me as well as trying to find what my current situation was like. '
' I noticed that I was lying under the shadow of a tree, and besides me was a small wooden box. '
' Out of curiosity, I picked up the box beside me and opened it. '
' Inside the box was a folded piece of paper. I unfolded the piece of paper, and I was struck by the familiar handwriting on it. '
' I looked at it carefully and slowly started reading the contents inside it. '
" My Dear Amelia.
When you read this I and your mother will probably be already dead. We left this letter for you only to tell you once again that everything that happened to our family was our misfortune so we both hope that you won't pursue this issue anymore in the future. We hope you forget about us, but at the same time remember the words we left behind for you the previous night and what you also promised us. Moreover, you should head over to the orphanage under Lady Luck's church, for your own safety. The people who brought us this calamity will not be able to find you there and gradually forget about you.
Lastly, we wish you to live a fulfilling and happy life, we sincerity your parents. "
Reading through here Amelia's body shook as she tightly held the letter in the midst of her palm while recalling the events that took place the previous night.
' At that moment I couldn't help my body from trembling slightly and my tears from flowing down my face, but I took a deep breath and forced myself to calm down because I promised them to stay strong no matter what. '
' I stood up, wiped the tears off my face, and started asking people for directions towards the orphanage since I had no idea where exactly I was. '
' Half an hour later, under the guidance of a few warmhearted people, I finally reached the orphanage. '
' As I stood before the orphanage's gates, I hesitated to walk in and stood there as an old tree under the sun. '
' My tears started to flow out once again. I was scared, scared if they were going to accept me, scared of the new life I was about to start and scared of the enemies hiding in the dark. '
' I was alone and scared. I stood there and let my tears and sorrows flow out. '
' It was at this moment that I heard footsteps from behind me and turned my head slightly to have a look of who it was. '
' It turned out to be a boy around the same age as me. He was smiling as he walked towards the entrance of the orphanage, but when he noticed me he slightly paused in his steps and looked at me. '
' The moment his eyes locked at mine, I immediately turned my head around and continued to drown in my sorrows. '
' I thought he was going to ignore me and walk right past me, after all in this world everybody has their own problems to solve and nobody wants to have more mess to deal with. '
' Unexpected to me, that boy walked in front of me and looked deep into my eyes. '
At that moment Chris walked right in front of her, looked deep into her eyes.
" Why are you crying? Don't you know it's a shame for such a beautiful girl as you to cry like that? Aren't you afraid it will ruin your face? Come on, stop crying and tell me what happened to you, I'm sure it will make you feel a lot better. " he asked slowly, as he smiled with warmth at the girl in front of him.
' At that moment I looked into the boy's deep brown eyes and warm smile. I was slightly dazed, I didn't know if it was because of his words, or if was too tired after all that happened, but I told him almost everything that happened to me, only leaving out some of the most crucial information. '
' I told him my name, Amelia Alexander, I told him about my framed parents as well as my fears of coming here. I spoke to him for almost about everything that had happened to me. I didn't know why I told him all of these but I did know that after I spoke to him I indeed felt much better, like a huge burden had been lifted off of me and I was now as light as a feather. '
' After I told him everything that I could, he suddenly grabbed my hand out of nowhere and dragged me into the gates of the orphanage. '
' Dazed by the turn of events, I silently followed behind him. We walked through buildings until we finally stopped. '
' We stood before an old building. He told me to wait while he headed inside. '
' I didn't know what to do so I just nodded my head to him. '
' Then I saw his back as he headed inside the old building. '
' Shortly after he walked back out with a female attendant following him by his side. '
' He introduced the female attendant to me and said that she would take care of me from here. '
' Then he turned around and started walking away. That moment I couldn't help but feel a sense of loss rising within me and I wanted to call out to him but I couldn't as I was dragged inside the building by that female attendant. '
' Inside the building, the female attendant helped go through the procedures of registering myself in the orphanage, before she led me around as she introduced the various buildings to me, and at the end of the tour she showed where I will be staying and my room. '
' The room was of medium size and it had a desk, a bed, one chair, and a window at the wall opposite the door. '
' Once the female attendant left me I leaped onto the bed and laid there silently. '
' When I was lying down I couldn't help but recall the boy that led me here. I didn't notice back there but now that I looked back at it his appearance was quite dazzling. He was a little bit taller than me and had black dark hair and deep brown eyes. Even though he didn't have any extraordinary marks his amazing facial features made up for that. '
' It's been a year since I got into the orphanage. During that year I got to know that boy's name, Chris, he often visited me during that year and the relationship between the two of us got closer and closer. I enjoyed the time I spent with him and he also helped me get past my trauma with my parents. '
' Moreover, during that year, Chris wrote his first book which after a while became quite popular bringing him a good income. '
' He donated some of his money to the orphanage and with the rest bought a house at the city near the cathedral of Lady Luck. '
' When he was about to move out of the orphanage I couldn't help myself but ask him to bring me with him. '
' Unknown to me I already started to depend upon him at that time. '
' We moved to the new apartment and spent our time peacefully together. '
' Again, during that time our relationship got even closer than before and he even adopted my last name, Alexander as he didn't have one since he was an orphan, '
' Still, even though our relationship has gotten this close, we couldn't be considered a couple as none of us had taken the last step to express our feelings towards each other. '
' Time flew by, but the peaceful days didn't last for long. '
' It was in the middle of the night, I was sleeping in my bedroom when suddenly I felt a pain in my left shoulder that jolted me awake and made me scream my lungs out. '
' I opened my eyes and saw a figure covered in black gas as he had his arm pierced into my shoulder. '
Bang!
' At the same time, the door to my room was kicked open and Chris walked inside. '
' When the figure noticed Chris, something weird happened. He actually turned into immaterial mist and flew out of the window. '
' I couldn't move, nor speak, the only thing I could do at that time was move my eyes. '
' I noticed Chris running towards me with a worried expression. He didn't say anything and he immediately bandaged my wound before leaving the room. '
' Shortly after as I was scared by what had happened I saw Chris entering the room with a man following after him. '
' The man walked up to me and examined my wound, he didn't say anything in front of me but I could guess from his expression that thing didn't look good. '
' A week had passed and in that time eleven doctors visited me and examined my wound, with Chris always following by their side. '
' In the past week the pain from the wound had spread all over my body and it continued to grow. '
' With so many doctors vising and my pain that continued to grow, I could clearly tell that I didn't have much time to live. '
' Two months had passed and the pain was almost unbearable. '
' In those two months, Chris rarely returned home. And when he did he was always in a measurable state. I could guess that he must be looking around for a cure to my wound. I was extremely happy when I saw this but at the same time, my hurt bled when I was looking at his measurable figure. '
' Now it is almost three months from when I was injured, the pain all over my body was unbearable and I was still hanging on because he told me. '
' Chris always stayed with me when he returned and he always told me to hang on, and he would surely find a cure. '
' Every time I heard him I always felt warmth spreading through my body easing my pain. '
' I knew he tried his best and he was constantly on the edge, in order to help him so I chose to believe in him and fight against the pain until he finds a cure. '
' At least till this night. '
' I could feel the pain getting more and more unbearable. I knew that I wouldn't make it to see the light of dawn. '
' I was extremely happy till now because he was always by my side. My only regret was that I didn't express my feelings to him before all of this happened. '
' And with that, I started to lose my consciousness. '
Bang!
' I heard the door being kicked open once again as well as a firm voice calling out my name. '
