Chapter 5 - Teacher meeting

"And just like that, a new year has started with a lot of new students. This year we have four different classes of hybrids with 20 students each, more than ever before. The hybrid training project seems to satisfy the higher ups of the colours a lot. We have even more funding this year, which should allow us to train all of them up to a higher standard than ever before. Has anyone caught your eyes yet?" a tall man with an extremely muscular build asked the teachers sitting around the desk with himself at the front, clearly implying his higher position in the school.

This man is Greg, the headmaster of the hybrid school. At this point in time there are five different hybrid schools among the human nation and two more are in planning phase. His job is to lead the school and pick the most promising students. Every single one of the hybrids is headed for the army but the most powerful and most promising ones will go to a special unit, which does all sorts of missions. This special unit however isn't known to the public and is still in development. With the special hybrid unit humanity aims to take on both celestial races.

Most of the teachers denied the question which could be considered normal as the teachers usually don't interact too much with the students on the first day, just some basic introductions. The intention of the headmaster however, was to find the students who already managed to stand out on this first day and with that, the most promising students of the year. Even so, most of the promising students will be discovered during the next couple days where the training will begin and the students can show of their talents.

"Well, Ms. Violet and I discovered quite a, let's say weird student. She is a demon Halfling with a human skin colour and very weak demonic features. Her horns every very small, just barely noticeable as bumps on her forehead and her tail is below average length too. For her other features, there is nothing really standing out, her height is about average for her age and with her black hair and blue eyes she certainly looks like a human at first glance. Those eye and hair colours however can be considered normal for demon hybrids. Most of the other kids gave her some angry stares, as they assumed that she is a human. She doesn't even know her subtype, so that's why we decided to do the special lesson on the first day with some other students who didn't know their subtype. The others were very predictable though and the test only confirmed our assumptions. For the girl however, we couldn't figure out her type of celestial energy, there was no reaction at all, even though Ms. Violet did the energy fusion for far longer than usual. She noticed the fact that this girl is rather weird as well, but we didn't tell the girl, of course. Still the most interesting thing is that she is able to see celestial energy without concentrating her own in her eyes, at least we assume that she doesn't have any clue about celestial energy whatsoever. This skill is something only pure celestial beings can do, from as far as we know", Mr. Black said, sharing his and Ms. Violets findings with the rest of his colleagues.

"So what is the girl's background?" the headmaster asked.

"We only know the kids name is Yoru and that she grew up in quite a famous orphanage. It is the orphanage created by the Red family, who aim to treat hybrid and human kids alike which only a very little amount of orphanages do. Most let the young kids vent their anger on the hybrids after losing their families thanks to the wars against the celestial races. But other than these facts, we don't know anything of her."

"Sorry to interrupt you but I think I noticed something else. While I was infusing the girl with my celestial energy her body reacted to it by seemingly heating up. She was noticeable sweaty after we finished the test. Normally kids don't react at all aside from feeling a little pain. We warn most of them that it may hurt but the bodies of hybrid are usually able to withstand celestial energy without any problems. They are even able to cultivate their bodies with it rather than getting damaged by it. She also didn't appear to be in pain and because we prolonged to test for so long, I nearly went full throttle on her. This would make most kids her age faint, as they aren't used to such amounts of celestial energy. It was as she was able to absorb my energy. I haven't seen anything like her so far", Ms. Violet added to the discussion.

"I would get sweaty too, if I held such a beautiful hand for such a long time" another teacher suddenly said.

"Stop it with the rude jokes. Ms. Violet may be a hybrid but she got adopted by the Violet family which makes her stand on an equal, if not higher ground than most of you. She and Mr. Black are the only colours in this school aside from myself. I won't tolerate such harassment in my office. Consider this a warning for now. And about the girl, Yoru. Keep everything that has been discussed here a secret. We will give her some special treatment for now but don't make the girl herself get aware of that. Try to find out more about what she really is. Ms. Violet, this will be your main task from now on, meet up with the girl at least once a week and get further information. Mr. Black, you will support Ms. Violet", the headmaster ordered.

"Yes, Sir" they both said at the same time, standing up and saluting in the meantime.

"And if anything special happens again with the girl, inform me right away. With that, this meeting is over, you are dismissed."

After all the teachers left, the headmaster went towards his seat and started thinking: "Maybe I'm just getting old but that girl could be of purer blood than regular hybrids. Most hybrids are born of a human mother after all, which makes them weaker in turn. But if a human male manages to impregnate a celestial being, the resulting kid will turn out to be far stronger. It's just that this hasn't been documented so far as humans only have a very low chance to impregnate a celestial being because of the difference in the seed. The girl certainly isn't a normal hybrid but we can only make some educated guesses until she is able to awaken her powers and wield them. She could just be a rare subtype which we haven't seen before, so no reason to get my hopes up like that. Still having a strong student in my school is always a nice to have. Maybe I should disguise myself and look after her."
