Ugh nooo! Why does this have to happen today? The best day that my alarm chose to stop working just happens to be my first day of sophomore year. Damn it.

I am Emily and today's the first day of my sophomore at Bailey High. And it's off to a baaad start.

I got up and gave herself the once over. I was a total mess. Just then, my phone rang. I picked it up to hear a deafening yell "Ohhmyygoddd. I'm so excited for today, Em. Are you ready?"

It's one of my BFFs Diana. She lives just a few blocks away and we've been best friends since childhood. She's an awesome dancer and is the diva among us. Lol. I don't feel jealous, coz she and I are equally idiotic. Hehe!

"No, I woke up late today. The dratted alarm stopped working. Still need to get myself straight."I replied to her.

"Well, fast girl. I'll be coming over in 5 and then we go to Lily's. Damn, I wanna see her new look for today.",gushed Diana.

"Okay, I'll make something out of myself. See you." I took a bath and tried to make myself look as good as I can. Looking at the result in the mirror, I was not so sure of myself. Is sophomore going to be as awesome as I want it to be? Maybe not. Am I ready for it? A big fat NO. I ran down to the living room to see Mom getting ready for work.

"Good morning Emily. Ready for your first day of sophomore?"smiled Mom.

This is my mom, better known as Jennifer Blake, head of HR, Fab Corporation. Yes, she works at the famous Fab Corp, which manufactures cosmetics. So, I am sometimes the object of envy as I get samples of the upcoming products like waaayyy earlier. That's the cool part. But she's too busy to take me to the mall, encourage me when I perform like normal moms do. But..I guess I still love her...she's my mom after all.

"Is one ever ready for high school, mom?" I complained ."Fair enough. Now, will you be going with Diana and Lily or do you want me to drop you?"Mom asked. I can't believe she's actually willing to drop me today with her busy schedule. That's like hitting the jackpot!!!

"But I said I'll go with D and Lily, Mom. Diana's coming over now. Thanks for the offer though. Love you Wish me luck."I smiled. I suddenly felt more optimistic. This year may turn out well after all. I will change things this year. THIS YEAR WILL GO MY WAY.
