Chereads / Arthur / Chapter 28 - Trip III

Chapter 28 - Trip III

"A Realm Quake?" asked Arthur.

Taking deep breaths, it took a few moments before Cisse could respond to Arthur. "Every once a while, RE suddenly becomes chaotic as everyone's surroundings suddenly warp. We still aren't sure what the cause is. Hell, I don't think anyone does. All we know is that they only started within the past fifteen years and have been increasing in frequency as time passes. Other than severe disorientation, there doesn't seem to be any effect on the Realm's inhabitants. However, the chaotic RE is a different matter."

"I see," replied Arthur, as he digested the new information.

WHOOSH!

Accompanied by a constant stream of green as they whizzed through the plains. The party had made phenomenal progress as dawn began to break on the seventh day of their trip.

Turning his head to the east, Arthur watched as the sun slowly rose over the horizon.

Bathing the land in a golden hue, the sun seemed to have breathed a breath of fresh air into the land. Feeling the rays of the sun, dew gently slipped down flora while some flora rose and bloomed. Then, like a well-choreographed orchestra, the fauna of the land began their bellows.

Observing Arthur's enthralled look, the party couldn't help but smile as they too slowly took in the dawn break.

Later in the day, cresting up a hill, the party took a pause as they surveyed their surroundings.

"We've made great distance. If we keep up this pace, we should get there by tonight," voiced Ayfia as she away a map.

KURU-KURU-KURU-KURU!

Just as Ayfia put away the map, the sound of galloping hooves suddenly filled the hills.

Moving their gazes in towards the noise's direction, the party observed two rows of Struthio(ostrich-ish)-like beasts pulling a ten-meter long carriage behind them. Though the beasts' forms matched that of a Struthio's, looking closer, they seemed more like like a two-legged Equus(horse-ish)-like beast.

[Name: Orz]

[Type: Beast]

[Rank: EEE]

[Threat Level: Depends]

[Description: Orzes are a rare beast found in the plains biome across the Realm. Though omnivores, their diet primarily consists of fauna. Like herbivorous beasts, they absorb a beast's essence similar to how fauna absorb from deceased beasts but still have the capacity to take it by directly consuming a carcass. They are also known for their high evolution potential but are even more known for their temper. As for why they are rare, it is because they are the de-evolved form of an already evolved species, the Orzaia.]

[Remarks: If determination had a picture, it would be of these assholes. Mess with one, and the fucker will chase you to the ends of the Realm.]

Seeing the Orzes pull the carriage past the hill, the group observed as a large number of horseback riders chasing after the carriage. Putting two and two together, the group exchanged looks.

"Should we interfere?" Asked Cisse.

"Not really a choice, more than likely, they've already noticed us, and once they've brought down that carriage, they will be coming after us." Replied Ayfia.

Hearing Ayfia's words, the group nodded in understanding.

Observing the chase, Arthur's sapphire and gold eyes narrowed slightly as his eyes darkened a few noticeable hues.

"Aegon, roar!"

"BRRR-OOOM!"

Following a deep growl, Aegon released a loud roar shaking the surrounding hills.

As the roar reached the raiders and carriage, the raiders suddenly stopped mid-movement, almost as if frozen in time.

"Amina, fifty-eight. One-33, one-38, one-89….Two-166, two-169….Three-191, three-259….Four-300, Four-333…."

Bow in hand and a blue energy arrow notched. Then, almost as if by instinct, in the few seconds Arthur spouted those numbers, Amina released an arrow while the rest watched as one arrow split into fifty-eight.

THU-THU-THU-THU-….!

In a symphony, all fifty-eight arrows struck true.

Seeing this, everyone immediately turned their eyes to Arthur, Amina included, as his eyes returned back to their normal hue.

Meeting the curious looks of the others, Arthur quickly explained," Aegon's roar has a paralytic effect, along with causing the natural RE coursing through targets to stagnate. Which in turn causes the natural defenses of a target to drastically drop even to the point of a non-awakened person. As for how I know how Amina's ability works? It was when she uh, 'warned' Karami. I figured out then that her physical daggers, bow, and arrows are more for situations when she runs out of RE. As for how I knew she would understand my numbers? Confidence."

Hearing Arthur's explanation, everyone slowly nodded in understanding while Cisse breathed, "Woah, you're scarier than I thought."

Shifting their gazes to Cisse, everyone, Arthur included, rolled their eyes as they thought the same thing. 'Like you're one to talk.'

[Tidbit 1: A tiger's roar has the capacity to paralyze any who hear it, this includes human professionals too. This is based on the roar's low frequency and volume.]
