Knock...Knock...Knock…
"What do you want!" Jenny's voice came from the other side of the door.
"Hi Jenny! It's me, Sarah." Sarah answered.
"Ok! I'm coming!" Jenny said back. There was fumbling from the inside of the room as Jenny hurried over and the locking mechanism was turned off to open the door.
When she opened the door Jenny gave a nervous laugh and said "I was gonna visit you and Max soon but didn't want to disturb you guys and your new friends."
"Sure Jenny, Sure." Sarah said sarcastically. "You sure that's the reason, or is it just that you didn't want to feel guilty when you saw how many people were sharing the rooms with."
"What? No!" Jenny said with a nervous laugh. "Totally not…" She cleared her throat and asked with a small voice "Is it bad? If you have to share a bed with others then you two can stay with us in here."
Sarah laughed and said, "No, it's not actually that bad Jenny. We have our own rooms and just share the living room. The other people in our section are super nice and most people just stay in the bedrooms anyways. I probably have only met a quarter of the people who stay in that room."
Jenny breathed a sigh of relief and said "Ok, well that's god. I was feeling kinda guilty when I abandoned you two. I haven't left the room since we got here because this place is so boring!"
"Oh, so then you didn't hear what happened?"
"What! What happened? Is everything ok?" Jenny asked frightened.
"Yea! Don't worry everything's ok, actually everything is great! So basically the world famous designer challenged me to a fashion contest when I gave him some tips on how to improve his dress and then after the two our long competition, I won!" Sarah said excitedly.
"Wow Sarah! That's wonderful! I'm so proud of you!" Jenny said as she pulled Sarah into a fierce hug.
"Thanks Jenny! I'm pretty proud of myself too. I was actually pretty nervous the whole time but tried my best not to show it." Sarah said, her nerves that she held back from the competition finally getting to her.
"Don't worry, it's over already and you won! You're so talented! You can sing and design!"
Knock… Knock… Knock…
"Ugh! Who is it now?!" Jenny asked annoyed.
"It's me and Max. We forgot the key cards to our rooms when we left."
"Alright alright. Here I come." Jenny said as she walked over to the door to open it for them.
Max and Mr. Fredrickson walked into the room, Max was holding a white suit and pants, newly fixed from the tailor's.
When Max saw Sarah sitting there he smiled and said, "Did you poke yourself too many times with the needle?"
"Ugh! You're such a jerk! And as a matter of fact, I only got poked once! What about you?" Sarah said back.
Max grimaced at the memory of the needles piercing his skin and said "5 times. They stabbed me 5 times."
"Oh geez. You alright?" Sarah asked, feeling a wave of pity.
"Yea, I'm good. I was wondering if you could let me into our room? I forgot the key card there."
"Sure. Let's go." Sarah said as she walked to the door. She waved goodbye to Jenny and greeted Max's dad as she walked out and placed her card into the slot, unlocking the door.
Sarah unlocked the door to their room with the pass code lock and let Max inside. Max walked over to the dresser and slipped his own key card into his back pocket. He turned to Sarah saying, "You said that you had something for me?"
"Oh yea, I almost forgot all about it!" Sarah answered as she hurried into the closet and unzipped Max's suitcase. She grabbed the letter and looked to make sure it was still sealed and walked over to Max. "It's a letter from the Queen." Sarah explained, "She said that it was super important and confidential."
"The Queen? I wonder what it says.." Max said as he wasted no time opening the letter and flopping onto his back, holding the letter up to read it.
"You said it was confidential?" Max asked, confused.
"Yeh. The queen told me that it was a secret." Sarah answered.
"Well, it's not confidential. I think she was probably playing a trick on you or testing you.?"
"Testing me? Why would the Queen of Lelen test me?" Sarah asked.
"To see if you were loyal. She was probably watching behind a monitor to see if you would open the envelope even though she had told you not to."
"Well then, it's a good thing that I passed!" Sarah said, grateful that she hadn't taken a peek.
"Here, have a look for yourself at what the letter says. It actually is about the ball, everybody who is staying in our group of rooms probably got one." Max said as he tossed the letter to Sarah. Sarah caught the letter and began to read.
Dear guest,
This is a letter regarding the royal ball. The following thing's will be listed; Spelling of names, titles, time of event and we would like to inform you that both you and our guest will be provided with a seat at table 2. Table 2 is for the extension of the royal family. We hope to see you there!
From,
Gary Rindson, ball planner
Next there were 2 sheets of paper, one had the word invitee written on the top and the other was guest. She gave the paper listed invitee to Max and the one labeled guest she kept for herself. Unfolding the letter meant for her she saw the words Lady Sarah Benson. She didn't make any corrections because it was spelled correctly. Next was the time and date that the ball would take place. Tomorrow at 5:00.
Turning to Max she said, "What do we do with these?"
"Nothing unless they spelled your name wrong or didn't give you the correct title. Then you bring it to the front desk so they can fix it for you." Max explained.
"Oh, well mine is fine. What about you?"
"Same here. Max said.
Max's phone began to ring. He looked down at the caller ID and said to Sarah, "Hang on, I have to take this. I will probably be a while, don't wait for me."
"Ok, bye!" Sarah said as she watched Max walk out the door.
She put the letter on the nightstand next to her and flipped on a movie to watch.
