Petrified in front of the door, Day no longer knew how to reason correctly. He had been foolish to believe for one moment that his father and uncle would be alone for once. Their protectors were in the same room as them, he could hear them, and it made him want to turn back. The young god did not feel fit to face their piercing, analyzing, intrigued gazes. He still felt like he was a beast. Huffing, Day placed his fingers in the small recessed handles and pulled the two panels of the door apart. The room suddenly fell silent and a multitude of eyes turned to him. Some of his father's and uncle's protectors were seated around a large table, others were near the windows but not the slightest trace of his blood relatives.
"Hello...Where are they?" he asked as he looked around the room.
"Who exactly are you looking for, Day-sama?" Moain's father asked him in turn, leaning against the dial of an open window.
"My father and my uncle."
"Here's a surprise!" exclaimed Foud's father after failing to spit out his tea.
"Where are they?"
"Why are you looking for them? Suddenly, like that, you decide to stop ignoring them Day-sama."
"Okay, I'll keep looking for them on my own."
"Tell us why."
"I'm not talking to you."
The blond was about to leave the room when he heard the back door open. The obscure presence he felt behind his back, that sudden change of atmosphere, he didn't have to look back to know who was behind his back.
"They asked you something I think," his father snapped as he sat down in his place around the table.
"I answered."
"And what an answer, that is heartbreaking."
"Come and sit down since you want to talk to us, you'll be more comfortable," his uncle invited, pointing to the end of the table.
The youngest hesitated a moment before walking towards the table, taking a seat on the zaisu at the end of the table before being served a cup of tea. The cakes filled with strawberry coulis looked appetizing, he couldn't help but grab one and eat it.
"We're listening to you," his father snapped back, leaning against the armrest of his seat.
"I do not know where to start."
"Usually we start at the beginning. What do you want to talk about?"
"What's in the forbidden room that is constantly locked and forbidden?"
The question bothered his elders, Day saw him by their expression.
"Why do you want to know? You didn't have to go in there, even if it was to find that dirty nosy that you persist in defending!" the Lord scolded, making his face twitch with its suddenness.
"He's innocent!"
"Sorry, is he innocent?" queried Minndt's father."He let my son get tortured in his basement and even though he didn't know it, he still took a long time to react!"
"Is he to blame while he was terrified?"
"He wasn't to kidnap him! Why are you defending him like this?"
"Because he is also a victim of the Order!"
"And so? Because someone is the victim of the shenanigans of the Order, everything they have done or said is granted amnesty?"
"No, but…"
"But what, why his case is different?"
"Your son defends him too."
The tension in the room increased, the god of spirit and feelings glaring at Day before rubbing his eyes. Nyx's father patted his back before speaking.
"Please Day-sama, come to what you want to talk about," he said calmly but with a slight bitterness.
"I would like to speak with my father and my uncle."
"Maybe but they will stay," retorted the Lord.
"Yes, but they can go out too."
"They stay."
"They go out."
"Tell us what you want to talk about," Day's uncle asked to get the discussion back on track.
"What is it that is so bad that you decide to come and see us when, until then, you have done everything to ignore us?"
"My brother, don't provoke him unnecessarily."
"Why is he going to run away again?"
"I don't miss envy, liars! You lie all the time!" Day cried, clenching his fists.
The blond realized his words when he heard no answer, all staring at him in dread. There was definitely something they weren't saying, now he knew it without a doubt.
"Whose medallion is in the back room of the library?"
"Have you been there?"
"With Foud and Lou. Why are you looking for them when they're gone? They must have had a reason to leave. Persecuting the Duke won't make him say what he doesn't know."
"You know nothing."
"Therein lies the problem."
"There is all you need to know. Nothing at all."
"Who are you to decide?"
"Your father."
"So who?"
"Boldness is in the family," Nyx's father remarked."Day-sama, there are things you'd better ignore. You're still young."
"I know that, that's why you don't take me seriously and talk to me like a child."
"I don't, I…"
"I'm not a child and I want to know who it belongs to and I want to know why you are looking for them too."
"But what would that do for you?"
"You know as well as I do that the Order has something to do with it. I want to know who the person is who looked at us when we were in this room."
"What are you talking about? Who did you see?"
This time it was Day's turn to be shocked at their astonishment.
"There was someone in the room, it looked like a ghost. You could see right through," he explained, shrugging. an eyebrow.
"You must have been hallucinating, there is no one in this usually closed room."
"There was someone!"
"Is that all you came to talk to us about?"
"Why do not you answer me?!"
"I told you, the less you know the better. Stop digging into other people's things, I won't say it twice. If you keep going, you'll all end up causing disaster."
"Answer me and we'll drop the case."
"Who do you think you can be kidding, kid?" his father taunted, sitting up in his zaisu."I'm telling you one last time, you stop snooping around before things turn badly for you and us. Now go."
Day nodded and sat firmly in his seat, holding his gaze,
"I won't take orders from someone who abandoned me and didn't try to apologize," the youngster declared categorically,
"You are leaving."
"From the room or the monastery?"
"I don't know, are you so stupid to go back and live a life like any other, cheeky little idiot?"
"Idiocy is in the family then."
"You wanted them out, well, get out."
"We go out?" Foud's father asked as if he had misheard.
"Yes, you are going out."
The protectors looked at each other before exiting the room one by one, leaving the father, uncle and son in the same room.
"You have what you want. Say what you want," the Lord summoned between squeaks. teeth.
"Know who it belongs to and which is the blood on the sword that accompanies the medallion. We have seen a ghost, Minndt has seen the stairs leading to the second."
"The monastery is haunted, yes."
"Who was it?"
"If you can't give me a physical description, I couldn't tell you who."
"And the medallion?"
"The objects in the back of the bookcase belong to those who came before you, just like those in the room you didn't have to set foot in."
"And the Order?"
"What the Order?"
"How could he infiltrate the monastery so easily and send people to kill me? They were coming to finish with the duke too and they could have killed more than that."
"That we don't know."
"Really?"
"I can promise you, we don't know how they did it. There must be a mole but will find out if it's in the monastery or the officers' quarters. Either way, someone helped them and it is possible that your dear friend Duke Monty had something to do with it."
"He's afraid of it!"
"What he wants is his family. Once you help him he will turn on you. That's what they do."
"Who exactly are they?"
"The vampires too nice like them. They play the sensitive, the altruistic then behind they make fun of you. Rather than helping Nyx and his brother to find their uncles, rather ask yourself why they disappeared."
"You know."
The Lord and his brother were silent, doing widen the overwhelming victory of Day. Feeling that he was holding the missing piece he needed to solve the puzzle, the youngest continued to insist.
"What has happened in 1910?"
"They disappeared after going to Monty's manor in Inverness. They didn't give any more news, nobody saw them again and very soon we were returned the medallion and this sword. The blood on it is theirs and her. belongs to the elder uncle. Shortly after, we received the cloak they were wearing full of blood which, again, is theirs."
"Nyx and his brother are probably looking for the dead, as are we," added Day's uncle with a wistful sigh. "But some still believe they're still alive."
"Their brother?"
"And all the others. We have had disappearances, this is not the first, but it is the only one for which objects have been returned to us," confessed the Lord."Just like you, we want to find them but at the same time, if they are dead, you have no idea of the consequence of that revelation. If they are dead, knowing who the ghost is will be your least concern."
"The Order is playing with that…"
"Of what?"
"This is the weapon that makes the Order so powerful and terrifying. The Order uses the distress and needs of response from their victims. It's not the people they kidnap who are their targets, they are the ones that the Order leaves behind. We are the main target of this organization, they have no problem with the world."
"If what you say is true…"
"There is not just a mole in the monastery and they know what we are doing…"
"We take the first floor!"
"I will warn the others!"
The father and son suddenly got up from the table and stormed out of the room, followed closely by the uncle who motioned for the protectors to follow them. Day separated from them at the first crossroads and headed for the room. training, praying that they are all safe there.
