Day cursed the mind-boggling number of hallways and crossroads there was in this monastery. Turning left, right, avoiding the servants or the intrigued guards, he didn't notice the half-smiles of some. Yet he should have. It would have saved him from having to flee from the guards who started chasing him when the message reached them: their schemes were in the light.
"Stay here, you nosy little kid!" one of the false guards yelled as he tried to pass him and push him against the wall.
"Nyx!"
"But stop calling him, stop running, you won't escape us! You are a poor kid lost and rejected by all!"
"And you stupid idiots! Leave me, you should be running in front of me!"
"Do you think you can do something? Your father is not here, minus! Unworthy! You have everything and you reject everything! You have the world at your mercy and you reject it!"
"I am not rejecting the world!"
"If you don't want it, give it to people who will know how to take care of it!" a second false guard grew angry when he came to his right, trapping him between himself and his sidekick.
"The Order will know how to manage the world, this monastery and the inhabitants of this fortress city perfectly well. You just have to come to follow us!"
"That's it yes, go see elsewhere if I am there!"
The young god watched them before attacking them with his magic before stopping dead, using their bewilderment to turn around and go down a hallway. The detour was significant but the corridor was deserted, he could hurry without the slightest fear! Day stopped looking around him, focused on the crossroad.
"He's there!"
"Let's catch him!"
The voices behind him grew louder and louder, but he made his way through the last crossroads, running breathlessly down the hallway of the training halls. The larger one was at the end and when he saw the door he knew he was almost there.
"You stupid dirty kid, come back!"
"You will never escape the Order!"
Day ignored their threats as best he could and dodged the knives thrown at him, making them drift with his magic before reaching the door. Neither one nor two, he opened the door and closed it immediately behind him, pulling the latch down before stepping back.
"Day? Are you all right ?!" Nyx panicked, holding him back when he nearly fell backwards.
"They are there!"
"What are you talking about?"
"The moles! There are several, they pretend to be guards to know everything we are doing! We're their target, that's what the disappearances in 1910!"
"I beg your pardon?!" Orthon reacts immediately before a knock on the door is heard.
The false guards were knocking on the door, there they were. The other gods in the room threw their jō to their ground and picked up their favourite weapon, ready to kill the first who were unlucky enough to make it into the room.
"You should get out, Day-sama, we just want you to come with us," one of the false guards warned in a deceptively kind tone.
"Never!"
"You should never say never. Omegas like you must be obedient to those above them, know this… Take out Day-sama, where each of your friends will pay the price…"
"But if you have too much scared for that, give us the duke," another false guard sly offered, all of his evil intentions audible in his voice.
"Why him?"
"The Order doesn't like traitors… isn't he worried about his brother, doesn't he feel something changing in him?"
Day turned to the Duke, who stepped back near Minndt and Moain, squeezing the tighter jō in his hands. He hadn't noticed until then, but he was paler than usual even though he was a vampire.
"He feels it, doesn't he? The Order knows everything..." chuckled the two vampires behind the door.
"Moain, go ahead please."
"No problem. Hey, moles, it's gardening time!"
"The hour of what?"
"Gardening, assholes!"
Moain brandished his fetish mace and motioned for Day and Nyx to step back before opening the door latch. The two vampires barely had time to open the door when the mass smashed their skulls in one movement while sending them flying for several meters. Neither got up, blood flowing profusely under their cracked skulls, staining the perfectly polished floors.
"It feels good," the god of earth and gravity said with a small smile."The way is clear, we can go."
"But where?!" exclaimed Orthon.
"Hunt the moles, of course!"
"I do not want to kill!"
"Said the man who shot five."
"It was under the influence of emotion!"
"Well there you are in the heat of the moment, you take a sword and you go hunting moles with us!"
"Otherwise we'll be chasing you," Nyx's brother hastened to add."Do you want to die? I can kill you now after tasting that sweet scent exuding from you."
"Moles, I take the option of moles!"
"Fine, that will be for later then."
"Don't come near me, please…"
"Why so?"
"Stop, you're terrifying him," Nyx growled, stamping his foot."Stop bro, now."
"Not fun... They better be many, or I'll hit him."
"Otherwise nothing."
"So, what are we waiting for, the flood?"
"The other gods and Orthon looked at each other before silently coming to an agreement, all exiting the room before taking different paths. Some went left, others right, some turned at the first intersection, others the second. Day and Nyxthemselves found together with Orthon and Minndt every four through the corridors following the cries and screams. But as they passed the wellness area, voices attracted their attention.
"There are here," Minndt said in a low voice, walking towards the door.
"How many?"
"Eight, Day. They're heading back through the hot springs, they think that's a good idea."
"Not for much longer," Nyx growled, unsheathing his double-edged axe."We're going, now. We have the benefit of surprise."
"I agree, Day?"
"Ready."
"Orthon?"
"Ready, I think."
"Be careful with that word with me. We're going, Nyx."
The god of night and death let a malevolent smirk stretch his lips before entering the room, stepping into the small hallway. The other three followed him, throwing a kick. rapid eye in open massage rooms before reaching the open door down the hall. the voices faded of themselves before a burst of laughter heard.
"Pathetic your part Monty!"
the Duke clenched his teeth and went into the outer room where near the hot springs, Order members seemed to be waiting. They were visibly amused and the door suddenly closed behind Day, several other vampires appearing in turn.
"If predictable," said the leader of the vampire group, stepping up to Nyx to provoke him.
"Back off," the god grumbled.
"Your family should have agreed to help us, just like that kid you're with. Finally, being a couple should be said quickly in your case, you are not yet linked. So he's free."
"Don't touch him, little motherfucker."
"Be careful with your words, there are many more of us."
"What do you want before you die?"
"He's threatening the god..."
"Others are coming. What do you want?"
"Those three, and you at the same time."
"Why?"
"We need them and you are a vampire with great values and honour is paramount to you. You're the right kind of person for the Order with your brother, where is he?"
"I would have said in your ass but if he was there you would be begging for help."
The vampire clenched his fists but refrained from punching him, laughing forcibly before snapping his fingers. A swarm of vampires suddenly threw themselves at them, Day staying as close to Nyx as he could before a chain broke. wrapped around his ankle. The blond was suddenly pulled forward, rocking back before being brought out of the brawl.
"Tell them to come with us, they are listening," ordered the leader of the group vampires by kneeling on the ground next to his head.
The man stroking his cheek with his fingertips before pressing his gloved hand to his mouth.
"You don't know what's going on, but when you come you will understand. Come and you will find those you are looking for. We'll let Monty find his family if you tell them to come, okay?"
Day nodded briskly and felt his sword be pulled away from his hand. The vampire glared at him then took his hand out of his mouth.
"They're alive Nyx! Alive!"
The god barely had time to turn around when the vampire grabbed Day by the throat, gazing defiantly at him.
"Come on and your breathing omega is dead," he threatened very seriously, tightening his grip. to show he wasn't playing anymore.
"Let him go, Day is innocent!" Minndt cried before being attacked again, nearly falling into the water."
"Shut your fuck up the beta, I'm talking to the alpha! You decide what, you come with that beta, that traitor of Monty and your omega or do I kill him for good?"
"Don't listen to him Nyx, he's bluffing!"
"Day-sama hold on breath!" cried in turn Orthon.
"Shut up the traitor, the Order will have your skin and that of your son of a bitch brother! Your bastard omega cousin is more cooperative than you in my bed!"
"Motherfucker!"
"The emotion..." Day panted with a small smile.
"What the emotion, what..."
Nyx watched Orthon pass him in a second before pouncing on Day's assailant. His fingers ran through his hair and he squeezed his grip before smashing his forehead against a rock in the hot spring, before starting over. Blood flowed profusely into the water and tinted the water a fine shade of red.
"In a row, against the wall!" Nyx yelled, his voice cracking in the warm air of early July."Faster than that, assholes!"
The last vampires still standing let go of everything they were holding and dropped their knees to the ground, facing a Nyx ready to demolish everything. Their hands joined behind their heads and walked cautiously Day of Orthon, reaching out before placing it on her shoulder.
"Orthon, stop..."
"He has..."
"He is dead."
Those three words echoed in the Duke's mind as he looked at the deceased vampire leader, suddenly noticing the horror of his gesture before stepping back. The door opened at the same time, revealing Day's father and some of his protectors. Minndt's father gazed immediately at the Duke as Nyx's dumbfounded father watched the carnage before turning to the vampires kneeling in front of the wall. A horrifying, inhuman and evil grin appeared on the Lord's face.
"Perfect. The moles are unmasked. Look at the absolute fear of distorting their facial features, they would make them want to be devoured."
