Chapter 3 - Meeting the parents

Class ended and recess came. Bing Wan easily made two new friends, one named Hong An and the other Yun Ran, and went to the cafeteria with them.

"Is that Goddess Hong An and Goddess Yun Ran?"

"Who's that in front? So beautiful!"

"Damn!"

"Looks like the school forum's beauty rankings are going to change again. "

Their group of trio all possessed incredible looks, especially Bing Wan as they garnered much attention while walking to the cafeteria.

Buying their food and going to the seats with larger than normal portions, they sat down and started talking.

"Bing Yan, you're lucky that that guy doesn't come to school often. You should quickly change your seat before he finds out you are sitting there." Yun Ran tried her best to persuade, while looking at her worriedly.

Bing Wan as a natural beauty also had her charms and she had already formed a strong bond with her.

"Exactly. If he comes back and sees you there…I don't want to imagine what will happen next." Hong An added with a slightly fearful expression

Hearing this, Bing Wan was intrigued and asked, "Who is he? Which family did he come from?"

"That's the point. We don't even know. My brother Hong Liang tried to find his background once but nothing came up. Even our Hong Family, a Major family, isn't even able to find out about him. He is both mysterious and powerful, you shouldn't provoke this kind of person. "Hong Liang frowned. A look of worry was painted on her delicate face.

"Mysterious? That's what makes if more fun." Bing Wan softly mumbled to herself ina voice only she could hear, as she curled her lips into a devilish smile and bit down on her apple.

In a gorgeously enormous mansion, the exquisitely designed front door opened, and a youth walked in lazily. His every step screamed of arrogance and charm

His dark brown hair coupled with his mysterious eyes were deadly attractive. The house maids by the side couldn't help but blush upon seeing his gorgeous face as they bowed their bodies and greeted in unison

"Young Master Jie"

He proceeded forward, without a single change in his cold, indifferent expression, and was about to walk up the stairs when a beautiful and youthful looking woman sitting on the sofa called out to him.

"Si Liang. It looks like you are getting more handsome every day. You have really inherited me and your father's good genes. " The woman looked towards Si Liang with a gentle look in her eyes.

Si Liang squinted his eyes as he frowned at her.

"What do you want? " He coldly asked

"Si Liang. Why do you always have to be so cold towards me? You know that that incident was not my fault. I couldn't do anything about it" Lady Jie was inevitably felt a pain in her heart upon hearing his lack of warmth when speaking to her.

Si Liang pursed his lips and remained silent.

"Si Liang, you are already 16 and old enough to marry. We had planned an engagement with the young miss of the Tang family a few years back." Lady Jie paused for a while, before continuing to say, "She returned a few days ago and we're going to be meeting them later."

"Make sure to come"

Hearing this, Si Liang couldn't help but be amused as he his lips rose into a smirk.

"An engagement? Is she...worthy?"

He walked up to his room without a word.

A heavy sigh followed behind.

In the Tang residence.

"Mom, I'm ready! Let's go. "A youthful girl walked out. Her long black hair smoothly ran down her shoulders, and she wore a light pink dress that accentuated her curves. This provided a perfect mixture of alluringness and innocence brought about by her delicate features. The world seemed to light up upon her presence like the moonlight shining in the midst of darkness.

Lady Tang looked at her daughter and was entranced. She couldn't help but feel proud of her daughter's natural attractiveness.

"Truly, the young surpasses the old." Lady Tang muttered to herself.

"Father! "

Father Tang walked towards Bing Wan as he lightly ruffled her hair, his eyes full of warmth and tenderness.

She was his only daughter, and he couldn't help but pamper her.

"Let's go meet your fiancé. Let your father see if he is good enough for my precious daughter. "Father Tang gently said to her before he looked away and regained his noble disposition, proceeding towards the restaurant.

In the restaurant, a youthful lady and a suited man sat on their chairs.

"Has Si Liang decided to not to come?" The regal man asked in a deep voice as he frowned.

"He still hasn't forgotten about it. I don't think he would come. "The lady sighed heavily with a tinge of sadness

That was when Bing Wan and her parents entered.

Upon seeing Bing Wan, Si Liang's supposed fiancé, they couldn't help but be amazed by her dazzling looks.

"Mr. Jie and Lady Jie. " Bing Wan greeted politely with a sweet-sounding voice.

"Good. What an adorable little girl." Lady Jie complimented, feeling that Bing Wan was more pleasing to the eye every second.

"Where's your son?" Father Tang squinted his eyes while asking as he realized that Bing Wan's fiancé wasn't even present.

Even though the engagement was set by the grandfathers of both families a long time ago, however Father Tang especially doted on her daughter and didn't want her to suffer. Since the fiancé didn't want to come, he might as well annul the engagement.

"He is sick and isn't able come for today's dinner" Lady Jie said rather embarrassing. She knew that it was far from the truth but didn't want to be blunt and offend the other family.

Father Tang glanced at her daughter, seeing that she was unperturbed, he toned down his temper for a while and switched to talking business, while the woman were busy talking amongst themselves.

"Mr. Jie, I heard that your business has been doing well rather lately." Father Tang stated with a questioning tone. The Jie family, although powerful in the past, was incomparable to the Tang family. However, there has been a surge of developments in the Jie family the past few years that has left almost the entire business market shocked and dumbfounded. The current Jie family was now on par or even stronger than the Tang family, a far cry from the past.

"We have been developing quite well these past few years." Father Jie indifferently replied, not willing to provide any additional information.

"I heard that your business had some conflict with Yun Lang Corporation recently." Father Tang pressed on.

"We will settle that swiftly. There is no need to worry." Father Jie confidently stated.

Father Tang was rather surprised by this. The Yun Lang Corporation was influential and had roots in many places. He couldn't help but wonder where the Jie family got their confidence from.

After finishing the dishes, they said some perfunctory words before leaving.

"The girl is really nice. If only Si Liang could accept her." Lady Jie sighed despondently, as if she had lost something great, never to be found again.

"Dream on. I'll give you the bed if he actually accepts her." Father Jie made a bet without even thinking.

He knew of this son's character. He had never accepted any girl. Never.

If he was not for his son's handsome face that was sharp and defined, exuding a manly and regal aura, he would have thought that he was gay.

"That sly old fogey actually tried to pry for some inside information for us. What a fox." Father Jie added.

Meanwhile in the car.

"That old man really has tight sealed lips. We talked for so long, yet I haven't pried a single inside information from his mouth "Father Tang muttered under his breath, apparently frustrated.

"His company had developed far too fast this few years. This had already alerted the entire business market. The fact that it could maintain unharmed means that there is a greater force behind the Jie family. An unfathomably powerful force. Who could it possibly be?" Father Tang continued, pondering.

In the end, he was unable to think of a single name, and could only temporarily give up.

"If we ever become in-laws, I will make sure to smack the bird brain of his." Father Tang furrowed his eyebrows in frustration.

Bing Wan ignored the ramblings of her father as she looked out of the window, enjoying the scenery in peace.
