Chapter 2 - The pasts effect on the present.

A gloomy, winter evening took over the light in the atmosphere as a calming sea of stars covered the wash of dark navy above her head, a dusty air was visible in front of her view as she breathes in the bitter coldness of the oxygen surrounding her. Although the darkness is having an early arrival, swarms of figures surround her on the concrete path she takes back to her lonely apartment she owns.

Life was... different, when she returned to her birth place as new people and new buildings had appeared in her view once she got off the long plane ride back to the place that held much deeper meaning to an old friend she had now forgotten as her years in Britain had caused many new memories to sprout out of her mind. Some were positive, some negative... These negative thoughts only reminded her why she left to return to the, better, memories she had here.

*Flashback, 18 years old*

A café in the middle of a crowded street, situated in the perfect city of London, sat a short petite women, around 18 years of age, patiently waiting for someone, keeping her eye out in case he stood her up. Forest green globes scope the area, looking to find the prey she has on her mind. Worry filled her eyes as they wandered as if trying to walk towards their target. Gloved hands kidnapped the warmth emitting from the peppermint flavored hot chocolate that was covered in fluffy white cream, like a forest covered in a soft layer of snow, with bouncy marshmallows comparing themselves in an ocean of a frozen water, slowly melting with the chocolate brown snowflakes joining them, meeting the delicious tasting treat with the exception of the candy cane hanging over the edge of the polished mug that now had the marks of her peach colored lip gloss on it's surface.

As her worries flew around her mind, she hadn't realized that the café entrance had been entered until a deep, soothing voice struck through her ears, she could sense the man had ran here from the minor pants coming from his lungs. Turning her attention to that voice she had fallen in love with, she seen a messy yet suiting head full of blonde hair shining in the sunrise behind them, displaying a beautiful reflection in those caramel eyes that she met in eye contact as her face flushed a strawberry tint and her shocked facial expression changed to a wide smile unable to speak.

"Hey, you okay?..."

*Back to the present*

Oh how she wished it could have stayed that way. That smile altered her life in so many ways that when it turned sinister, fear ran through her body, like electricity charging through her veins. All one petty little action can do to others now scared her as she feared what others would think. Shivers ran down her spine as the memories flung one at her, making it stand out like a sore thumb.

*Flashback, Jason and Amelia's apartment, age 20*

"Come on, love. Just this once, I'll by you ice-cream tomorrow?" a desperate tone fell upon his voice box as she laid on her side, avoiding eye contact with his caramel melted eyes. "Why should I?", green eyes averted from their entranced gaze on the lilac wall to meet his gaze. "Your too shy. Come on, get out of your shell a little!", a gentle smile plastered on his face after a grudging sigh escaped her lips.

The flashing lights blinded them as they walked over to the crowded bar, people surrounded Amelia as her anxiety was starting to get the best of her. A soft pair of lips taken hers into a soft kiss, reassuring her it's fine and she's safe.

"I'm going to go and... take care...of some family business, so I'll be back soon my love", a kiss landed on her head.

"I love you", were the final words said to Amelia that night.

Anxiety got the best of her as the people surrounding her got closer and more packed in groups as the night went on, until someone came up to her with a kind smile and was, surprisingly, sober. Tears like crystal raindrops fell and gained speed as they started to control her breathing, sobs erupting from her lips as warm arms wrapped around her shaking body.

"H-hey, you ok..?", she only clung onto the form holding her as her tears drenched his shirt, a guy she met in college, about 5'10, James let her sob into his shirt. He seen his fiancé walk over, a bit confused, but James explained how she knew him. They both agreed to give her a few drinks to help her relax.

"I'm going to have to go, hun, Ill see you when you get in, ok?", the male redhead stated giving his fiancé a kiss on the cheek before exiting the club, leaving the drunk and sober shadows behind to go to their home.

"Do you want a drink? You look like you deserve it", the taller brunette stated, dragging her along to the packed yet empty side of the bar.

Drink, after drink, after drink... ran around the club with a highly intoxicated Amelia by his side, trying to find the guy she was with when she entered. Bright lights still shone on as figures kept drinking and dancing along to the up beat rhythm of the song playing through the speakers. With no Jason in sight, the decision had to be made, leaving it his responsibility to get the giggly girl to her apartment safely. Once there, he entered the apartment not really taking notice of what it looked like but only noticing the bedroom door as he enters the room, removing her jacket and carefully laying her body onto the cotton bedding, telling her to rest, unaware of the person entering the room. Hiding is what he was doing, patiently waiting until this guy came out of his room.

(trigger warning- yelling, violence, swearing)

"What are you doing to my girlfriend?" he stated, a sinister smirk plastered on his face as he etched closer to the taller blonde until he pinned him in a corner.

"Whoa back off.. I was just putting her to bed", arguing back and forth with Jason until a powerful blow hit his cheek.

"Stay away from my girlfriend.", murder coming from his aura emitting a dangerous feature about him.

"Uh, dude, back off a bit, I didn't sleep with her, for fuck sake I have a fiancé! And I'm gay! G-A-Y!", James finally yelled at him, Jason backed off, enough that the pissed off brunette shoved him off and left to go home. After this encounter he decided to sleep on the couch, it wasn't the most comfortable but he was still angered, still not believing what the man had stated was true.

The sun shone brightly into the lilac room that Amelia awoke in, welcoming in the headache that was pounding in her head. Grumbling, she groggily got up and forced herself out of bed.

The first words spoken to her were harshly presented.

"You slag! You slept with a faggot and you were drunk, so you leave with a stranger then fuck him and tell him to lie about having a fiancé!. His speech faded out as a harsh crack was heard as time slowed down, everything went in slow motion as unbearable pain shot up her from her jaw to her cheek screaming and crying for her to release an inhumane screech. The silver metal scraping across her cheek, making an open wound. Blood dripping out at once. That sound surely released as tears blocked her view and sobs wracked her form, shock taking over her expression. His anger never rested, "Mi-Mi, I thought you loved me and only me, you are my property and I DON'T like to share!"

That was her queue to go, leave, get as far away as possible, and she took it, she ran far, hoping this head start would give her time. Arriving at a door she recognized, panicked knocking had started, leaving the same worried redhead to answer the door in the same panic

(trigger warning over)

A few weeks later, she started hiding with them, James and Lukah made sure she was safe and healthy, a scar however marked the impact of where the punch was aimed, working from home and helping them plan the wedding coming up ahead. Things were looking up yet she still feared that she was on the run and that Jason would find her. This lasted two years, hiding, scared to go outside. About six months after James and Lukah got married she made the biggest decision she had to make,

Stay or go back to America...

*Back to present*

These memories still haunt her dreams at night, her and James stayed in touch just not as much as they used to but, hey it was something to her. Here she was, back in her hometown, ready for a new life.
