Some people slip away from you like silk and flutter away with the wind leaving no gaping wound or pain in your heart they simply came into your life to teach you something about yourself. - Vic
Maya stood on the balcony whose face was tilted upwards towards the moon. Her eyes were closed, and she seemed to soak in the moonlight. The moon made her face glow in the dark. She was delicate, her face vibrant. Her eyes were as blue as the lakes of his homeland. Her hair was flaming, a sizzling red that looked hot to touch and fell, wave after wave, over her bare shoulders.
Alex's heart hammered, three hard, and violent strokes then seemed simply to stop. She wore something floaty and blue, paler, shades paler than her eyes. Diamonds fired at her ears.
He had never in his life seen anything so beautiful, so perfect. So unattainable.
He found it hard to take his eyes off her. As if sensing his stare, she turned and saw Alex standing in the doorway of her balcony, staring at her. No doubt she was shocked it was stamped all over her face, amplified by the jaw she couldn't pick up off the floor.
Alex walked in, shut the door, and with no words he pulled her into his arms and found her lips. He kissed her, pouring his heart and soul into the kiss. The passion, the want, his need for this woman increased a hundred-fold. His mouth, his roving hands, told her everything that she needed to know.
Maya's heart started beating faster. Her palms start to sweat. This time she felt like they had all the time in the world. Alex knew this time she couldn't run away from him. She was lost in his embrace. His tongue was strong, yet urgent, his hands were roaming at will, all over her body. Maya was moaning, not wanting him to stop, wanting to be held in his arms forever.
When they parted, Maya's eyes filled with longing, tinged with regret.
"Did you miss me?" Alex's eyes gleamed with love and longing.
Of all the emotions churning in her, love, shame, guilt, fear, panic. Panic won out. "What are you doing here, Alex? How did you get past the security?"
"I missed you. Did you miss me?"
Maya smiled seductively, "Do you want me to show you?"
His breath caught, held, time ceased to exist. Alex's eyes were fiery, penetrating green orbs. They mirrored all the longing he felt in her beautiful blue eyes. He noticed his brawny arms holding her tight, their bodies rubbing against each other as desire sparked, crackled, then caught fire.
Alex slid his hand up to cup the side of her face. His thumb tracing her full lower lip with the rough pad of his thumb. Her small, pink tongue darted from between small white teeth to trace her lips, grazing his thumb. A hot sensation gripped his loins.
"Maya," he whispered, as his lips head lowered to hers. The touch of his lips left reason behind as they explored each other's mouths. Tasting, nipping, sucking, he ravaged her mouth.
All thought of who she was, who he was, where they were, faded into the distance as they strained against one another. Denial was forgotten as they set their passion free in unrestrained abandonment. Forbidden desire tasted as sweet as any forbidden fruit in the heat of the moment.
Explosions of desire erupted in Maya's lower regions. Hunger raced into her body with the swiftness of a raging fire. Wrapping her arms around him, she felt her breasts throb against the muscles of his chest. His scent enveloped her, transporting her to a place without time or rationality. The chant of unfulfilled longing sang in her veins.
Alex drowned in a sea of sensations. He forgot about why he came to meet Maya; he only knew he had Maya in his arms. Soft, warm, melting into his embrace. Their mutual desire ran rampant. They swept away all inhibitions with a flood of longing so strong it was beyond his reasoning, or his ability to control.
His hands drifted down from her cheeks to cup her full breast, hard with desire, peaked with longing. He picked her up and carried her to the bed. Mindlessly, he lowered her on the bed. Lips never parted as they twisted and turned until they scattered their clothes about as if caught in a violent storm.
And then it did.
Maya closed her eyes, and a squirm escaped her lips as she felt a tearing pain. Her arms flew to his neck, and she hugged him to her as if she thought the pain that he caused her would go away with the comfort that he could provide at that moment.
"Oh, shit!" Alex cursed softly as she realized what just happened.
They were so caught up in a web of passion and he tore into her maidenhead without knowing it was still intact.
"I'm so sorry, my Butterfly." He looked down at her. There were tears rolling down her cheeks. He wiped them with his thumb and then he hugged her to him, comforting her. Then he kissed her lips gently.
"I could stop."
"No… please Alex. Don't stop."
"I can't promise that this won't hurt any more than it already does. But I'll try."
Maya felt him withdraw very gently. He kissed her again, very passionately and yet with so much more gentleness than before.
She felt him again at her entrance and he slowly re-entered her. She felt another tearing pain, but it seemed very gentle compared to the first one.
The warmth of his skin, the weight of him, sent Maya's senses soaring. Eager hands explored every nuance of his back. Her inquisitive fingers examined each muscle. Ecstasy climbed higher with each movement, each thrust. He made her woozy with every touch. Until her mind went blank except for one word, she kept saying in her moans of pleasure - Alex.
She shivered. He caught her mouth and swallowed her screams in his kisses. Then it came, the powerful culmination of the act itself. Breathlessly it captured them in its thrall, rippled along each nerve, each muscle until they quivered with fulfillment.
When it ended, he looked down at her deeply. His lips curved into a crooked smile before his mouth descended towards hers. He laid down and pulled her to him. They laid intertwined, not saying anything. Her head rested comfortably on his shoulders. He had one hand rested on her waist. The other under his head.
When she looked up, she found him staring at her with his crystal blue eyes that seem to drown her every time she peered at them.
"What?"
"I... I love…" he began softly. Maya put a finger up to his lips to stop him.
"Shh! Saying it is so ancient. Show me."
He watched her smiling seductively at him. The only thing running through his mind was how much he desired her again. Her face flushed with the remnants of their lovemaking. He knew the longing he felt reflected in his face. The sexual tension was gripping his body again, even though he just made love. He would never get enough of her. The intensity of their attraction was ready to burst any barrier erected between them with the slightest touch.
"Pleasure is all mine, darling" Alex's mouth descended on hers and saw Maya's face flickering. He backed away and Alex realized it wasn't only Maya but his own face was flickering; his body and the entire scene around him followed suit. Alex could feel himself being pulled up into the air, back and forth as something was fighting to free him. Maya looked angrier, and she turned away with an evil smirk on her beautiful face. The force pulling him won, and it ripped him from his bind to a terrifying roar like nothing he had ever heard before.
Maya whizzed through the air at such speed that all he could see was blurred colors. Alex felt sick to his stomach. He opened his eyes just enough to see a dark figure hurtling after him, reaching out until…
CRASH! Alex landed face-first onto his mattress. He bounced to a seated position gasping for air before finally relaxing to a slow monitored breath. He looked down at his body to see he was drenched in sweat.
The dreams Alex was having were becoming more detailed, more vivid, and he was struggling with the nightmares for the past two months. He woke up more than once at night, drenched in sweat, screaming at the top of his lungs, his heart racing and shaking. Maya's image haunted, tortured, and pursued him through his nightmares. No matter what he did, Maya refused to leave his dreams, heart, and his life. He felt like a fish pulled out of the ocean and dropped onto dry land, confused and frightened.
He laid back onto his pillow, calming himself down, letting his heart gradually slow to a steady pace.
There was a soft knock on his bedroom door.
Alex sat up and wiped his face.
"Morning, Alex," His friend Josh walked in, followed by his girlfriend Sasha, shutting the door behind. "Slept well?"
If only he knew how ridiculous that question was. He simply nodded, refusing to speak.
Joshua Mathews and Alexander King were best friends from Kindergarten. Joshua and Alex have started their own business called King Solutions. They started taking independent projects while doing their Post graduation. Their platform was designed and developed in-house and has undergone many rounds of enhancement to better manage the increasing volume and velocity of data passing through its system and the applications of business analytics for business intelligence purposes. Through this, King Solutions could provide a myriad of technical and business support services such as accounting, merger, acquisition, technical, non-technical and business tools, especially latest digital tools, to cater to its current and future needs.
They are in talks with potential collaborators, banks, and investors to drive their company to greater heights and make a name for themselves.
"Did you even take a bath?" Sasha tried to lighten the mood.
Alex couldn't get over how weird a situation this was especially with Sasha being in his room, but he wasn't about to rock the boat. Slightly embarrassed, he stood up in the middle of the room in brown check pajamas and a t-shirt with a blank facial expression. He looked around and then on his desk, spotted his phone.
Alex focused on the phone, aiming his open hand directly at it. Like a ritual, his hands automatically searched for a piece of news and tried to focus on it, 'Mr. Jay Simon and his wife were spotted at a fundraising event for a Cancer Institute'. He browsed the pictures of a happy couple posing for pictures.
BOOM
The mobile phone exploded, pieces firing across the room, crashed into pieces. He looked at his friend Josh and Sasha, who hadn't so much as flinched but looked far from impressed.
Alex sat on one of the low-back easy chairs. He held his head in his hands, and his shoulders shook from the intensity of the crying. Deep sobs were coming from the very core of the man. Uncertain of what to do, Joshua walked over and put his hand on his shoulder. Instant despair coursed through his body like a bolt of lightning, causing him to gasp.
"Please leave," Alex wiped his hands over his face and looking up.
"I wish I could heal your broken heart, Alex." Sasha came around and sat on the floor in front of Rian. She reached out and took his hand.
"We didn't mean to startle you, and we don't mean to pry. Talking to someone might help." Sasha looked up at Alex with her large black eyes, her face full of concern. Alex looked up for a second and then back to the floor in front of him.
"It hurts so much." There was a beat of silence. "I loved her with all my heart. I dreamed about our future. I wanted to marry, buy a house, have kids, and grow old together."
Joshua and Sasha knew better than to answer him. They stayed silent and let Alex speak.
Alex's face screwed up in pain. The hurting was intense. He swallowed hard and looked into Sasha's eyes. "She left me."
There was a moment of silence.
"I lost her and there was nothing I could do about it. How could I love someone so much to be hurt this way? It's like someone reached inside me and wretched a hunk of my heart and stomach out. Like right here." He spread the palm of his hand over his chest. "I thought I'm the happiest man in the universe. Little did I know there was an hourglass with my name on it… and the sand was rapidly running out."
