Synopsis
The Child Experiment and Research Facilities, C.E.A.R.F., is a secret U.S.A. government project that creates children raised as weapons. The newest facility, X, was given instructions to alter the D.N.A. in a new way. Block out emotions and make her a skilled killer. Due to the change in the D.N.A., it took a few times for the fetus to make it through the incubation period until the fifth attempt and the first Alyssa was born. Is it safe to create such a child, to train her in every form of fighting and weapons? Is it safe for the child? Yes, unless she isn't perfect. Who is the one in danger? Alyssa or everyone else?

Chapter 1 - Prologue

Professor Adam, a tall young man with short brown hair and baby blue eyes, paced around the glass tube in the center of the room as moonlight shines through the windows. After the third time around the tube, he stops in front of the screen attached to the front of the tube. Adam taps a few buttons on the screen before looking into the tube. Floating in the middle of the tube is a baby girl her eyes closed and what little black hair she has is flowing in the liquid she is in.

Professor Adam turns to his assistant sitting at the desk, "Justin prepare to send a report to HQ."

Justin turns in his desk chair to face the computer and brings up an email, "Yes sir Professor, what shall it say."

Adam faces the girl in the tube, "Progress report date August 4th, 2338. Neonate 105-X subject name Alyssa. It appears that the fifth try with the Alyssa DNA test is a success. The subject has survived the nine-month incubation period. We are bringing in doctors and preparing her arrival for tomorrow around 1300 CST. We will continue with monthly reports on 105-X's progress as she ages." With a nod of Adam's head, Justin sent the email. "Justin it's late you should head home."

"Adam since I'm no longer on the clock mind if I ask a question?" Justin asks as he stands and walks over to Adam and the tube.

"I believe you just did," Adam looks to Justin's annoyed face and with a chuckle continues, "Yes, you can ask whatever you want." Due to the long hours together the men have become quite close. The two consider each other friends.

"Are you ready to be a father?" Justin asks with slight concern in his voice.

"The nursery has been set up down the hall from my room since the first test of the Alyssa DNA. And with the fact, this Alyssa made it to month eight every preparation needed has been set up. So yes I would say everything is ready for her arrival."

Justin lets out a sigh, "Adam you know that's not what I meant. She is your DNA, your blood daughter. You are going to be raising this girl from birth to eighteen. Are you ready for that?"

"So were the last four Alyssas. Being the blood father to this child means nothing and even if it did to me it wouldn't to her. If everything goes according to plan this child will not be able to access her human emotions. She will be an emotionless weapon of war to the highest bidding army or government. And if she is not she will be erased. You know that I can't connect with this child."

"I know but just because she won't be able to connect to you doesn't mean you can control your emotions. I know you've always wanted to have a family. So you might not be able to stop yourself from wanting to father this girl. I just want to know if you can handle this and that I will always be here for you." Justin lays his hand of Adam's shoulder.

"If I couldn't handle this I wouldn't have taken this job in the first place. I'm a scientist after all. Anyway, don't you have a girlfriend to get home to?" Adam shrugs his assistant off and starts walking out of the room.

Justin fallows Adam out the door and towards the elevators, "Nah, she broke up with me a few weeks ago for spending to much time at work. Honestly she probably just thought I was cheating on her because none of us are allowed to speak of what we do outside of C.E.A.R.F."

"Just say Child Experiment and Research Facility. But whatever go home and get some sleep we have a big day tomorrow."

With that, the men went their sperate ways. Justin went down the elevator to leave out the front door to head to his house a few miles down the road. Adam went upstairs to his room in the facility.
