Chapter 4 - 3

I shift in bed as I wake up and feel that something is off; slowly opening my eyes, I see my dad's sheets. I'm swift to sit up and look for my father in fear something has happened, but his voice calls out from his desk, "It's alright, Alyssa. It's Saturday. We are the only ones here. You fell asleep crying last night, and as it was Friday, I saw no point in waking you."

"But the cameras. They will see I never left, meaning a death sentence for both of us." Adam gets up from his desk chair and comes to sit next to me on the bed, running his hands through my hair.

"As I said, it's alright. I've already edited the footage from last night and this morning. It'll look like you went to your room last night and came back this morning like every Friday and Saturday." I nod.

This has been my life living in fear that my next move will kill me andather. I was not supposed to have emotions, and I didn't at first, but that part of my DNA was not as stable as they thought. At the young age of three, I was alone with my father and smiled. He went into a panic as he had already bonded with me.

My father had to explain to a toddler just how much danger she was in. We worked to hide the truth from everyone else. Not even my father's best friend and assistant, Justin, knows the truth as he would also have his life on the line if anyone found out.

My father and I wish every night to leave this horrid lab I've called home, but it's never going to be anything more than a dream. I'm property of the government, not a person,, not my father's child. I'm nothing more than a weapon in training to anyone besides my father.

A hand is waved in front of my face, "Alyssa? Are you, alright sweetheart?"

"Ah, yes, sorry, I was just thinking." My father ruffles my hair.

"Oh, how dangerous? I'm sure nothing good will come from that." I push him laughing.

"You're so mean, daddy. It's Saturday. Let me have my emotions." He chuckles and kisses my forehead.

"Sorry sweetie but I need to take any chance I can to tease you. I am your father after all. So what shall we do today?" I flop back onto the bed.

"Nothing. All the bulling at school and training is tiring. I mean seriously how much psychological tormant does the president plan on throwing my way. I'm worried he's suspius of us. I mean why else would he start all of this recently."

"Let's hope not but you are doing remarkably well with every trial. I'm hardly messing with the systoms now. Every clean brain scan is pretty much all you meaning our own personal training is paying off."

"I would hope so we've only been working on it for twelve or so years." My father raises an eyebrow.

"Or so? What happened to that photographic memory or yours."

"Ugh, daddy at least let me play dumb. It's so tiring being little miss perfect."

"Of course sweetie. Then if you want to 'play dumb' would you like to play some of the video games I have on my computer?" I bolt up.

"Video game?" My father nods and gesture toward to his computer. I giggle and jump onto my father giving him a hug, "Thank you daddy."
