Chereads / The Girl In Blue / Chapter 6 - Dead To Me

Chapter 6 - Dead To Me

Tommy sat in his room all alone for the rest of the week. He cut off contact with everyone, even Rachel and Manny. He needed some time to cope with these newfound feelings. As he watched the pointless cartoons on his Tv, he stopped for a minute to think.

"What should I do?" He asks himself. Tommy gets up from his bed and walks over to his desk. His desk was filled with a bunch of stationery things such as containers, pens, pencils, books, etc. He was always into art, but he stopped enjoying it after a while. Tommy stared down at a blue box he had sitting on the floor. He bent down to pick it up, placing the random box on his desk wondering what he could do with it. Tommy thought about it for a good few minutes, but then finally had his lightbulb flash in his brain. He had a real idea.

Tommy ripped out a piece of paper from one of his art books, he picked up his pencil and began to draw. He drew out some characters, the characters being Rachel, Manny, and himself. Tommy was always so creative, he knew what he was doing when it came to art. He spent hours, making sure every little detail was on point. It was dark out by the time he had finished the drawing. He folded up the piece of paper into 4's. Making it easy and cute to open up. He placed it into the box, smiling at what he had created.

"Note" He whispered to himself as he ripped out 2 more pieces of paper just in case he made a mistake. Tommy was never good at expressing his feelings or writing about anything in general so this was a challenge for him but he was willing to accept it as this was for a good reason and it had a good purpose. He noticed how Rachel and Manny tried to call him, but all attempts were failed. He knew they were worried about him, but he didn't want to care even though he did. Tommy never wanted to hurt anyone as he had such a pure and innocent soul, but this time he knew what was best for him. Tommy never really knew what was best for him as his entire existence was questionable. He wrote a letter, a note, or whatever you want to call it. He folded it into 6's, making it harder to open. He was proud of himself though, even if he didn't write much.

"Tommy come downstairs" He hears from his bedroom. His mother always looked out for Tommy, even when he believed nobody looked out for him. He got up from his chair and opened his bedroom door, closing it behind him as he got ready to walk down the stairs. His mom was sitting on the couch with her phone out.

"Rachel's on the phone" Tommy sighed.

"I don't wanna speak to her" Tommy responded as he walked back upstairs to his bedroom. It broke his heart to say but he needed time for himself for once, to process and to deal with his thoughts. He slammed the door and locked it. He took a deep breath and jumped into his bed, getting under his blankets. Tommy limited his everything, meals, sleeping schedules, everything was small. He tried to be happy and remain positive but it wasn't working anymore. Nothing was working, not even the years he spent going to therapy and taking medications. He was falling back to his old depressive ways. Tommy never talked about himself to others, he was a closed book and never liked to give details about himself unless he was asked too. The thing was though that nobody ever asked. He laid on his bed, looking up at the ceiling thinking way too much about everything, how he was used just for attention, how nobody seemed to really care about him, and especially how nobody ever even asked about him until he met Rachel. She was the only girl to make him feel okay, but she couldn't help him. He couldn't help himself when it came to her. He knew he could never have her, not even if he begged on his knees. She would never take him. That broke his heart, she was one of his only sources of happiness and he saw himself push her away. It sounds selfish, to take away something so "precious" for something you can't have. But why live your life when you know you can't be happy.
