It was the morning after the night of her life. It was 10 am and Rachel was exhausted. She just laid on his bed, playing with his hair softly as he still stayed fast asleep.
"You wanna start the day yet?" She asked him as he opened his eyes. He shook his head with a smile. Rachel chuckled and kissed his cheek. His face was so warm but in a nice way. He sat upright and looked her in the eye.
"You're so beautiful" he whispered as he leaned in for a kiss. She smiled and kissed him back softly. Rachel thanked him for the compliment and got up from his bed, putting on her leggings she wore hours ago.
"You're gonna wear my shirt?" He asks with a smile.
"Yes," She said. He smiled and got up to hug her, he tightly squeezed her leaving her no room to breathe, but then he let go and laughed. Everything he did make her smile, he just knew exactly what to do. Rachel brushed the knots out of her hair as Manny looked through his closet thinking about what to wear for the day.
"Wear that," Rachel said as she watched him go through his closet, pointing out a specific shirt.
"Special occasions only miss," he said with a chuckle as he continued to go through his closet ignoring her request. She rolled her eyes with a smile. They both finished getting ready and went downstairs.
"Where's your sister?" Rachel asked Manny.
"Playdate probably," He said with a smile as they sat down at the table.
"So Rachel. Tonight we are going out for dinner and I was wondering if you and your mom would like to join us?" Rachel smiled. She wanted to go, it would probably be a lot of fun
"I'll ask her." She said with a smile. Rachel pulled out her phone and texted her mom.
"Hey, mom. I was wondering if you wanted to go to dinner with Lisa and Manny's sister tonight?" Her fingers moved rapidly.
"Yeah sure. Tell her at 8:30 pm if that's fine" Rachel sighed.
"My mom said yes but she wants to know if 8:30 pm is okay?" Rachel asked. Lisa smiled.
"Yeah sure," Lisa said, pouring coffee into her mug.
"She said yeah" Rachel put her phone back into her pocket. They said their goodbyes and Rachel and Manny headed to Rachel's house. Rachel was anxious of what her mom would say to her, but she held back from trying to stay anxious.
"Last night was fun," Manny said as he walked next to her.
He held her hand, walking slowly. They made it to her house and Rachel took a few deep breaths.
"You can do this baby" He smiled and kissed her cheek lovingly. She opened the door to her house and slowly walked in, looking around for her mother to start yelling. There was nobody. Rachel shrugged her shoulders with a smile and just went upstairs to her bedroom. She jumped into her bed and just lay there for a second, staring up at the ceiling. Rachel chose a nice outfit to wear for the dinner which was a nice black short dress with a lace bottom and a pair of black heels. She didn't want to get dressed yet because it was just the early afternoon. Rachel mentally prepared herself for the screaming of the life she was going to receive later in the evening. For the rest of the night, Rachel and Manny talked and watched Netflix as Rachel awaited 7:00 pm to roll around.
"RACHEL MARIE GARCIA GET DOWN HERE NOW!" Rachel sighed and said a little prayer. She could feel the rage her mother was expressing.
"Good luck Babe" Manny hugged her tightly as she went downstairs. She approached her mother and sat down beside her.
"Why didn't you text me earlier! I was worried about you!" Andrea said with anger. Her face was as red as a tomato.
"I'm sorry. My phone died and Emma couldn't find her charger. I didn't think I was sleeping over!" Rachel tried not to get a tone, but that didn't last long.
"Manny has a phone! You had other options." Andrea was not giving in. Rachel believed her mom knew she was lying, but she couldn't have the guts to tell her mom that she was at a party..drinking and smoking.
"I'M SORRY OKAY!" Rachel yelled back.
"Grounded. 2 weeks no phone!" Andrea said as she put her hand out for Rachel's phone. Rachel rolled her eyes and handed her the phone.
"We are eating at Applebee's okay? Be downstairs at 8:00 pm" Andrea was all of a sudden calm. Rachel stormed upstairs..stomping her feet upon every step. She opened the door and slammed it behind her.
"She took my phone. 2 weeks" She sat down on her bed and ranted about how angry she was"
"I'm sorry baby," Manny said with his arms wrapped around her warm body. She was red.
"Are you ready to get ready?" Manny said in a chuckle. Rachel smiled and unwrapped herself from her blankets, walking to her closet.
"I know what I'm wearing," Rachel said as she looked through her closet, trying to find that one specific outfit from earlier. Manny smiled and changed into his black and white suit. She finally found her dress and quickly changed into it, asking Manny to zipper it.
"You look stunning," Manny said as he watched her curl her luscious brown hair. She smiled at her through her lighted mirror.
"Thank you, babe. You look so handsome" He smiled and grabbed her waist. They were the same height for once. Once she finished doing her hair, she put on her fiery red lipstick. They took a few pictures for themselves and for Instagram and before they headed downstairs, Manny grabbed her arm.
"By the way, you are going to be meeting my father and so am I," He said as he took a heavy breath. Rachel's jaws dropped.
"Oh my gosh, Manny. I am honored. We will do this together" She looked at her ring and looked at Manny's. They matched in and out.
"Let's do this," He says as he grabbed her right hand and headed down the carpeted stairs. Andrea smiled at them and took out her phone.
"Smile," She said as she snapped a couple of photos of them smiling and doing cute poses. After about 7 photos, Rachel, Andrea, and Manny left the house and headed out to the car.
"I miss my phone" Rachel said with a slight frown. Andrea rolled her eyes.
"If you're good maybe I'll think about giving it to you next week," Andrea said as she started up the car. Manny took cute photos of Rachel and posted them on Snapchat for everyone to see. Once they arrived at the restaurant, Manny's nerves were over the roof. He was terrified.
"Babe...It's gonna be okay" She rubbed his back and kissed his cheek all as they got out of the car. Andrea walked ahead of them, wearing a floral dress with white high heels. They held hands the whole time.
"Your sister gonna be there?" Rachel asked.
"Yes," Manny said with a chuckle in his voice. They entered the restaurant and walked towards the table. Manny took a deep breath and sat down next to Rachel. Lisa, Lili and Manny's father were nowhere to be found. They had a huge booth all for themselves. Suddenly, Rachel sees Lili run up to her.
"Hi, Rachel!!" She yells with a smile. Rachel got up and hugged her. Manny followed and did the same. They stood right next to each other. They see Lisa and a large man, taller than Lisa and Rachel combined walking beside her.
"Hello," The man said as he approached them. Manny stood there awkwardly, waiting for his dad to say something.
"Son?" The man hugged Manny and looked at Rachel with wide eyes.
"And who are you?" The man says.
"Rachel, your son's girlfriend," Rachel said as she put her hand out for him to shake it. He politely shook her hand with a smile. They all sat down and ordered drinks, all talking about their lives and stuff. Everyone exchanged numbers as they ate. Lili noticed the rings on Rachel and Manny's fingers.
"I love your rings," Lili says with a bright smile.
"Thanks, Lili," They both said at the same time.
"So where did you guys meet?" Lonny, his dad asked as he drank his light beer.
"School. We've known each other for years but we've never talked" Rachel said with a smile as she salted her unsalted French Fries.
" Well, what sparked your relationship then?" Lisa asked as she laughed at Jokes Lonny had made.
"A game of Truth or Dare I guess," Rachel said as she put a french fry in her mouth. They chuckled and found a lot of other things to ask.
"Hey, Manny can I talk to you?" Lonny asked as he looked Manny straight in the eyes. Manny nodded his head and got up from the booth, following his dad. Rachel was curious as to why his dad wanted to talk to him all of a sudden.
"How has everything been?" Lonny asked him. Rachel could hear them but barely.
"Great, and you?" The conversation just kind of flowed from there. Rachel liked seeing Manny excited about something, it gave her a different kind of joy.
Rachel continued to eat her food, watching Lili play around with her empty apple juice cup. Manny and Lonny soon came walking back to the table, Manny looked a bit pale. As if something went wrong. They split the bill and headed out.
"Well it was a pleasure meeting you," Rachel said as she shook Lonny's hand again. He smiled at her.
"I love you son" Lonny hugged Manny and entered the car. They split paths. Rachel and Manny entered the car and Manny was broken. He laid his head on her shoulder and whispered into her ear the whole car ride to Rachel's house. They got home and walked up the stairs. Rachel threw her heels off and tossed them across the room, creating a loud bang. Manny took off his dress shoes and tossed them beside her, also creating a loud bang. He was upset, it was very noticeable.
"What happened?" She asked him as she brushed her fingers against his cheek.
"He told me how he had a court trial coming up and that he would most likely be sent to jail. I believe that was my last conversation with him" Manny said with tears accumulating in his eyes.
"I'm so sorry babe" She snuggled up next to him and wrapped her arms around him for comfort. They fell asleep hand in hand, arm in arm.
