He picked one of them and gulped the fluid as he slightly pushed his head backward revealing his adam apple and sexy collarbone more clearly. He was perfect. His wide shoulders. Well built muscular body. Kiara was sure he has six-pack abs under his jersey. His features were sharp and his fair skin color made it seem as if he is whitewashed. Kiara wasn't able to take her eyes off him.
When Aditya noticed her gaze he turned his head and looked at her. An involuntary smile appeared on Kiara's lips and Aditya smiled back at her, before putting the water bottle on the bench and returned to play.
"Did he just smile at me?! Kiara thought in her mind. the shock was written all over her face!
Both of them were dumbstruck.
Kiara because Aditya smiled back at her.
And Aditya, because he regretted it. He didn't want to smile at her. But when it came to Kiara everything just happened involuntarily.
Both of their minds were in mess. As Aditya turned, Kiara heard screams behind her, and she turned her head to take a look.
Those were Aditya's fangirl. They started chatting and screaming in excitement...
"Did u see? He just smiled! Oh my god!! This is the first time I saw him smiling!! " one of them exclaimed.
"And it seems, probably, it will be the last time!!!" The other girl said.
"Maybe he smiled at us because he knows we are his fangirls and we were cheering for him, and this will be the last time!"
Said the other girl.
"Yes, maybe you are right." They sighed.
"He smiled at you." A calm voice was heard beside her. Kiara turned to look at Vaani who just said those words with such sincere eyes.
When Kiara heard her, a bitter laugh escaped from her lips. Kiara turned her head to avoid Vaani's gaze and said emotionlessly,
"He smiled at them."
"You know that's not true, don't you? I'm sure he thinks of them as annoying creatures." Vaani frowned at Kiara"
"Why would he smile at me? After what happened between us..., In fact, even if he hates those group of girls he must probably hate me even more than them." Kiara expressed her feelings to her only friend.
"What the hell was your mistake. You did nothing! Where does your IQ of 190 go when it comes to your relationship with Aditya?" Vaani argued and frowned at Kiara.
"Even if I did nothing, there's still a huge wall of misunderstanding between us! Maybe, the base is so weak that the wall will shatter even if I throw a weak punch at it! Yet the wall is so strong I can't even dare to touch! I'll never be able to tell him everything. Or should I say, He will never be willing to listen to my explanation? Vaani, Let's just leave this topic be." Kiara's face was calm but the storm in her hazel eyes couldn't go unnoticed.
Vaani looked into Kiara's eyes. She could see the contracting and dilating of the pupils in Kiara's beautiful hazel eyes that were full of emotions. Fear, anger, impatience, regret, every emotion in her eyes was clearly visible.
Vaani knew this topic was always sensitive for Kiara, so she stopped and decided that it would be better not to bring it up again.
After some time, the match was over and everyone returned to their respective classes or home.
As usual, Vaani's father sent a ride for Vaani, and she left with the chauffeur.
Kiara sent Vaani and went to the library for self-study.
She felt terrible. She felt really bad for herself! For them. For their relation! Why does it have to be like this? They were doing great before.
From afar it looked as if she was extremely focused on her book. But, in reality, Kiara was looking at her book with an empty gaze, and her mind was flooding with negative and self-blaming thoughts.
"It was all my fault" Kiara muttered.
Some memories from the past flashed in her mind.
She sat in a daze as she kept thinking about it.
Meanwhile, Aditya was feeling worst.
When the match was over, Aditya dashed to the changing room slamming the door behind him, and changed his clothes. He took his bag and picked the car keys from his locker and headed home.
"Why the hell did I smiled at her.
Aditya f*cking Kashyap... Can't you control yourself at times like this...
Aren't you the cold prince of the university... Ugh!!!...
You are not the one she loves... She is faking it... Because she is guilty... You can't melt like that... Just looking at her smiling beautiful face!!!.."
Aditya was screaming in his mind. He was extremely frustrated.
On the way back home, he couldn't concentrate on the road due to the utter chaos in his mind. He groaned angrily and stopped the car on the side of the road and turned off the engine. Everything turned suffocatingly silent.
He rested his head on the steering wheel while thinking about that particular person with whom he had his only romantic encounter.
"Kiara Parihaar...."
"I wish I wouldn't have met you.
I wish I wouldn't have seen you.
I wish I never came back to India. Then I wouldn't have seen you, neither met you nor fell for you to the point where I can't back off, even if I try."
Memories of the past hovered in his mind.
Both Kiara and Aditya were living in the nostalgia of their beautiful memories.
