The sun slowly rose into the sky and the sky was free from clouds, signaling good weather.
Arthur and his troops gallop through the road. Under the warm sunlight, they hastily made their way through the road with the distinct sound of the horses' hooves hammering the ground.
Two horse carriages, one in front with the other behind, moved slowly on the same roads. The four horses which dragged the carriage along had already indicated that this was a super luxurious carriage.
Arthur and his group startled them as their group suddenly emerged from behind. They started attacking them. They began firing some dangerous magic spell.
"Damn it! Who are these people? They are attacking us without even asking if we are friends or foes." Arthur shouted angrily as he dodged the incoming spells.
"They have elemental mages with them. Spread out and target the horses!" Richard gave out instructions to the soldiers. The soldiers started to attack in coordination. They soon began to injure the horses.
...
Inside one of the carriages, An old man sat with a stoic expression on his face. Beside him, a sickly girl sat without any sense of vigor. She looks like she will die at any moment.
"Grandpa, we should stop and try to explain. Maybe they will not harm us." The girl said weakly.
"Don't speak. Just rest. We don't have any time to waste. I will only stop when we reach our destination. We can't delay even a minute here." The old man replied.
"But Grandpa, they won't leave us now that we've attacked them first. Also, are you sure that Dr. Jane can heal me?" The girl asked curiously.
"Alia, you don't know but Dr. Jane is a genius doctor. She has developed cures for a few incurable diseases. But the most important thing is she is only 29 years old. At this young age, she has accomplished such brilliant feats in the medical field. I have learned that she has been trying to solve your disease for a while now. that's why I am so desperate cause we have hope." The old grandpa explained in one breath.
"I pray it all goes smoothly." Alia sighed and leaned back.
"Don't worry, it will all work out fine. Trust grandpa." The old grandpa said comfortingly as he stood up. He opened the doors of the running carriage. He saw a group of armored soldiers on horseback following them. His guards were fighting with them.
The old grandpa analyzed the battle situation and quickly determined that Arthur is the leader of this group. The next moment, he chanted a spell that targeted Arthur.
Rumble
The ground began shaking and suddenly an earth golem stood up from the ground. The golem threw everyone off balance. Some of them who were unlucky lost control of their horses and fell on the road.
The carriages got space to breathe from fighting and slowly got out of the encirclement. The old grandpa also retreated inside the carriage. The golem blocked their back and helped them escape.
"Fuck! They are running away."
"Those bastards! If I get them near my hands, I will kill them."
Everyone is cursing out loud to show their anger and killing intent. The golem continues to cause destruction. It didn't let anyone go past it.
Arthur also felt frustrated. They did not do anything but still he and his men were attacked for no reason. Now they have to fight this monster who is clearly stronger than their group. Some people might die in this fight meaninglessly. He felt strong hatred rising in his heart for the people on that carriage.
After dispelling the frustrating thoughts with difficulty, Arthur looked at the group trying to defend themselves as well as protect him,
"Focus everyone, if we want to live, we have to destroy this golem. We have to attack. Only defending will get us nowhere." Arthur shouted with gritted teeth. He quickly started to think of a plan or try to come up with one at least.
He checked his system to see if he has anything useful there for this situation. He looked at his L.P count. He only had 3500 L.P now. He earned some of that by spending the night with Lily before leaving on his journey.
'I wonder what she is doing now!'
As his mind started to wander off, Arthur quickly pulled his thoughts back to the matter hand. With the measly amount of L.P, Arthur cannot buy anything useful from the system. Then he looked at his skill tab but that only made him awkward. Almost all of his skills are related to mingling body.
'I have to make a mental note to buy something that will make me stronger.' Arthur thought.
<"You can buy the magical ability called [ELEMENTAL MAGE]-cost: 1000 L.P (UPGRADEABLE)"> Apsu interjected his thoughts suddenly. The reminder came to him very casually.
Arthur blinked his eyes a few times.
"Fuck! i almost forgot." Arthur suddenly remembered after apsu reminded him. There was a magical ability that allows one to become a mage who can use all types of elemental magic. Although it is a skill that starts from the very bottom, it can be upgraded as the level increases.
["Quickly buy me the ability, apsu."] Arthur replied with urgency evident in his voice.
<"Do you want to buy the magical ability [ELEMENTAL MAGE]?"> A ridicule-filled voice of apsu asked.
["YES.YES.."]
Arthur was thrilled and happy. Arthur saw the [ELEMENTAL MAGE] appear in the magical ability section and 1000 L.P vanished.
["So what now?"]
<"Do you want to buy any apprentice mage level spell?"> apsu was speaking now like a proper system.
["What?"] Arthur was confused.
<"You have to learn a spell to use magic. The system can provide you with many kinds of spellbooks of various elements. As you are an apprentice mage level elemental mage now, you can buy spellbooks of the same level now. Which magic element do you want to start from? The system can provide you Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Thunder element spellbook. Also, each mage level is further divided into three tiers namely Low, Mid, and High tier. The price of them from Low to High is respectively 150 L.P, 250 L.P, 500 L.P for apprentice mage level.">
<"So, what do you want to buy?"> apsu asked after a long monolog.
["You-you-yoou-you cheated me. You did this to swallow my L.P, didn't you? You greedy system."] Arthur was shocked out of his mind.
