Since Eli gave her his address so they could finish their conversation, she drove there with her high heels on, a tank top that doesn't show her belly too much, and jeans. She knocked on the door and Eli opened it.
"Hey Emma! Fancy seeing you here!" He hugged her forcedly. "Wait, why am I here?" Emma said. "Oh, I just wanted to chat and have coffee? And biscuits?" he said.
So they went inside to his room. He got a tray of cookies and coffee and cream from his desk. Emma and Eli picked up the coffee cups. Eli carefully put cream in Emma's coffee and dropped a cookie in it.
"You know, talking with a person who you have met yesterday doesn't mean it's a special occasion to wear high heels. Unless you were trying to impress me." He winked and snorted.
She blushed and took a pair a tennis shoes out of her purse and took her high heels off.
"Soo, how's life?" he asked
"Eh. I have TWO families living in my house. I have to make 8 things each for the members in the house."
He snorted and said, "It's just me, my brother, and my mom. My parents divored a month ago."
Emma was confused. "You don't look sad. Was your dad.. abusive?"
"Oh no!! He is nice! He was just walking down an abandoned road, and a drunk lady pulled him. She pushed him to the ground and kissed him. Then the next morning... he asked for her to sign divorce papers. He told my mom what happened, and my mom didn't want to sign them. He said he insisted if she had signed the papers... he said he was a bad dad and husband. Then I came downstairs to make it right. But it was too late.. he left. And never came back.."
A tear came down his cheek and he wiped it. "I'm so, so sorry. I didn't mean to bring it up. I..I have to go. We can meet at the cafe down the street tomorrow?" she said.
He sniffed and said, "Sure, it's a date."
