As she wandered across the oval she saw a dark shadow out of the corner of her eye, making her stomach twist in knots. It was lurking close to where the school was gathered. She shivered with fear as she stuck close to her friend. Her hand instinctively gripped her friends arm as her heart raced. "Are you alright? We can go back to the paramedic." Jesse's voice was tense, concerned. Julie shook her head continuing on. They sat with her friends but she was focused on the trees at the corner of her vision. Mr Hareena stepped up to the microphone and locked his eyes with her. She turned slightly to continue her vigil making him frown. The ceremony began, names called for first, second and third. They worked their way from 1st form up to 11th form.
The 100 m was last, her award was last. She heard her name ring out, his voice becoming deeper. She stood smiling at her friends. A flash of dark caught her attention making her turn around. A huge black wolf charged towards her, saliva flinging from its bared teeth. She screamed, shock, fear and confusion over taking her. All eyes snapped to the wolf before everyone sprinted away. She didn't move, her body frozen in fear. The beasts jaws opened, showing large teeth. It lunged at Julie, it's teeth clamping over her arm. it threw her into the air before chasing down other students. Julie held her arm as pain coursed through her body. A young girl screamed as the beast clawed at the tree she hid in. Students huddled together at the end of the oval, those injured crying for help. It was like a war zone spurring Julie into motion.
Her fear was pushed aside as she ran towards the beast with a big stick in her good hand. She never stood a chance, the beast turned as she approached knocking the stick from her grip as it lunged at her. A great roar echoed across the oval as it launched. The beast landed heavily on her, knocking the wind out of her. She felt warm liquid coat her. Mr Hareena stood above her with red eyes and sweat dripping from his forehead. She wriggled out from under the beast, getting up only to collapse into Mr Hareena. He held her tightly as they stared at the beast. A large pole from the stage stuck out from the beasts back. Julie stared at the little girl in the tree above them as she cried. People rushed to them, the paramedic making rounds while he waited for back up.
Julie sat on the stage with Mr Hareena, they just stared at each other. Julie watched the blood ooze from her arm making a puddle around her. Her whole body hurt but the paramedic was still checking everyone at the end of the oval. She leant against Mr Hareena her body tired and weak. "Let me help you." His voice was soft as he offered her his bleeding wrist. She gently held it to her lips as she sucked. She took two mouthfuls before bursting into tears. He pulled her into his lap and held her as she cried into his chest. "I'll always protect you." He whispered into her hair. He held her tightly gently rocking them both. "I want you to stay with me during the holiday break." He stated. Her head snapped up staring at him in shock. She didn't have time to reply as the paramedic sat down next to them.
"Let's have a look at you. I'll relocate your arm, your cuts are fine." He spoke as he examined her. He held her shoulder before giving a big shove. She screamed out as pain gripped her body, she crumpled into Mr Hareena's chest holding onto him. "Go to the hospital if you have tingling, numbness or pain." The paramedic said as he stood to search for another patient. Her friends rushed to her, crowding around the pair. "Guys, chill out. I'm fine, just some scratches." Her friends looked at her in shock as they inspected her. "But you were thrown into the air." Angel whispered staring at her in shock. "My memory is actually a bit hazy.." She whispered into Mr Hareena's chest. The girls left to find others, leaving the couple to hold each other. "Mr Hareena... I..." He cut her off, "Please...Call me Victor." He looked down at her.
Their faces were so close together, sharing breath. She ducked her head forward pecking his lips. "Victor I.... God it's stupid but I like you..." A blush took over her face as she hid against his chest. "At least now I won't have to kidnap you until you do...." Her head snapped up at his words, his smirk was playful but he was serious. "Oh you..." They both burst into laughter as they sat with each other. Later that day parents came to whisk their kids back home to safety. The incident was all over the news making the school very unpopular. Julie sat on her bed with her laptop watching the story twist and morph. Someone had gotten a video of parts of it. The news went crazy asking who the man was that killed it and what this beast was doing in a populated area.
Everyone was scared, especially the parents. Well, most of the parents... she didn't even get a phone call from her mother. She was probably at some rich guys mansion in Italy high and drunk. Julie shook her head at the thought of her mother. Being only 18 when Julie was born meant her mother missed out on all the parties of her youth, which she was reliving now. She stood from her bed and began packing her small suitcase, she'd stay with Mr Hareena until the end of break in 6 weeks time. It's not like she had anywhere else to go, her mother didn't own a house. She threw her clothes from the chest of draws onto her bed. She gently began choosing and folding items into her suitcase. She packed 3 winter dresses, 4 jeans, 6 long sleeve shirts, 8 pairs of thigh high socks.
She looked down at her underwear frowning... this wasn't hers. The pile of colourful lace was vastly different to her normal black panties. A note was attached to one "You're too old for those little girl things. Enjoy driving someone mad by being a big girl. Love the girls" She shook her head and sighed... those girls.. She laughed gently as she began folding the lace items. 4 blue, 3 purple, 2 red, 2 white and 1 black pair were now in her suitcase. She then folded the matching bras that were part of the pile. She jumped sky high when a cough came from the doorway. There stood Victor in a long black coat. He gave her a devilish smile as he prowled closer to her. He came to stand at the other side of the bed. He looked down and growled at the small pile of lace still on the bed. "Pack it all." He ground out. She held in her giggles and slowly began folding them into her suitcase.
He stood and watched her as she finished packing everything. As soon as the bag was zipped closed he grabbed it and started marching out the door. She just laughed as she grabbed her phone and followed after him. No one was around to see them... even the teachers had left. She slid her hand into his as they walked across the lawn. He held her hand tightly and smiled down at her revealing pearly white fangs, but she wasn't scared.
