Chapter 6 - SAVIOURS

The blood splashed onto Yasmine's face with a splat. She stood there frozen, watching as the severed arm fell to the ground with a thud. It was almost like everything was happening in slow motion. Jason Boise let out a loud scream and staggered a few steps back. Just then, a figure placed itself between the siblings and their father.

The person's skin was dark and dark brown hair poofed up their head in an afro. The hair was held using a hairband that wound itself around the back and into the curled-up locks. "Are you alright!" The person yelled. It was then that Yasmine noticed that it was a woman. She was dressed in a sleeveless light green shirt and a flowy black skirt that fell to her mid-thigh.

As she turned to look at the siblings, the skirt swished up at the bottom hem, revealing a black tattoo that wound around her mid-thigh. With a single shove, she pushed the duo back. Although it seemed as if she had used very little strength, they still fell back over three feet and landed on something warm and soft.

The something warm let out a deep breath. 'You dare throw these things on me!' It growled. Yasmine jumped up in fright. Elroy froze and slowly looked behind him. They had landed on a large lion-like creature. It had a pair of wings on its back and a large horn in the middle of its head. Its fur was red and its eyes a bright yellow.

Elroy scrambled to get up.

"Did it just speak?!"

Yasmine shook her head, "You are seeing a red lion with a horn on its head and wings on its back and the first thing you ask is if it spoke!?"

Elroy shot his sister a glare, momentarily forgetting the predicament that they were in.

The winged lion let out a low rumble from its chest. The siblings were brought back from their stare-off. They gave each other a look and Elroy took his sister's hand. Jason Boise was fighting with the dark-skinned woman.

The way their father fought was nothing like they would have expected from a man who had not entered the gym a day after he turned thirty. Tears sprung up in Yasmine's eyes. Why was their father suddenly acting like this? What had happened to him?

Their thought process was cut off as a stray stick from the fight flew towards them.

Elroy and Leilani ducked before he pulled his sister with him. Their father had just tried to kill them. Despite how much he loved his father, he did not want his sister to get hurt. In addition to that, he did not seem to be quite alright in the head. He was definitely injured, however, he ignored his wounds. Their father detested pain. He would not want to get injured even in the slightest. When he did get injured, he would become 'bedridden' for a few days.

Jason Boise seemingly ignored his bleeding arm as it dripped blood to the soil. He fought barehanded against the woman. Her weapon was a pair of half-moon-shaped sickle-like knives. The handle was wooden and cylindrical. It fit perfectly in the inner part of her arm, and as she slashed her weapon at the man, the blades made a light whooshing sound.

Jason raised his leg up high, and if one had listened closely, they would have heard a low crack from the older Boise's knee. The leg swooshed up, leaving the woman a few seconds to parry it and just nick the man's leg.

The man jumped a few paces back, and the dark-skinned female jumped up to a low tree branch and balanced herself on it by digging the tip of the blade into the branch, "Are you just going to stand there in the shadows Vadmira?" she spoke in a loud voice.

Another female walked out of the shadow of a cluster of trees, just where Yasmine and Elroy were passing. Surprised, Elroy staggered back, pulling Yasmine with him. His legs twined together, and he fell onto the ground in a heap, with his sister landing on him with a thud.

"I was just watching." The woman who had walked out of the shadows answered. "Aren't you handling it just fine? Although he looks alright, it seems like he is simply a puppet."

The woman had pale skin and dark black hair that fell down to the back of her knees in straight waves. Her eyes, which turned to stare at Yasmine and Elroy were a dark brown color, which seemingly matched with the bark of the tree she was hiding next to. She blew her bangs out of her face before raising her hand, "Move, Thyra." A ball of dark shadows began to form on the palm of her hands. It was a dark brown color that matched the color of her eyes.

The dark-skinned female, Thyra, immediately reacted to her voice and jumped away from Jason. Having lost the person that he was fighting with, the puppet was immediately confused. He stared blankly at the position that she had been standing in for a few seconds before his head shot up.

"Get Skylar Boise! Get Yasmine Boise! Get Elroy Boise!" he growled in a low voice, continuing to repeat it like a mantra. His face raised up, and he sniffed the air, before finally slowly turning his head to where Elroy and Yasmine lay on the ground in shock.

His mouth opened wide, and he let out an ear-piercing sound that rattled the eardrums. Everyone around him raised their hands to cover their ears. "Just a bit longer," Vadmira whispered in a low voice, which caused Yasmine to turn to her. Since the female's hair was long, it was a little hard to notice the blood that was dripping down her ears.

Although Yasmine had no idea what was happening, she still felt that if that, whatever that ball was, hit her father, he would surely die and they wouldn't find a way to discover why it is he had tried to kill them in the first place. Her body moved before she could register it, and just as Vadmira was ready to finish him off, a whole-body knocked itself into the side of her stomach.

Even though she was strong, she was still caught off guard. Her body swerved back, and the hand that was holding her spell raised up into the sky. She watched as the spell flew off its planned trajectory and smacked a tree that was next to the lion-looking animal. The animal shouted a few words of anger before disappearing into thin air with its tail raised up.

"Are you fucking stupid!" the dark-haired female pushed Yasmine off of her. Blood dripped down from Yasmine's ears, making its path down her neck and soaking the top part of her shirt red.

Yasmine groaned as she pulled her body up. The tree that had been smacked by the shadows shrunk in size rapidly before bursting into pieces with a large sound. "You could have died you bloody dolt!" Vadmira continued to admonish. "Why are you even trying to save him? He just tried to kill you, did he not?"

Yasmine looked back at the short female. Her head was throbbing, and her vision seemed to spin for a few seconds. Just as she thought that she was going to pass out, the screeching noise came to a halt. Vadmira did not even flinch, as she turned to Thyra who was standing quite some distance away.

"That noise must have alerted the others. Hurry, let us finish this quickly." She raised her hand and another spell began to form.

This time, the spell was much smaller than before, but it still sent shivers down Yasmine's spine. She pushed her body up, ready to stop Vadmira. Just then, Elroy groaned, and his body jerked up at the waist.

He was foaming at the mouth, and his eyes had rolled to the back of his head. "Elroy!" Yasmine yelled out, momentarily forgetting the fact that her father was just about to be killed.

Elroy's body was enshrouded with a multitude of dark shadows that covered his body all the way to his head. "No! No! No!" Yasmine managed to speak in a low voice as she struggled to push her body up.

His body jerked back down, his waist hitting the ground with a loud thud. A loud scream made it's way out of his lips, causing Yasmine to shudder. Nevertheless, she continued to move, "Fucking move Yasmine." Yasmine psyched herself up.
