Chapter 12 - KILL THEM

"Yasmine!" Thyra called out again, much louder this time.

Since she was out of range, the hallucinogenic voice had no effect on her. However, the closer Yasmine got to it, the stronger the effects would be, and the harder it would be for them to protect her. Thyra looked around her, at all of the others who were also too afraid to move into the range of the hallucinogenic voice. If they did that, then they too would die in this forsaken land.

Just then, the mana that had been vibrating began to move. "If I can't have you, no one can." The odd voice spoke. The blood dripped faster from Jason Boise's eyes. As his armless body tried to wriggle up from the ground. There was a wide smile painted upon his blood red lips. That smile caused all their bodies to shudder.

It was then that Ranky and Leylanie, who were furthest from the puppet, realized what was happening. "The puppet is going to blow itself up!" Ranky all but shouted. His voice caused Stilow to also realize what was going to happen.

"Get out of there Thyra!" Stilow shouted, as the little fox that had been tottering next to Alec rapidly grew in size. Since it was a spirit beast, it only listened to the words of its tamer, and thus could not be controlled by a hallucinogenic voice. Its tails were a magnificent white color, which slowly turned brown towards the tips. It ignored Yasmine, and quickly picked up Thyra by the scruff before plopping her next to the unconscious boy.

Just as it was about to go to pick up Yasmine as well, a thick iron stench permeated the air. The scent was so strong, that it was hard to miss. This stench caused even the spirit beast to halt. All of the people in the area turned to the direction the stench permeated from. "Something is coming."

Alec's voice was hoarse. Although he had the ability to tame spiritual beasts, it still took a toll on his mana, seeing as they were in a forsaken land that did not have a large mana pool that he could replenish from. His spirit beasts used up his mana when they were not in the spirit realm, and without a steady source of mana he could siphon from, he could not hold their presence for much longer.

"Quickly." He patted the beast's white fur then pointed at Yasmine. "Get her out of there," were the only words he managed to say before his body fell limp into Thyra's arms. His skin was pale, but with this, his skin had become even paler, with sweat dotting the entirety of his forehead and neck. It was everything he could do to keep his eyes open.

The large fox growled softly, before moving quickly towards Yasmine, following its master's command. It knew better than anyone that it had limited time left before it would be pushed back into the spirit realm, without a way of protecting its master.

It had just gotten close enough to grab her scruff, when something smacked into him, throwing him backwards. "Axine!" Alec stumbled away from Thyra, in an attempt to get to his spirit animal. It had been tossed to their direction, and had rapidly shrunk down due to the sudden attack.

"Stay still." Thyra slowly placed him down, before turning to get the spirit beast on his behalf.

The little fox had shrunk to the size of her palm, and nestled quite pitifully in her embrace.

As she quickly returned to Alec's side, she looked towards the direction of Yasmine. With whatever it was that had interrupted their rescue, she feared that they were too late.

However, once the dust cleared up, their eyes widened, as they could now see the figures that had caused the disturbance. The two males were tall, and they carried with them the unmistakable stench of iron.

Thyra was the first to react, as she crouched down low, and unhooked her half-moon sickles from where they had been strapped, her thighs. The blades extended from the handles, as she crouched down. Her hair bounced slightly, as she shouted, "Identify yourselves." To the two figures that had arrived at the scene.

The two figures slowly turned, and their faces came to view of all those at the scene. The two males had chocolate colored skin, which seemed to glow in the light of the moon. Their eyes were dark brown, and curled up over their eyes. As if they had discussed it before, they tilted their heads ever so slightly at the question that Thyra had posed.

The one on the left held Yasmine in his arms. She was still dazed, as she had been influenced by the hallucinogenic voice. The one on the right had knelt, and had a blade over Jason Boise's neck. Their eyes were a dark shade, from what Thyra could infer. However, she could not see much of their features due to the masks that were covering the lower bits of their faces.

They were dressed quite, oddly, in the standards of those who were looking at them. Their clothes were black, a dark black. However, they were both cropped, exposing their navels. One wore a long trench coat over his black cropped shirt, while the other had a half turtleneck that only covered up to his chest over his shirt.

The one kneeling with a knife to Jason's neck had a quiver strapped to his back, over the trench coat he wore. However, the quiver was empty, and he did not seem to have a bow either.

The one holding onto Lexine had a sword strapped to his waist. His trousers were baggy, with many pockets. Thyra counted eight pockets, with potential weapons. She did not put it past him to have other pockets in places that she couldn't see.

"There's other people here Doug." The one holding Lexine spoke up. His voice was muffled due to the mask he was wearing, but Thyra could still hear him properly.
