Chapter 13 - SLOW MOTION

"If they show any intent to harm the princess, kill them." The other one spoke. His voice was much lower than the first one's voice.

The others had finally realized what was going on. Alec had struggled to get up from the ground, and he had gotten his sword out. It was large, and spanned over the entire length of his body. His shoulder length dark maroon hair had fallen out of its tie, and the strand fell over his eyes. "What are they saying?" his voice was low as he asked Thyra. There was a slight ringing in his ears, perhaps because of his abuse of mana.

"That they want to…" her words were cut off, as a sword flew to her, and she was forced to bend her body backwards to prevent herself from getting hurt.

However, from the direction of the sword, a couple more smaller blades followed in its wake, heading straight for the direction of Alec, who was still too weak to take care of all of them. His had his sword sunk into the soil, as he used it somehow as a staff to pull himself off of the ground.

At that moment, Thyra felt as if everything was happening in slow motion. The blades were star shaped, with sharply pointed edges. There were others that were headed to the direction of the others, but she was sure that they could take care of themselves. Thus, she grit her teeth, and stamped the heel of her foot before twisting the heel of her other foot, this caused her whole body to twist to the side. She rolled over her head, and quickly fell to a half kneeling half squatting position, where she raised her half-moon sickles, parrying the star shaped blades.

"Are you alright Alec?" her voice was breathy as she asked. The blades had landed on a bark of a tree behind them. Alec's breath had slowly returned to him, and although so minimal, he had managed to regain a small amount of his mana.

"I am alright now, Thyra."

"They do not seem friendly." She said, raising one of her hands to push her curly locks away from her face.

"That they do not."

"But they do not seem to want to injure the two children." She said, seeing as she wanted them not to fight with them.

She had just finished speaking, and was unable to address the others when a dark black arrow whooshed past her figure, flying over to the man who had hoisted Jason Boise over his shoulder. Thyra looked back to see Vadmira holding her black bow. Her lips were tightly pursed, and her eyes were a bright blood red. "Who dares?" She had been wearing a floor length strapless dress, because she had been dragged to this mission.

The fur coat she that had been slung over her shoulders before they transported over had been lost somewhere.

She walked in front of Thyra, and raised her bow once more. It was then that Thyra noticed that her dress had gotten a long tear from the ankle all the way up to her upper thigh. The shoes that she was wearing were high, but it did not inhibit her fluid movements.

Her arrow nicked the man holding Jason Boise over the tips of his fingers. His skin tore, and blood pooled from the wound, and dripped onto the soil. "Who dares strike me?" Her voice was chilling, to the point of sending shivers down the spines of everyone else in the area.

"Vadmira." Stilow's voice was low, as he stood beside her. He raised his right hand to push his glasses up his nose. "Do not lose control here. There isn't enough mana you would use to replenish your reserves."

Vadmira turned, and her blood red eyes peered at Stilow. He was holding a piece of pastry that he had gotten from god knows where. "I…" she was ready to retort, however, the look in his eyes made her pause.

He was just as angry as she was.

They had been dispatched to this forsaken world in order to bring back the three siblings. Despite going in secret, there were others who were coming for the siblings as well. Not to mention that they could not find the third sibling.

It was obvious that Stilow, who got angry much faster than she did, would be livid at this point. He took the last bite of the pastry that he was holding, and then took off his glasses. The blue color in his eyes was so light that it resembled the midday clear sky. With the strength that she could muster, took a large step back, pulling both Alec and Thyra with her.

Stilow walked in front of them, and pulled out a smaller gun from his inner coat pocket. He had picked it simply because it would consume less of his mana. It was silver in color, with a leather handle and a small golden tassel close to the grip of the gun. The barrel had golden highlights on it and the only different color was the safety which was a light blue color.

It looked like a semi-automatic pistol, but the barrel was just a tad bigger than your usual gun. This was the gun that Stilow used when he wanted to cause damage, but he did not want to kill.

He cocked the gun, and poured his mana into the safety of the gun, which caused it to whirr as the mana quickly got converted into little mana bullets which were released at his target, who was holding Lexine. The mana bullet was the size of a normal bullet, and it was easy for Christino, who had seen a lot of normal bullets, to dodge it.

In fact, it was as if the bullet was moving in slow motion to him. With Yasmine still securely held in his arms in a princess hold, he swerved their bodies to the right, and the bullet hit the tree that was behind him. Even though the tree was large, and was probably tens of years old, it cracked at the point of impact of the bullet.
