A few hours passed and noon came when Luis and the Sky Chasers appeared at a ruined town.
It looked as if the destruction only happened recently.
Some of the houses still have smoke coming from them.
He walked towards the place where the Blacksmith was and entered it.
From inside they saw a man standing erect in front of some women and children as the man was holding a large shield guarding the people behind him with it but he didn't succeed.
The people looked glossy black like obsidian, some of them looked like they were burnt before they were turned into obsidians.
Women and children cuddling each other while one can still see the trace of their tears that was made solid by that strange energy.
Mr. Gus, the hardworking blacksmith of the town died protecting the townspeople he loved.
They entered some of the houses and they saw a lot of heartbreaking scenes as they looked at each house.
There was a house where an old couple was living, the team saw the two sitting together holding their hands as a smile can be seen on their face.
"Even before they died, they still accepted their fate and died happily," Julianne muttered to herself as a tear escaped from her eye.
Her brother comforted her as they went to the next house.
The house was all black like obsidian, when they entered, they saw the frightened look of the guy who was hugging a woman and three children.
The look of a perfect family can be seen from them but this perfect family was now stone solid from the energy that killed them.
They moved houses from houses until they approached the house of the person they came for.
The shabby house where Luis lived for almost a year where he was fostered by the local Alchemist and Physician of the town.
The town where people accepted him as one of them.
The place where he first felt the feeling of belonging.
It was now destroyed and turned into ruins.
Inside the house, he saw the familiar built of an old man who took care of him.
His expression was struggling as he held a large cauldron in front of him as if he was defending everyone behind him from a strong attack that destroyed the cauldron in an instant.
A few men can be seen holding some weapons behind them can be seen standing together with the old man as they are prepared to fight against the enemy with their whole life.
"Grandpa Dave?" Luis sobbed as he approached the corpse of an old man standing.
He cried his heart out as he shouted all of the pain that he was keeping since he heard the news.
"What happened grandpa? How did this happen?" Luis cried asking the corpse even though he knew that it will never reply to him.
"Who did this? Why did they do this to this town? I know that everyone here is innocent and didn't do anything bad, so why?" He cried as he held the solid corpse of the old man in an embrace as tears continuously escaped from his eyes.
The Sky Chasers also cried.
They felt heartbroken just from seeing this weak side of Luis.
Tears were pouring down as he recalled the memories of the past. The days when they were gathering herbs together.
When he was taught by Dave how to do Alchemy and the way of the Physician. Concocting potions together, curing townspeople together, and eating a full meal together.
Those happy memories were recalled but the sense of happiness can't be sense from it, instead, sorrowful emotions lingered around as Luis mourned for the first master and father-like figure he had.
The whole team was crying as Archie took a deep breath and stepped back as he started chanting a spell.
"Legacy Skill: Song of the Sorrowful Winds!" Archie started singing as the gentle breeze blew around the town bringing a sad melody as winds passed through the small holes of the houses as it made a sound of the flute that brings harmony and rhythm to Archie's song.
Night came and the young man embracing the standing corpse of the old man loosen his embrace as sobs still echoed around the small house.
"Thank you for everything that you did, Grandpa Dave! I will never forget everything that you have said to me. I promise on behalf of this grave, I will fulfill your dreams as your first apprentice and I'll spread your honor as the first master who accepted me!" Luis wiped his tears away as they walked towards the center of the town.
"Guys, I will make my offering for the deceased here, you can go back first if you want to," Luis told his teammates but they refused to move as they circled him.
"We will also do offerings as our respect and thanks to the people of this town that helped and took care of you, without them, there will be no Sky Chasers now." Alyssa stood up and spoke what's in her mind.
"I'll go first! I thank you, people of Eristreas, for giving Luis to us! Ice Blessings: Mist of the Souls!" Jay chanted as mist emitted from his hands.
"May the winds of this place bring back the wonderful memories of this town! Wind Blessing: Sylph's Virtue!" Serion chanted as winds blew around the town as flickers of the memories of the people living here are showing as if they are alive.
"Thank you for giving us a wonderful person as a part of our team, no, a part of our family, may you all rest in peace! Fire Blessing: Embers of Life!" Alyssa chanted as thousands of embers with the size of a seed roamed around the place as they give dim life around the dark town as if they are the last flickers of life of this town.
"Thank you for everything Eristreas! Even though my first day in this town is a disaster, you never fail to show me, a foreigner, what is the feeling of having a very big family like. Accept my most sincere farewell to you! Nature's Blessings: Dance of the Phantom Flowers!" Luis chanted as he made the dance together with the wind blowing and the embers flickering as glowing flowers grew up and bloomed as it emitted a faint glow.
He danced gracefully around the center of the town and Alyssa joined him.
Together, they danced with the wind like a couple cherishing the moment. Different colors of light flickered around them making their dance graceful and magical.
When the last few steps ended, the flowers bloomed and glowed brightly as thousands of wisps came out of nowhere as they gathered together and formed silhouettes.
The silhouettes are the people living in Eristreas Town.
A bright wide smile can be seen from the silhouettes of men, women, and children as they waved their hands towards the team and a single silhouette was left behind.
It was a silhouette of an old man who took care of Luis for eleven months.
The man who taught him Medicine and Alchemy. The man who was his first master and the man who he treated as his father, Old Man Dave.
The silhouette of the man has this wide smile on his face as he approached the young man and wiped his tears away.
The silhouette of Old Man Dave nodded as he hugged the young man.
Luis hugged back and a few moments later, the silhouette of the old man slowly dispersed as the young man was left hugging nothing but air.
"I promise you, people of Eristreas, I, Ignacius Luis Delmont, will find the one who caused this mess and avenge all of you, I promise this in the name of the heavens!" Luis swore as the sky darkened and the thunders are roaring, bright lightning struck the young man but it didn't burn him, and instead, a mark of lightning appeared at the center of his chest.
"It's the Mark of the Heavenly Lightning Pact!" Alyssa exclaimed when she caught the glimpse of the mark when the wind blew Luis's robes.
The Heavenly Lightning Pact is the promise made in the name of the heavens, it will only appear when intense emotions were shown before they swore.
It was a very strict pact and one needed to accomplish this pact or a Heavenly Lightning Retribution will descend upon the one who broke the promise, but when one accomplished the promise, they will receive the Descent of the Heavenly Light, the reward of the heavens.
No one knows what is it, no one knows what it does.
The team walked out of the town as they took a last glimpse of the town.
"Guys, before we leave, I want to do something first." Luis stopped as he walked close to the town.
"Supreme Earth Skill: Rise of the Mountain!" Luis chanted as sweat ran from his face.
Boulders and dirt rose from the ground as it made a dome to safely cover the dead town. It continued to surge towards the town as it became higher and higher as the ground continuously trembled.
After an hour, a thousand-meter mountain appeared in front of them.
"A high-grade spell!" Serion exclaimed.
The team silently went home guiding the pale-faced Luis who spent a lot of his energy.
While they are walking, no one noticed the Mark of the Mage at the back of Luis's hand, turned from Green into Cyan.
The whole kingdom was startled when they heard the news of a mountain emerging from Eristreas where the town, which was destroyed, was located.
An investigator went to the location of the mountain and found the Eristreas Town inside a big dome.
It felt so magical as the dim flickering lights roamed around the dome giving a faint light to the dark town.
He discovered that everything inside this dome was made of energy thus he named Combination Skill: Elegy to Eristreas.
The kingdom declared that the mountain will be called the Mysterious Mountain of Eristreas.
