Chapter 1 - The Vision (Part 1)

"The entire kingdom will be ravaged, our defenses crumbled, houses will be burned, children witnessing their parents' falling right before their eyes. Every man in sight slain, cries, screams, horses trampling on damp grounds, swords slicing through flesh. The only sounds that fill the air. You both are brought to the throne room kneeling before your children who cry out for you"

"Mommy! Daddy! No!"

"They watch as your throats are slit and your blood spreads across the floor completely covering the Baranova Family Crest as if it never existed"

The seer's eyes had finally returned to their natural green colour and her voice no longer possessed by her ancestor. King Elijah and Queen Rena were still in shock of what they just heard, not as shocked as Ariah who had to endure the vision. Her visions occurred anywhere at any time, sometimes when they are most likely to happen the vision would repeat. This particular vision she has been experiencing for three days. The first time it happened, she did not know how to tell the King and Queen that their reign would come to a brutal end and on top of that she could not tell who the invaders were and how they were able to defeat them. It was not until after the second time that Ariah knew what she had to do but to her surprise, she could not remember anything about the vision. The only way for them to believe her was for them to witness her possession. She stayed by their side throughout the days that followed never leaving. As Ariah and Rena slept, Elijah would stay awake in case she had the vision while they were asleep.

All three of them were growing weary of this possible threat from an army which has not been revealed. Tonight both Rena and Elijah had been present to receive the grave news. Ariah's bedroom had been their quarters for some days.

"This doesn't make any sense, an army capable to counter our defenses?" Rena asked still with a bit of disbelief.

"One exists, how conveniently their banners are unforeseen," Elijah said being the calmest out of the three. But then again this was one of the best qualities that he was fortunate to have as King he needed a lot of it.

"Is there any possibility that the identity of the army will be revealed?" Elijah asked Ariah who was frustrated with herself that she could not give them more information about the vision.

"My King, the vision has been the same since the first time" Ariah responded, she swallowed nervously before saying

"If the banners of the army have not been revealed by now, they never will until the event occurs."

"Then we will have to gather the members of the council first thing tomorrow, we should rest for the remainder of the night" Elijah released Ariah from her duties and began to escort Rena out of the room.

"I'm sorry your majesties, I wish I could've done more. I wish I could be like how my mother was and control my visions so that I could answer all your questions. Forgive me, I'm not the seer you deserve." Ariah was kneeling on the wooden floor as her white nightgown was now dampened with her tears, her hair falling in her face.

Stopped from existing the bedroom, Rena rushes to her side and kneels in front of her lifting her head, wiping her tears and moving her hair out of her face.

"You should never say something so foolish ever again, do you understand" Ariah shook her head in agreement. "You have been given a gift that many people would wish to have, you are your mother's daughter and she would be so proud of you. Your vision has given us as much information as we need right now and we are so thankful to have you in our lives" Rena wrapped her arms around Ariah as she brought them both to their feet.

"Now you should get some rest, we will need you to be present at the council meeting tomorrow" Elijah explained.

"I will be there and thank you, your majesties" Ariah smiled as she wiped the remaining tears off her face. She bowed to Rena and Elijah before they left

Elijah and Rena returned to their quarters, a room where they have been absent for a while. Though they adored Ariah, having their own space as husband and wife once again was greatly appreciated. The royal chamber maids lit the candles located on either side of the bed. The air has the familiar scent of lilies. Elijah and Rena went to their respective sides of the bed attempting their best to process what they had learnt.

"I can't believe this could happen?" Rena's voice was soft while wrapped up in

Elijah's arms, she looked up from his chest to his eyes hoping to somehow find the answers in them. They had always found a way when dealing with opposing armies.

The two were like fire and ice, hot and cold, summer and winter, but together they balanced each other perfectly. Elijah was trained and groomed to be a ruler, he had tutors who educated him on diplomacy, battle strategies, swordsmanship, horseback riding, physical combat and sailing. His studies also included the various forms of sciences and philosophy. For all the literature and tutors, no book could teach him how to be kind, honest and thoughtful. These were the traits that he possessed, some even said that it would be his downfall. But it made him one of the best if not the best ruler thus far. Despite his brilliance and talent, he would often seek out other opinions and that is where Rena comes in...

Her approach to a situation always began and ended with strategy, she would plan every single move perfectly and have a backup after backup in case her moves were counteracted. She has a remarkable mind and an outstanding fighter, some would even be so bold to say that she is better than Elijah.
