"Oh my God! Did you hear?"
"Hear what?"
"About the drama this morning?"
"What drama?"
"Yeah. What are you talking about?"
I was sitting outside of my dorm waiting for Rhea. She forgot something up in my room. So, she ran back upstairs while I waited for her. Just between you and me, I doubt she forgot anything. She was probably just looking for that dildo she was fascinated with.
As I sat there, 3 other girls were sharing the veranda with me. Two were seated on a comfortable looking sofa while the other was in a lounge chair lying on her side to talk to her friends. Their fresh faces were filled with energy and excitement as they gossiped about the most recent news.
I wasn't trying to eavesdrop. But it was difficult when they were being so loud. Whatever. It's not like I had anything better to do.
"So, I couldn't sleep. So, I got up and went to the cafe. When I came back, there was this huge commotion." She paused for dramatic effect.
Unable to stand the suspense, one of the girls gave in. "What happened?"
The girl dropped her voice to a near whisper. "You know Celeste VanWalters?"
Now my interest was piqued. I turned my head a little, angling my ear towards their conversation.
"Yeah!"
Of course, they knew Celeste. How couldn't they?
"Well, she was being surrounded by a group of women, all in dark clothing. They were like the FBI or something. They had to be! Anyway, Celeste was buck-ass naked!"
"What?!"
"That's crazy!" Despite the shock in their voices, their faces were alit with interest. They wanted to know more.
"I know, right? So, she was having like, a nervous breakdown or something. She was kicking and screaming for God…or maybe Goddess. Yeah. It was definitely Goddess. I don't know. She kept fighting to get the girls off of her while she screamed at them. She was all like 'I need my Goddess! My Goddess has abandoned me!' It was crazy!"
"So, what happened?"
"It was fucking insane! They were fighting her. For a minute, she was really kicking their asses. Then they ganged up on her and held her down. She was like a little hurricane! Then this woman came out of nowhere and jammed a needle in her neck, and it was lights out!"
"Whoa! That's crazy!"
"I know. You should've been there."
"Did anyone else see?"
"Yeah. A bunch of people. They were pretty loud."
"I'm sad that I missed it. That bitch…!" When they saw me sitting there within earshot, they stopped talking. I didn't mind though. I'd heard everything that I needed to hear.
It looks like our little session has had some lasting effects.
"Hey, Kyah! Sorry to make you wait." Rhea picked that moment to come outside. Her cute face brought a smile to my lips.
I stood and greeted her. "No problem. Find what you were looking for?"
She grimaced. "No! I couldn't find that damn dild…I-I-I mean…yeah. I'm good. Let's go. Kay?"
I just shook my head. She's too easy to read, and she's not a good liar either. But that's one of her charms.
Rhea's room was situated in the dorm meant for live-in faculty. The facility dorm wasn't as opulent as the dorm where Celeste lived, but it was much nicer than my own. They even had a doorwoman. My dorm didn't employ one. You could come and go and no one gave a crap.
"Let's take the elevator. We're on the fifth floor." I willingly followed her. She held my hand tightly like she was afraid I would run away. Luckily for her, I had no intention of going anywhere. I made a promise and I meant to keep it.
"My friends are really nice. I'm sure you'll like them." We'd just gotten off the elevator. During the ride, Rhea was quiet. When she spoke, I didn't know if she was trying to convince me or herself.
I squeezed her hand. "Don't worry. I'm sure it'll be fine. Let's go."
"Okay."
She led me towards an unassuming door. As we moved closer, the only sound I could hear was the quiet humming of the electric light above our heads.
She pulled out her key and inserted it in the lock. After taking a deep breath, she unlocked the door.
Inside was a spacious living area. The dining area was to the left, next to the kitchen. The living room was to the right. The entire area was empty.
"Huh? Where is everyone?" Rhea quickly forgot her nervousness as she moved around her suite. She came back after a minute, confusion on her face. "Everyone is gone. That's strange. Well, I'm going to go get ready. Want to come or would you rather sit out here?"
I glanced at the comfortable looking couch and headed in that direction. "I'll hang out here. I'd rather be surprised." When she heard me, she clenched her fists. She was psyching herself up to give me more eye candy, and I liked it.
She then left and entered a room down at the end of the hallway. I was busy staring out the wide window. Everything was peaceful and quiet for several minutes. Then I heard the door open.
"Their food here is so damn good!"
"I know. Better than what they fed us in college."
"What about Rhea?"
"She was gone when I woke up. She was up half the night. So, I'm surprised she got up before we did."
"Oh! That's right. She's spending time with her little girlfriend, huh?"
"Yeah. She's pretty excited about it."
"""Huh?"""
They'd been continuing their conversation as they entered the suite. Three women, each as pretty as the next, entered. When they saw me sitting in the living room, they all said the same thing. I smiled.
Standing, I waved in a friendly manner. "Hi. I'm Kyah. Kyah Open-Cloud."
It was like they were deer in a headlight. It lasted for so long that I started to wonder if I'd forgotten to put on pants or something.
Finally, the girl who looked like she was a Pacific Islander stepped forward. "How'd you get in here?"
"Oh! Rhea let me in. She's in her room getting ready."
"Ah! Wait…getting ready?"
I scratched my head. "Well…some things sort of happened and we had to come back here so she could change."
The girls all exchanged a glance and then burst out in laughter. The pretty Black girl responded, "That sounds like Rhea."
The cute and curvaceous blonde agreed, "Totally like Rhea."
The Pacific Islander just nodded with a wide smile on her face. Then she stepped into the room and reached for my hand. "Hi! Sorry for giving you the 3rd degree."
"Don't worry about it. I'm a stranger in your room. Of course, you have the right to ask who I am and how I got in. I'm not offended. Don't worry."
"Great! Well, let me introduce us. My name is Leinani. I've known Rhea since way back when. The Black girl is Simone. The White girl is Sierra."
The girls all smiled at me in a friendly and welcoming way.
"It's nice to meet you all."
Sierra came over and pulled me into a hug. "Same here. Rhea won't stop talking about you. So, tell us. What exactly did you do to our friend?"
Simone approached me from the other side and pulled me down onto the couch. "Yeah. Give us the deets!"
I was surrounded on all sides. I felt a helplessness I haven't felt in weeks. I knew that without a doubt, there was no escaping from this encirclement. They each looked like hungry jackals. I felt that if I didn't spill something, they'd eat me alive.
What was it about girls and gossip? Of course, this wasn't just any gossip. They were looking out for their friend, which was probably why I felt like they were so intense. It wasn't really anything that they did. It was more like the energy they put off. It was the intensity in their eyes. It was the hungry smirks on their faces.
Yeah…I was surrounded by Rhea's friends. They may become my enemies. But right now, they were just acquaintances…nosy acquaintances.
"Okay. Well, I don't know what Rhea has told you, but I'm a student here. A senior. I'm graduating in just a little over a month."
"She told us." Leinani said. "She said you've gotten into college. Where?"
"I got into college here and a few other places."
Sierra leaned forward. Her large breasts nearly fell out of her top. "Places like?"
"Umm…Brown. NYU. Cambridge."
"Holy fuck! You got into Cambridge?! That's incredible!" Simone was the first to shout but her sentiments were shared by the other two.
"Does Rhea know?"
I shook my head. "No. I haven't told her yet."
"Why not?"
"Well, it hasn't really come up. We talked but I guess we sort of avoided this topic."
"I see." Leinani was contemplating something. Probably whether to tell Rhea or not.
"I haven't decided where I'm going to go."
"Where do you want to go?"
"Honestly? I don't even know if I'm going to go to college."
They all looked at me like I'd just grown a second head.
"Seriously? But you've gotten into some impressive schools. Why go through all of that effort only to ditch it all in the end?"
"Umm. Recently some things have sort of changed in my life. I might take some time to just explore that before I make any big commitments."
"Oh. I get you." Simone smiled. "Like soul searching?"
"Yeah. Something like that." How could I explain to them that I'd just become a holy vessel? Would they even be able to wrap their minds around a concept like that? Probably not. They'd probably think I was some loon.
"So, about that dildo. Where'd you get it?"
"Sierra!"
"What? It's not like you weren't curious, Lei. Besides, the way Rhea put it, it makes me feel like I'd never need a boyfriend if I got my hands on that monster."
"You're so twisted."
"Whatever. Anyway, Kyah…you're going to tell us, right?"
"Tell you what?" With expert timing, Rhea finally appeared. She looked like a movie star with her half-empress bun, and emerald green velvet dress. The dress hugged her petite frame and made her surprisingly shapely body even more so. She looked like a million bucks.
"Wow! You look amazing, Rhea. Truly." I wasn't lying. When I saw her, all the other thoughts escaped me. She really did look like a dream. There was only one problem.
"Are you going to a movie premiere or something? Why are you wearing that if you 2 are just going out around town? Were you looking to turn-on every guy between here and the Mississippi?"
Harsh.
Really harsh…but accurate.
While Rhea did look amazing and I wanted to peel that tight dress off her tasty body, she was overdoing it a bit.
She looked at Leinani and grimaced. "Do you think I'm overdressed, Leinani?"
"Yes! Geez! You're hopeless. Come on. Let's go get something that won't cause every man in a 30-mile radius to have a nosebleed."
Leinani seemed like the overprotective/motherly type. Every group of friends had one (at least that's what I read). It seemed like Leinani was the one for this group.
She pulled Rhea back into the room as Rhea looked at me like she wanted me to rescue her. But I knew how to pick my battles. Vessel or not. I wasn't about to get involved in this.
As soon as they left, Sierra leaned forward again.
"You never answered my question. Where'd you get that dildo from?"
Sweet Goddess! They are all a bunch of crazy nymphos!
