Adri's POV
"Good morning guys!" Justin happily said the moment he sits beside Luke and me. We are waiting for our nine am class. Janna’s still not here. We both looked at him suspiciously. He’s too happy today. Hmmm.
"It’s either you sleep well or you woke up feeling good. What happened?" Luke immediately asks him but it looks like he didn’t heart it instead, his smile widely than he was five minutes ago. He’s insane.
"Just! Are you finally being insane? Did you lose your mind on the way here? But nah, as if you have a brain." I asked. Well, he just stood up then started to walk towards me while he is looking at me keenly.
"Adri! You’re pretty. I didn’t notice that until now." He said. We now have at least a 2-meter gap between us. He’s going nuts.
"Hey! Are you drunk?" Luke asked him again with a very confused look. But of course, Justin didn’t bother to answer.
"Just what’s the matter with you? You’re too close! Go away!" I said and was about to push him away from me but it’s no use. He’s too strong for me. He’s being weird. What’s wrong with this guy?!
"Adri, wait. Stay still. You really are pretty. I just realized it now.” He said then took a step forward. I swear to God, I’m so close to punch him. He’s not in his usual self.
"Stay away from her. What’s the heck is wrong with you, Justin? Don’t tell me you like my girlfriend?!” this time Luke step up and gently pulled me away from the crazy guy.
"Pfft! You’re making me laugh, Luke! Me? I like Adri?? Pfft! I just said she’s pretty. Why would I like her when she’s with you? Besides, she’s too tough for me and I consider her as my younger brother. HAHAHA!” he finally responded. Hallelujah! But wait, did he just mocked me straight at my face?!
"Wow! Should I say thank you?" Please note the sarcasm!
"Oh you should, the one who said that you are pretty is a Monteverde! It’s very rare to happen.” He boastfully said. Pssh! His built-in aircon is now again open. “But…” he continued then once again took a step forward.
"What? What’s with the ‘but’? I’m pretty but I’m really not?” I answered him then proceed to hid behind Luke.
"Nope. You’re pretty but Janna is obviously prettier than you. But you have some resemblance though.” He replied. His smile is now as wide as the ocean.
"Hey! What’s with you and your wide grin?” Luke said while shaking his head.
I can’t with this guy! I think we should send him to the hospital right after class. He—oh wait… aha! He’s with Janna yesterday!
"Aha! What happened yesterday? You are with her right? What happened?" I asked him again.
"I drove her home. But we stopped by at the coffee shop near our university.” He is now responding seriously but the wide smile on his face didn’t even fade.
"You had a date? Justin, don’t you dare pull some tricks on Janna.” Luke warned him.
"Pssh... I’m not. I can’t do it to her. She’s different.” Justin replied then smile again like the fool that he is.
"And you really shouldn’t. She’s a Villamayor.” Luke meaningfully said while I remain silent amidst their conversation.
Ugh! I hate this! We started this conversation as three but it always ends up with them having a man-to-man talk. It’s annoying. I feel out of place.
"I won’t forget that. I just… want to know her better." He carefully said before he takes a sit. We both thought that he’s finished with all the talking but we thought wrong. “Ah, yesterday’s not a date. We were with her best friends.”
I rose to my feet in an instant. Best friends? Her best friends??
"You mean Irene Soo and Cassandra Pineda?? OMG! And you are just saying it to me now?? You should’ve texted me! I want to meet them! Just!” I whined like a child. And why not? They are Irene and Cassandra! They are also quite known when they were in high school.
And yep! Janna’s well-known since her early days in high school. Well, she still is until now but not as she was during her high school days. Well, when heaven pour all the talents and blessings it may offer, Janna surely caught a lot. As in a LOT. She is so talented, a beauty with a brain, and well-blessed. Plus, she’s a Villamayor. Her family is one of the most influential people we have here. She is lucky. That’s why I always look up to her.
"I have no idea you fangirl over Janna.”
"Waah! Yes! I like her so much! I even want to meet her friends.” I said the pout.
"Seriously? You are one of her fangirls?” Justin said. Obviously finding a hard time believing it.
"You mean you don’t have any idea?? Are you really my friend for almost four years now?” I rolled my eyes at him.
"For real? And you know it Luke?” he then turns to Luke who’s now just looking at us. He just nodded in response.
"So, you can help me?" he said that makes my forehead creased.
"Huh? What kind of help? Where? I will help you with anything just not with money. You know I don’t have that. Besides, it is you who has it. Your family is ri—’’ I stopped at mid-sentence when he suddenly spoke.
"Of course I have money. It’s not that. You’re close with Janna right? I’m sure you are the one who she will approach among us three because she is more comfortable with you. So help me. I want to court her.” He said continuously. So he’s seriously like Janna?
"Justin Anthony Monteverde! I am telling you--"
"I won’t! Promise. You can slap me a hundred times when I do that. I will permit you to.” He immediately replied. "Please Adri. Please." He then pleaded.
"Okay. But please Just, don’t hurt her." I agreed. I can see the sincerity in his eyes.
"Thank you Adri!" he happily said then hug me lightly.
"Oh, that’s enough. How many times do I have to tell you not to hug Adri?" Luke said while separating us from each other.
"Pfft! You’re jealous and it shows! Why though? Are you threatened because you know I am better-looking than you are?” Just said, teasing Luke.
"You? You are not even handsome. I don’t even know how you will make Janna say yes.” Luke teased back.
"Trust me. I will make her say yes. I’m a Monteverde!”
"Good luck Just. It’s Janna we are talking about." I said, joining the teasing party.
"Ah, are you guys talking about me?" we turned our heads in unison as soon as we heard a familiar voice.
Yes. It’s Janna.
