"But dad!" I pleaded. "This is human high school we're talking about."
His cold eyes stared back through my soul.
"And do you have something against humans? We could have sent you to Deveheim to study with the demons!" he replied. "Remember, it's your actions that got you here. Don't forget I'm still disgusted by what you did! You used ILLEGAL MAGIC!"
My father, Rogan, is a stickler for rules. He didn't become the high counselor by being lenient. Once he gets started on rules, you can expect to be listening to his lecture for a few hours.
"EXPERIMENTING WITH VOID MAGIC!? ARE YOU AN IDIOT!? DO YOU KNOW WHY ITS BANNED!? AS GODS, WE HAVE THE DUTY TO..."
...
Almost an hour later, he had finally calmed down enough for me to step in.
"Alright dad, I'll go, but expect me to be right back in four years."
His face turned solemn and he placed his hands on my shoulders.
"Reiji, please stay safe. I had to punish you because I must set an example for the council. You are not exempt from rules because you're my son."
"I know, dad. Well, I should be going down now. Thanks for being a good father to me."
His face softened and he pulled me into a hug. After a few seconds he moved away and placed an envelope in my hand.
"These are the admissions letters to the school you will be entering."
I stared at the seals of the envelope. All I can feel is dread.
