I had to keep telling myself to calm down as my breathing exhilarated. I could feel cold gazes from all the other girls fall on me. I looked up to find that the alpha was as calm as can be. Then he took me by the hand and guided me to the front of where everyone was standing. His hand was warm on my palm. I was lost in the thought of his touch when he suddenly stopped. I then saw the elders sitting in chairs as they looked upon me with disgusted glares.
I gulped when I saw them. The elders were very old pack chiefs. They were all close friends with the alpha's mom, May. She was the wife of the great alpha before he soon died. The alpha held all the power but when young took guidance from the elders and his mom. The elders could help the alpha pick his mate but the decision was up to the alpha.
I suddenly froze upon seeing a dome barrier full of rows and rows of seats. I immediately knew what was happening. Every time the alpha picked his mate she would have to fight against a prisoner of the elders choosing. They did this so they knew the mate could take care of herself and that she was befitting of the alpha.
"I can tell from the look on your face that you know what is about to happen" the voice immediately pulled me from my thoughts as I looked up to see a smirk on the alpha's face. "Yes I do" I spoke. "I'll be up there" he said as he pointed to a chair that was up close and looked like a throne. "This competition will be tricky. The prisoners you are going to face will not be easy to beat." "Ok thanks" I said before I walked off suddenly blushing for an unknown reason. A women with long black hair came and gave me a chest pad for me to put under my shirt for the fight. She then explained that there will be two fights one with me being in my wolf form and one in my human.
As she said this I froze in horror. I had hid my secret that I was different my whole life. I would hunt in my human form just so no one found out. All that I did for 18 years would now be for nothing. Then suddenly an idea popped into my head. If I could look weak then maybe the alpha would not pick me. It was true that I would have to transform into my wolf form with my white fur for show but I did not have to show my power. I had heard that the prisoners that everyone had fought were awful at fighting so it should be easy for me to appear weak and not die.
I stepped in through the entrance where I saw a huge man stand before me. He had electricity flowing from out of his hands. He stood 3 feet taller than me with huge wide muscles.I gulped as he starred down at me with anger. I am guessing they told him that he could go free if he beat me. The same lady that handed me the chest protector now stood before us and told us the rules. "As you know in the past we have had the loser decided upon who tapped the ground three times. But starting from now whoever is killed first the other is the winner." I froze in fear. Everything that I was going to do to not let them know what I was or the ability I possessed was all thrown out the window at her words.
No matter what I would have to fight the death.
She told us that the first round was going to be in our wolf form. Whoever does not die goes onto the next round where you use your power or hand to hand combat. "Take your wolf form" she suddenly said. I watched as the man in front of me turned from a human to a deadly looking beast. He snarled at me as soon as he transformed. I could then feel all eyes on me. I looked up at my dad for guidance but he gestured for me to transform so I slowly went on all fours and could feel my fur replacing my skin.
That's when the crowd roared.
I could hear yells of people booing at me and then some telling me how pretty I was. I suddenly looked up at the alpha but to my surprise he was sitting there with a straight face. He looked almost kind of happy but the his face turned dark. I turned my head to see my opponent lunge at me with teeth barred. I jumped back and landed gracefully on my paws. He circled me while growling ferociously.
He went for me again but this time he went with his claws as he slashed me on the thigh. He was suddenly on top of me about to go for my neck. I realized that he would kill me if I did not fight so I did something that shocked everyone. I kicked him in the nuts hard and leaped in the air. I came back down on top of him and dug my claws on his sides making it hurt if he went to claw me. I then barred my teeth and went straight for the throat. I bit him hard and kept my teeth there until I could taste his fresh blood. I then backed away. Everyone in the audience didn't dare speak as though the silence was like glass that would break at the slightest sound.
Then someone clapped I looked up immediately to see the alpha smiling with a sinister look on his face.
